What is a good follow up to do after a forward throw if you know your opponent is going to wake up srk?
Jump in fierce seems too inconsistant
This question is aimed mainly for Sagat and Ryu.

if you know they are gonna mash on wake up you can bait it like:
dash forward, run back stop
run forward lk (back hop)
f.mk run back
lk guac
FA charge feint back dash
watever really
your punishes will be RSF straight up, FA lvl2 RSF, run slide, c.hk sweep, far HK , etc
just mix n match while using your better judgement
i’d tortilla the ryu. Seriously. you time it right it’ll stuff the dp. as for sagat, i don’t even know. if you got an ultra, fake the tortilla by doing it a bit earlier but instead of trying to land it, you land behind, dp whiffs, free punish.
After a forward throw, tiny tiny tiny step forward then immediately jumpin fierce is totally safe to shoto dps. It will hit them in the front but if they dp you will hit them out of it every time. In vanilla this lead to a combo, but now it air resets him, this is incredibly annoying.
Eventually they learn that they have to block that jumpin or take damage, once they do that then you can take a very slightly larger step forward and the fierce will cross up, this is also safe to reversal dps but if they hold forward it will miss so OS a throw when you do this. They can also DP this one by doing a late, non reversal dp, that will autocorrect for him, so that’s risky, however the one in the above paragraph is safe to all dp’s and if they try to dp late they’ll get hit.
Tiny step then tortilla is safe to dps after fwd throw also, you can make it whiff that way and then rsf or ultra him in the back.
As for sagat’s dp, just hold up forward after the forward throw, that is a perfect safe jump vs. him, if he uppercuts you’ll block.
Just torrrtillllllllah. Afterwards everything’ll be alright!
That’s how I roll with the Chef. Stuff this, Stuff That, Stuff them to death
has anyone else been hit by sagat’s ultra 2 during a safe tortilla? i dunno if its because im still not familiar with the new timing for totrtilla but wake up ultra2 from sagat nearly cost me a match twice
I don’t know what it is about forward throw to jumpin fierce but I get different results every time against Ryu and Sagat, half the time I stuff Ryu’s SRK, half the time it hits me, half the time I block Tiger Uppercut like you said Halc, but half the time I get hit… Is the timing very strict or something?
Also I’ve noticed that forward throw to jumpin fierce will get hit by Ryu’s super 100% of the time.
Some Ultra’s make it so you don’t actually tortilla over someone. It’s kind of odd, but you just kind of learn when it works and when it doesn’t. Against a character where tortilla might land infront o them if they wake-up ultra I just use cross-up fierce.
i really got to learn the timing of cross up fierce. im only compleatly sure of it only after a normal throw. i usually screw it up after a tortilla and end up getting dp’ed
It’s happened to me a few times. I go for tortilla and it should get behind them but instead I land in front and get ultra’d. Shit sucks
Has anyone tried just walking up and doing meaty HP on wakeup? I’ve done it a few times when I knew my opponent was scared of doing DPs. Pretty funny if you land it.
no, but i like corpse hop then stand fierce.
I do meaty HP on Gouken or Abel a lot because their wake-up game kind of sucks.
corpse hop then stand fierce, if done fast enough, is good against people who are mashing backdash. They’ll dash right into you. Can’t do it much except against a retarded person since they’ll catch on kinda fast but its a good game 5 move.
I’m starting to turtle more. Boy do I love it, especially when you taunt at the end. I remember I had a rage quit on me a while back.
no. have fun getting TT’d. safe tortilla him to death until he starts back dashing. if he jumps, free ultra.
By a lot I don’t mean many times in the same match - just seems to work against Abel’s and Goukens more than anyone else. Pretty much what BlueGuile was saying, it’s a nice later on trick to pull but you wouldn’t want to do it regularly. If you are walking up to Abel regularly at all you are correct, you would be eating a TT.
hmm just found an ultra setup that might be somewhat effective:
ryu went for a crossup, I backdash so that it would hit me, then when I land on my feet I do ultra. and I caught his jab or something, seemed useful, but really risky… nice little gimmick to use imo =)
Seems a little gimmicky but you can confirm it pretty well since he’s right next to you, he throw otu a limb at all you hit KKK.
Sweet. Join the club. Turtling has helped me as far as drilling into my head to block full strings.
It infuriates opponents man. I said it before I’ll say it again. I got a time out win. And next round went after’em and scored a perfect.
