El Fuerte General Discussion Thread

i dont see how you can win without using special attacks since thats where his mixups coming from

nvm post in another topic…

I can already tell this post is going to sound mean but its intended to be helpful.

People learning the game should be like children, seen but not heard.
I’ve been seeing you post a lot boba, and a lot of your queries would be answered if you just played the game more.

SF is like a library filled with books, you need to memorize every single word of each of the books and you haven’t even finished reading the first one. Some of us have been playing SF for years and still feel like its our first day playing the game. (compared to how top players view the game)

As you play the game after playing 50,000 different Fuerte vs Ken matches then you’ll learn to classify certain Ken playstyles and even after playing those 50k Kens there’s going to be some jerk that plays ken completely different.

I’m sure I could shorten this post, and its directed at every sf player- Just play the game and figure out the answer to your questions yourself, imo it will be more beneficial to becoming a competent SF player. (Once you start winning all the time, then reassess your playstyle and discuss what you should/shouldn’t do even though you’re winning all the time- because you’re still playing badly compared to playing on the highest level.)

Fuerte’s j.rh has an awesome hitbox. Wall jump then pull back and stick out butt. Or jump in in general with it when you think they might toss out an anti-air normal. It has a lot better chance of stuffing stuff than the elbow. Jump back rh beats honda’s headbutt clean if you’re low, but if you’re coming down on top of it use j.mk as the hitbox is lower (and also good).

Sometimes neutral jump rh is a good idea… Rh is a seriously buff move just mess around with it. It hits stuff clean.

Guile’s U2 has about 4 frames of invincibility and it hits on the 7th frame, so there’s a relatively large window to smack him out with something.

if you dont upload it, friend me so i can see it

I have a new phone that records video pretty well, but I’m tired so I’m giving the Fuerte community this offer.

Find me a video converter that won’t put a watermark when converting from .3gp to .wmv format.
If you do this for me I’ll post responses for any questions about fuerte and I’ll add tutorials for hands with RSF/C.MK/C.LK + all other needed combos in my Master Thread.

If its something that needs to be pirated don’t post it, and definitely don’t p.m. me the link to where I could download it from- that would be wrong.

here’s a video displaying what you are talking about- it is a little shakey, I’m holding my phone with one hand and supering with the other.

I’m not sure how much this will help you, but you can try Virtual Dub Mod. That’s what I used to turn ripped DVD footage into AVI for my AMVs. Speaking of which, if you want to save your clips as AVI files, I strongly suggest using the H.264 codec.

@Paper

This isn’t mean, I know you’re trying to help. Thanks for the reality check. I know I have a lot I need to work on to become even halfway decent.

Posted it into the video thread last week, but for continuity, here is the video:

Does Fuerte have any frame advantage after a blocked focus attack? I try to jab immediately after doing it and I always lose out to someone else’s poke or whatnot. Does his c.LK work?

from reading the frame data at http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2008/nov/13/el-fuerte-frame-data-street-fighter-4/ it seems like it is -21 for FA1 and -15 for FA2 on block

For some reason I had in my head that it was -2 if you dashed on block for FA1 and 0 if you dashed on block for fa2 but can’t find the source that I read that at.

regardless though clearly the answer is no for frame “advantage” if the above is true any way

Yeah, that’s what I was referring to: a focus attack (level 1 & 2) if you dash on block. If it’s 0 then that’s fine with me.

Everyone has the same blockstun from all variations of the focus attack, it’s basically dependent on how quickly your character can dash out of it.

eg. Dhalsim has the slowest forwards dash and therefore is always in negative frames after a blocked level 1 or 2 focus attack. (Hence all dhalsim players dashing backwards instead).

El Fuerte has a quick, and small dash forwards so in actual fact, he is at neutral frames after a blocked level 1, and is in plus frames after a blocked level 2.

This is why a level 1 focus is so useful to El Fuerte, its quick, has long range, crumples on counter, and is technically safe on block.

Yeah Dawg’s right.

If you hit someone with a level 1 focus, you can dash forward and block/Late tech safely. You’ll be at like -1 frames(I think) which is virtually safe since theres no moves that can come out that quick.

Man, no love for El Fuerte at Udon.

Is it me or does everyone outside of us and the haters forget that El Fuerte even exists? I see lists in regards to the roster and more often then not, he’s no where to be seen.

We just need an el fuerte player to make an impact on the community. then everything will be cool.

That impact is usually negative, when i meet new people and play sf it usually ends with them hating me because i play fuerte, XD

A lot of people in my country didn’t feel that he even existed, till I started owning scrubs with him (I am not that good but I sure can own most scrubs easily). He is still not very known, but I have made quite a few people into Fuerte haters, which is good since they now know he IS in the game, a few people actually liked him once they saw me use him, and one started using him as a secondary character and has gotten pretty good with him (his RSF is better than mine now), saying that Fuerte is a really likable and fun character. So now Fuerte is a bit more recognizable as an SF character in our UAE fighting community  still not as much as he deserves though, he is too cool XD

I agree with the notion that a Fuerte player must put a big impact on the the world scene to make Fuerte more on the map. TKD is maybe the only one that has been extremely consistent with him, and has made a name for himself. Kai is also up there I think, hopefully in Super we see more Fuerte players rising to the scene and making some sort of impact. In SF4, Fuerte being a new character who is low tier, with minimal story was the reason he didn’t get popular at all. I think now at least he is not low tier anymore in SSF4, so there is more of a chance to win with him and get him recognized.
