Yea thats typically what i do too, but every now and then ill just set the computer to random block and run stop pressure it to get used to the movements and what not
whats your guy’s general amount of times you do RSF? in training my record is like 8. but in a match i can get 3 sometimes 4 only
i find myself spazzing out on RSF as well. I can do 3 reps + slide about 40% of the time and only about 3/4 of the cast. A few of them have weird crumple animations (i.e. dhalsim, ryu, rufus) that give me trouble connecting.
most of the time i end up hitting the fierce and when i slide i somehow do not get the run and do the dropkick. oddly enough it works as some bootleg mixup until people realize i’m just flubbing the motion and not doing it on purpose. i’ve yet to figure out the rhythm to RSF properly. sometimes when i do the qcf+p i do not get a run at all. i wonder if i am inputting the motion to quickly or mashing too hard. training mode doesn’t help as the motions look correct when looking at my inputs. mastering this combo (during actual matches) is really the one thing i find myself missing from having a competitive fuerte.
run stop shenanigans work, just for some reason during attempted RSF my motions don’t register as well as outside of it. about as well as i could do as jump fierce, fierce, slide and only if it doesn’t cross up. otherwise i can’t seem to get the run–>slide to happen. maybe i should slow down?
it’s sad because i’ve been trying to work on this off/on for about a year. ah well, someone has to play fuerte out here in ohio.
Im proud to say i’ve done 11 in a match, but lately ive only gotten 5-7 ):
For the guys with weird animations, right after focus and i mean right after just dash and punch, most people tend to pause for a slight second after a focus attack.
You shouldnt be mashing rsf, and i think you’re inputting run too fast which is why slide comes out. What i did was
i just did the very beginning of that over and over slowly ,run stop, fierce. When your hands get used to that just speed them up and over time 2 turns into 4 and so on.
Dont give up fuerte its a pretty rewarding feeling when you see 8 hit combo. We should play on live, i really enjoy fuerte mirrors, plus i can help you with other match ups.
haha. we probably should do fuerte mirrors just so i can smack my head on the table after i accidentally do a panic splash into your focus and eat RSF for the loss
it is a frustrating match that i should work on should i face skisonic again at season’s beatings. i’m sure everyone has levelled up from last time.
i can consistently do 2hits into slide, but i imagine it’s because i do the 2nd hit too early and cause my 3rd rep to whiff if i go for it. doing it slow is fine during practice i just have to make time to sit down for it (again).
fuerte mirrors are funny but we shouldnt discard the match just because it ( although i’ve never had to fight another fuerte). RSF takes time but when you get it down thats a whole nother level of frustration you give your opponent.
I’ll add you later on when i get my xbox back
GGs today Boba, I switched characters because Fuerte gets boring for me after playing as him too much.
It’s not as clear in my memory anymore but I’ll upload the videos tomorrow or Monday. I do remember a few things though:
Dropped RSF - Most likely lag so whatever.
Your mixups were sort of OK. They did vary a bit though, but it was generally Tortilla/Tostada then a slide often followed.
I guess I’ll point some more stuff out later when I upload the videos.
@Pijaibros - if you can’t get 3 hits into slide constantly, don’t RSF as a punish. The reason is that HK xx EX Guac does more damage, I should check the damage though.
Anyone else think that the easiest characters to RSF are Sagat, Gouken, and Vega?
Looking through frame data and on block, for Vega, you can punish the following with U2:
cl. HK
far HP
far HK
cr. mp
cr. HK (no shit)
overhead
I think cr. mp is used in a lot of blockstrings with his claw so this list is pretty useful for the rare Vega match. Sadly his Rolling Crystal Flashes are all -2 on block so they’re unpunishable ;-;
(Sorry, FF isn’t letting me edit my posts so this is a double post)
yeah GGs indeed. please critique my gameplay! i had fun playing against your fuerte and others. i never really went against another fuerte before so this was a new experience.
i feel Sagat, and female characters are the easiest to rsf. i dont think i’ve gotten a chance to rsf gouken or vega i’ll go try it in training sometime.
I’m trying to learn the RSF loop, but I’m not sure what’s the best approach. Is it mostly about inputting the commands quickly and precisely? If so, I was hoping I could do it by learning the pattern in a slow pace (too slow to combo), and gradually increase the speed as I get more used to the pattern, until it magically starts to combo.
Has anyone successfully used this method? Any tips?
I find this post very funny.
Your avatar doesn’t make sense, El Fuerte would have short/shaved hair - that long hair would be a pain under a mask- or as a cook.
Adding a little to my own post here:
I haven’t tried this method for very long yet, but it seems to be working. I can link two RSFs at the moment, but not yet consistently. Unless the timing changes after the first RSF, it should fall into place as soon as I get the first two to link consistently.
@Zoltar I didn’t try that method. I just kept practicing but being much more careful on the third fierce when I could get RSF twice consistently.
@Boba - I’ve gone up against 3-5 Fuertes before in PMs or EMs but don’t consider myself to have a lot of experience with it. I think that you slide predictably and when you, or any Fuerte player for that matter, turtles then you basically lose.
I’ll have to watch the videos again because its a bit fuzzy in my memory atm. But I only uploaded the ones with Fuerte in it.
Is HK–> EX Guac univeral? Some characters don’t float very high and I can’t catch some with EX unless they are in the corner. Only following up with LK Guac seems to be consistent against all the cast.
If I don’t fish for RSF once in a while how would I get better at it? Practice mode doesn’t do much when I know the opponent isn’t doing anything. Pulling it in the head of battle is the goal.
As long as Guac is cancelled it will connect
And like Paper said, go into training mode to get better at it. Are you on a pad or a stick? Also there’s an entire thread dedicated to RSF which helped me a fuckton
HK xx EX Guac
yea I do that HK > Guac alot. Easier than RSF for me.
I’ll be converting to stick soon
Yeah I know there’s a thread about it, but unless I see someone actually perform the motion in front of me I won’t learn anything. Just like how I learn nothing from books. I’m either going too fast or too slow. In theory I can get it, but when actually applying it in a match it just doesn’t come out even though I can do 3 rep slide in practice mode.
and HK cancels into EX guac? that I did not know. I guess I am waiting too long instead of flowing right into it. Does fuerte have any other moves that cancel (aside from cancelling things to run)
If you can cancel into run, you can cancel into anything. Most of his normals are super cancelable. (except crouching HP/HK and far HP/HK)
El Fuerte (SSFIV) - Shoryuken Wiki
Of course, aside from run, his only specials are guac (any guac, don’t feel like you have to use ex, HK guac works on every character)… and then quesadilla bomb. So you could technically cancel any of those moves into specials, but because guac only hits air, it’s only use is with close HK. And because of QBombs 17 frame startup, it’s only cancellable combo is with close HP.
close HK xx Guac is an input that can be performed as fast as you want… since it’s a cancel and not a link… even in super you can have the guac go off after the “KO” because you input it close enough to the HK.
I’ve been away on vacation in San Antonio for the last week and not playing for a week makes you suck big time with Fuerte. Oddly enough, Ibuki didn’t seem to be affected as much. Maybe I’ll be getting my groove back in the morning, especially if I want to get back to practicing RSF and trying to figure out these option selects.
You fought me like two weeks ago and had mirror matches. I assume you mean offline because I think you’d be pressed to find El Fuerte players.
Then what’s that thing sticking out of his head? I think the only reason he has long hair is for that.
I’m with this so much. This is why I never like it when someone just tells me to practice something new because it’s just frustrating.
