ill bill, i think its better to ex run when people try to jump in on you, only if you dont wanna ultra them or you wanna save the meter for later.
I always say good game. Rarely do I get props. Must be cuz I turtle so hard
not very practical but did you know that counterhit cr.mk combos with q-bomb?
I sometimes wonder if you guys who really use q-bomb this much are playing terrible players who don’t punish you… Or do you guys just somehow never get it blocked?
I use it to punish people who abuse focus attack, but aside that i find it too risky to even charge sometimes
I turtle. Alot. I always have one prepping after I land an ultra. If they have low health I crossup fierce -> crmk xx run or, if they have no ultra, meaty qbomb xx fadc. If they have some good life on them it’s crossup fierce 2-hit rsf xx qbomb to shove them into a corner.
I love qbomb and enjoy finding uses for it. But even then. It’s used sparingly. If a person is spamming hurricane kicks crhp makes them mash dp when they see me run at them. Stop and let them “get away”. They hurricane again I qbomb them into the wall and run at them again. Opponent falls back on what got them out last time, the dp that just got ex guaced.
I use it for the oh shit what the f factor and to make them donsomething after bombing them into the corner.
Random qbomb is way riskier then random guac.
Far standing mk’s improved speed seems to have made it worth using now. It seems to have pretty decent priority.
I pretty much sucked in SF 4 on PC, now I got a xbox360 and a fightstick and El Fuerte is fun again :woot:
I am new to the series so your feedback here helps me alot, just wanted to point out that even noobs read here :wgrin:
In the past I had the biggest problems with people who constantly rushed me down in a corner!
Hope it gets better with the stick now.
Well welcome to the fuerte forums, im sure you’ll enjoy our small community. Getting put in the corner is really bad for fuerte since its pretty easy to keep him there, ex run and ex quac are our only real ways to escape but theyre both unsafe and unreliable. Its better to just wait it out the pressure and wait for a chance to escape. If you want you can add me on live and we can practice some matches
hey guys me and Tofu Warrior are gonna make a video showcasing run stop pressure mixups, and ill show you various examples from my matches. it is virtually impossible to get up from the ground against fuerte unless you mash. and even if you jump, you’ll get ultra’d =)
Sticks promote less mashing if you ask me. But don’t be mistaken. It won’t automatically make you better. Practice.
Do your best to stay out the corner. Wall jumps, back throw, fajita buster all switch sides. When cornered, weather the pressure and block. Look for lapses in combos to try to tech. Wait when the tech is done as since you are in the corner they opponent will likely predict that you’ll try to jump out
I sometimes find normal slides to be very useful in getting out of corners. A lot of opponents will predict that you will attempt a wall jump, so as soon as they jump, you just slide under them instead and then run to the other side.
I agree with that. Sometimes a pure escape is a better idea. And crhk does the trick for escaping a forward jumpin or getting a knockdown on a nuetral jump. If it hit a neutral jump you can corpse hop with shower kick and escape or turn the tables.
I would like for the El Fuerte community to focus on what El Fuerte’s Ultra Spark cannot punish on block, rather than what it is capable of properly punishing after blocking.
Couldn’t we just go off of frame data?
Any tips on how to deal with boxers? This match is always stupid hard for me. After a knockdown, i get graped by a headbutt every time i try to tortilla, if not, i’ll miss with tostada. Also it seems really hard to approach him as well.
Play patiently, you usually don’t have to approach him much. Best to usually run slide, which beats his most common specials and whatnot. Once you’ve knocked him down with the slide for the first time, try just standing there and punishing a headbutt on block. This at least makes him question using it for future wakeups. It’s good to stay closer to max distance of tortilla and tostada, this also makes them less likely to throw out a headbutt, since you’d be out of range naturally. I like using Focus Attacks on Balrogs… especially from mid screen, because it counters most moves the opponent likes to throw out.
I’ve had some good examples of how to fight balrog’s lately, maybe I’ll start saving various matchup videos.
cr.HK on Boxer’s wake-up mind fucks a lot of boxers. Once you’ve conditioned them to expect cr.HK on wake-up, start your mix-up games.
cr.HK beats a lot of his options on wake up besides just blocking or FA~backdash.
In regards to approaching him, this is a toughie since boxer has more options of defending your attacks than you attacking him. Your mix-up isn’t enough to attack a boxer who’s solid on defense which means you’re left to feints and punishing on mistakes.
Feint a lot (with run stops, FAs, far s.HK) hoping to catch him asleep while doing a 3/4 or full screen dash punches and then punishing with a run back.
This match-up isn’t as bad as it was in vanilla, it’s more of a 5:5 match-up now because of Boxer’s minor damage and health nerf and the addition of U2 to Fuerte’s arsenal.
Other than that, everything’s still pretty much the same: if you knock down boxer, boxer can quickly lose 50% life or stunned early by guessing wrong. If you let boxer get a big life lead, good luck trying to make a comeback since a turtling boxer’s defense is so solid.
Qbomb beats all his rush punches except I think a cut short low one.
Go for knockdowns with crhk to condition.
Bait headbutts. Punish hard.
Once you have a substantial lead. Run away and turtle, punishing any and all obvious jumpins with ex guac or rush punches with qbomb. A forward moving balrog only has turn punch, throws, and jabs.
Just found out I’m like 95th (give or take a few) on the world ranking leaderboards for Elf.
Not exactly accurate, though. I’ve still got a lot to learn with Elf.
Also, against boxer:
If you absolutely know he’s going to headbutt on wakeup, just run back and charge FA, or run back and wait. Punish the landing with the charged FA into RSF (or other punish), or just start the punish whilst he’s in recovery.
Something very important to determine early on in the Balrog match up is how your opponent reacts to midscreen focus. You want to see if he sits and waits, goes for a focus break rush punch, goes for a twitch jab rush punch, that kind of thing. From there you can manipulate him. You really need one knockdown to make his life difficult, so really take your time in this match up. Also Spab Rog showed me that meaty shower kicks will pass through headbutts and EX rush punches for free.
I didn’t get a chance to record any footage at my buddy’s place when he was hosting casuals, we suffered a power outage and had to call the electrician. I can try to record again soon, or I can just show you the shit I’ve come up with, you can record the video and just credit me somewhere. Your call my friend.
