El Fuerte General Discussion Thread

I don’t think that train o thought works. I love running away and clock killing but that doesn’t work against every player.

Also. I’ve played guys that can combo and trap. But I trick them ONCE and it’s splash mountain the rest of the day

all fuertes cant play exactly the same imo , though you can rushdown and mixup or turtle and punish … or both! i guess i love a bit of both so i like to pressure safely and never let up the mixup

We all certainly have our own flavor. I feel like I play completely different than a lot of Fuertes out there, but different styles work for different people.

I’m overly careful. My brother swears I do better when I attack with reckless abandon. But I’m prone to being predictable when I press hard.

I think once i finally nail rsf I’ll have more confidence and go for the kill more then preferring to just kill the clock.

Doing the clock thing is certainly good practice for timing lk guacs though.

I guess I could say I’m a 50% turtle 35% shenanigans 15% attack.

Although my main course for shenanigans is wasteful spending of meter.

A topic I want to bring up though. Since guac has been buffed do you guys find yourself doing random/‘psychic’ guacs more often?

I still do it here and there. Bad habit I guess. But it’s not very common I find myself still kinda weary about that friggin guac trade crap.

I’ve only just started playing street fighter whatsoever, but I’ve definitely discovered pretty quick that random regular guacs is a great way to get punished. I try to wait for EX version so it’s safer. I probably use EX guac more than any other EX move. I’m still working on it, but I imagine that even if they don’t jump and you don’t catch them with it, your quick recovery can let you keep up the pressure/mind games, such as landing close and immediately throwing.

Every so often though if I’m against some jumpy opponent I use regular guac a lot more, especially if they immediately jump after waking up a lot.

I need to get better at busting out EX habaniero dash upon my own wakeup. For some reason I usually mess it up and end up doing regular dash or something, which makes me eat whatever they inevitably try to do to me. I figure if I get better with that I can get out of sticky situations better, and catch them with a splash or buster.

Oh and I’m friggin’ clueless when it comes to rsf. I know how it should be done but don’t really have the rhythm down. I need to just spend time in training mode trying to figure it out.

By the way, what other typical combos/blockstrings does he have? I honestly don’t know. That other thread has rsf and this:
f.mk xx jab (x3) xx cr. short xx cr. forward xx habanero back dash

Is that really it? If so I don’t have much to practice, heh.

No ,thats not all … that is for sure a main string because you can break it down into more mixups … he has some other small ones

  • cr.mk loop -> habanero dash … i think 3 is the max you can do though
  • Jump in fierce -> cr.mk -> habanero dash … high low mixups
  • cr.mk -> run,stop -> st.lk -> habanero dash … just to add on to shananigans
i will post more as i start to use them … im woring on some strings now that i want to add into my gameplay …

RSF should be your main focus though because its a great punisher and its the bnb to land every chanc you get …

Just thought I’d let you guys know I double perfected a scrub Zangief in a tournament yesterday and it felt awesome lol

Need video! Fuerte is still such crack that I find myself picking him more than Dudley, though I can hardly even do 3 hits on RSF.

There was video, I’ll post it as soon as it’s up on youtube.

First post!

Took me a while to pick a main for ssfIV but I finally settled on El Fuerte. Absolutely love his gameplay and shenanigans.

Keep it spicy my friends!

We welcome all new Fuertes with open arms an xx QUESADILLA!

since I don’t have a readily accessible camcorder, I’ll try recording some gameplay via webcam. I gotta throw that into an editor because it flips the horizontal axis… It looks like crap because I’m using hypercam2 to record off the preview footage in explorer.

I should plug in easycap so that the video goes straight into the computer.

But i’ll see if I can get some videos down today if i’m not busy playing Burnout.

Hm, cr. mk seems to be a constant feature. I didn’t know you could chain them together like that.

How do people feel about standing mk? Somebody was saying that it’s good, but I don’t remember exactly.

So, guys, what would you say is the best punish for someone who jumps back on wake-up and attacks in their first few airbourne frames?

You’ll get knocked out of jumping grab (fake tortilla) if you try it, and I’ve had guac trade a few times…

How about run back stop feint, then run forward slide (to catch them in landing frames), or maybe even ultra?

Let me know how you deal with it.

Thanks.

Also, I know splash can work, but I prefer an untechable knockdown.

some feel its useless and some feel it has potential … i use it to stuff moves that it may have priority over . from time to time i poke with it to surprise my opponent … st. far mp is very good imo because it hits at strange angles … i like them both

depends where they are

CrHK

run slide

ex guac

walk up rsf

ultra

if you tortilla and they jump out of it you have enough time to :

  • airthrow
  • EX guac
  • U1 or U2 … you have to wait til right after the peak of the jump .

i have been using these options more often after baiting my opponent to jump out of tortilla … after you train them to backdash more you can fake tortilla by running back the same distance as you would before , then stop and hold UF towards the opponent … from there you can :

  • meaty airthrow the backdash … works if opponent as a hop in the backdash
  • run back and stop and instead of holding UF towards the opponent … Slide ! fromthere you can keep you pressure and mixups going

Qbomb works too. It’s a techable knockdown, but it’s a real easy way to put’em in the corner.

ex guac

The Run Back, Stop, Jump Towards, Air Grab beats out any jump attempt (even if they mash out an attack as soon as they jump), BUT you must time it correctly.

Time it like you would a safe jump-in, and time the airgrab at the last possible moment (right before El Fuerte lands). It will catch them as soon as they get off the ground. Even if they don’t jump, if you time it correctly, you will whiff airgrab, land, and immediately recover for another ground throw OR block.

I’ve tried this in training mode several times. Reversal shoryuken will whiff behind you, and you’ll be able to block any non-reversal wake-up shoryukens.

After you land an air grab, you are at a great spacing to go for a safe jump-in cross-up j.HP.
