lol @ blueblazer
Time for a online noob question:
Anyone else notice its exceptionally hard to rise and get bp after 5k? I’m stuck at 4.8k-5k range. Any tips/comments on what to do besides the fact that i suck? because i already know that :S

Add me to the list for evo.
There is are a couple mexican places near Caesars palace.
“Taqueria Canoita” is only 0.2 mi away
"La Salsa Fresh Mexican Grill" is also 0.2 mi.
I’ll bring my laptop so I’ll be able to post here while at Evo- but when it gets a little closer I suppose we can set up something. Be forewarned if you don’t have internet access at evo you could get screwed over last minute (i.e. we say lets meet up at “la salsa” at and then we find out its closed).
If you guys are looking for me, I’ll be the fuerte that’s playing in Grand Finals. =P
edit: (I’m assuming someone will bring a camera for a Fuerte group photo, I’m officially calling dibs on Taunt 03- dead center)
I was able to get up to 7k in the first couple weeks o.0 (Then again I have ~97% win rate)
I really wish I could go. I’m starting to wonder if I’ll ever go to EVO, to play or to just spectate. I guess in the meantime all I can do is get better and then BAM! come out of nowhere.
I max out at Mucho Burrito. It’s fucking incredible food, I don’t know if it’s in Calgary but the two in Edmonton are gdlk. If you go to the tourney at apoc, I think it’s in that area. It’s very close to the Mongolie Grill too.
Either way they have top tier burritos but I haven’t tried their tacos.
I fucking love mucho burrito.
I got like 6 back-run tortilla grabs on a blanka today lololol. Cool that it grabs even when blanka uses his shock.
But then once he got out, he spammed that spinning ball move on me
i wish i could be as good as you T____T my win rate is 58-60%
I have a question. If you’re in a Fuerte mirror match and you’re running but the other Fuerte does his ultra is there anything you can do? I can’t do stop jump reliably because I end up mashing
I’m pretty sure you can mash mp for the tostada which has invincible frames on the way up (I’m not quite sure where they start or stop and the latest frame data doesn’t really say). If your timing is REALLY good you can sudden stop and jump in theory, but who knows…
@ paper: ill bring my camera i suppose, also none of fuertes taunts are as cool as 3 you bastard.
@ kuma: its a shame you cant go D:, i still suck but i just wanna go to cause as much rage and frustration as possible
@ Chuck: splash is all i can think of.
I beg to differ. U2 is basically another move in his stock that he gets once he takes enough damage. Considering that move gives El Fuerte Zangief-like properties, I think he needed it pretty badly. We all know that El Fuerte is gimped. The only thing he has going for him is his mobility, and the only way you can use that to your advantage is if you know most of the matchups and strategies out there in order to make someone do what YOU want them to do. I sat down and played Ryu yesterday, and it makes me see how badly we El Fuerte players got it. Here is a guy who has projectiles, good footsie games, and easy linkable combos. I play my El Fuerte against a friend who hardly plays and I lose sometimes to his Ken/Ryu game just because how many safe moves that shotokan has.
In short, that U2 was a godsend.
U2 is hilarious i laugh so hard when people at 60% hp die because he did one unsafe move
It makes people so mad…I love it.
U2 is just so epic!
it’s only 20 points weaker then the strongest ultra in the game(ultimate atomic buster)
Much as i like the spark, TBH it kind of makes me feel like im cheating.
Im used to working my ass off for my wins in vanilla, and now fuerte has the luxury of just scrapping even with his opponent until roughly 50% life, then landing an ultra and winning.
For newer fuerte players, i think that because of this, they are going to plateau a lot quicker than in vanilla. Before, we were forced to drastically improve because of fuerte’s shortcomings. Now he has a REALLY strong crutch in essence, so the need for improvement is not nearly as drastic. Its definitely THERE (It’s fuerte FFS) but the urgency isn’t nearly as prominent as it was before.
I don’t want it to spawn a generation of fuertes who are in the mindset that they can lolsplash for half the match, land ultra 2, and be some kind of Fuerte master. I just hope it doesnt serve as a window for people to skip learning the difficult stuff. (various run stop loops/pressure etc. among other things)
As a move in my personal repetoir(sp?), given that i think i have a pretty good understanding and execution of fairly advanced fuerte stuff, i love it. As a move on its own, i think it encourages the scrubby play that a lot of the SF4 series epitomises (MASH THE ULTRA/SRK YARRRRRR) Avoiding this was why i gravitated towards fuerte in the first place, and like 95% of you guys, i personally wont mash that shit out unless i absolutely KNOW its the best thing to do. (even then i would hardly call it ‘mashing’)
My ONLY worry, as i have said, is that it could potentially serve as a cornerstone for a larger generation of ‘bad’ fuerte’s than we were used to back in vanilla. Simply because its so damn awesome.
But your argument has no point, Ill. You might might as well go to each character forum and tell them that each of their strengths feels like cheating. Zangief being able to grab you out of almost anything feels like cheating. Sagat being able to spam fireballs feels like cheating. Ryu having multiple set ups into his Ultra or super feels like cheating.
It’s not cheating. I have fought mirror El Fuertes against “Bad El Fuertes.” They execute the move when we’re both at neutral distance and stance. I’m standing there knowing he’s going to do it, so I jump, then punish him with my own. Believe me, you can tell a predictable El Fuerte from a good one. A good one won’t randomly splash. I have punished every El Fuerte I fought so far and have yet to lose. Believe me, this U2 was badly needed. Yes, I wish they had rather have buffed some other stuff about him like his normals or damage output, but considering they just increased his guacamole damage to give him better AA potential (gimped the RSF, our prize combo), and gave us a Zangief move, then I for one am glad for it. We can take whatever we need being at many disadvantages against the game’s top characters.
flying giga buster(u1)was just so hard and frustrating to connect in vanilla that a newer more reliable ultra was needed
too many times would you see someone simply jump back to avoid the ultra
You have completely missed what i’m getting at El_Cor. No offense intended, but all of what you said was obvious stuff, which i totally agree with, but it doesnt actually relate at all to what i was trying to say. Ill try to make it more concise.
For existing Fuerte’s, U2 was an amazing addition to the character, and im personally glad its there. For people that HAVENT played him before, it is detrimental to their potential in the long run.
What I am trying to say is that if the fuerte player is new, and they are relying too heavily on U2, then they will take a lot longer to improve their fuerte than if they were not doing so, since they would have no choice but to improve their core game, and not revolve around the ultra.
Its like say, if zangief was relying too heavily on lariat, and ignoring his pokes and SPD. Sure, he will scrape a few wins out, but its not going to help his game in the long run.
And for future reference, feels like cheating =/= ACTUAL cheating. >_>
Oh, then nevermind. I didn’t know you meant it was moreso a SCRUB tool for new players to be attracted to.
Yeah, I agree with that. Carry on.
Ultra Spark may very well be the best ultra in SSF4.
