El Fuerte General Discussion Thread

Is there any way to play Fuerte other than taking stupid repeated risks with habanero dash and focus attack? The damage payoff is weak but his normals are so bad I can’t figure out anything else. Someone help me understand how I should be playing this guy.

El Fuerte’s normals are awesome.

How reliant is ELF on EX moves? Can you often save up for super, or is his EX run (etc) just that much more useful? It seems like he has a ton of hit-confirmable super links, but I’m not sure on the damage.

I personally find that his EX-Airgrab (SRK+KK) is a great use of an EX-Stock if you can predict a jump in coming. It does around 15% of Ryu’s life and is fairly safe if you guess wrong (you can usually pull off a throw if you miss the move and land behind your enemy), but the move rarely misses.
Despite the fact that the EX-Run has two charges of super armor I rarely find myself using it.
Because of the fact that I rarely use the EX-Run (possibly to my detriment) and competent people don’t really jump in , I usually have enough meter charged for a super.
ELF’s super is pretty good, and like you said, it can be linked through most of his normals.

I would just like to add the his Ex Guacamole leg throw is also good for escaping when then try to like grab on wake up or poke it gets u a safe enough distance. Sometimes I like to use ex run on wake up incase of a poke i use The backwords ex run and right after poke i just splash or grab. But ima spaz when playing elf ^_^.

any tips on doing the infinite? I tried to do it earlier today and it is hard as hell. Is it standing fierce, fireball with fierce, jab, repeat? anyone pulling it off consistently yet?

As arrogant as it sounds, lots of practice.
Another hint that was previously stated in this forum is the sound that you make when preforming it correctly is very distinct, and sounds similar to a horse galloping.

tap tap TAP…tap tap TAP… tap tap TAP.

Sorry if that wasn’t very helpful. :shake:

I agree with cake. It just takes alot of practice and hes right it does make that sound but mine sounds more like TAP taptaptap TAP taptaptap and then a jab comes out :shake: lol Its all the practice my friend!

I’m sure there’ll be some good tutorials on doing the infinite when the console version comes out. I look forward to seeing them.

Forgive the noob question (and it’s probably been discussed at length somewhere else), but is the infinite truly an infinite? Or does the opponent get pushed too far away eventually, or some in-game system end the combo? Do you have to use EX to keep it going past a certain point?

Its not a true infinite U can get about 5 hits and yeah eventually they get pushed to far so after 5 hp u gotta either HD and Carmel sliding (the sweep) or the mk one into super. Not sure about the EX i think they get to far either way. Ill check it out later for ya.

uh wait wait, I dont understand the qcf + KKK after th ultra… what do you get by doing that???

A fully charged chest buster attack.
It does really good damage/stun and has great priority.
It is used at here, for reference.

It is pretty much an infinite mainly because by the time you get it off, you’ll usually have hit them with one or two moves, and then by the time you hit about 5 loops they will be stunned.

Ahh right sorry. So its a True infinite then ^_^.

The only way I’ve been able to do it consistently is by doing s.fierce > qcf+strong > jab

I press fierce with my ring finger, strong with my middle finger, and jab with my index finger. It’s just like I’m piano’ing my fingers on a desk or something. I tend to double tap jab though since my first input is usually too fast to cancel the run. You can actually press jab too fast during the run and it wont cancel it. Maybe I’ll make a video sometime that shows how I do it. I’ve only gotten like 3 hits on average. It’s extremely difficult and I don’t play Fuerte so I haven’t really dedicated myself to mastering it.

so today i land a super on a gief, and he 360s me IN THE MIDDLE OF MY SUPER…

he didnt block it, i actually landed it, he was getting hurt, grabs me IN THE MIDDLE OF THE COMBO

WTFFFFFFFFFFFFF

edit: ronstoppable saw it happen if you dont believe me

lol wtf, you mean between the handstands? Maybe you started it too far and the first hit only JUST hit but the pushback made you miss the 2nd and you were playing some psycho gief who used those 2-3 frames to SPD you

im not sure about that, cause i combo’d into it
also, i got at least 2 or 3 hits

Sometimes when u combo into the super it will get the first 2 or 3 hits but for some reason miss the last 2 where he runs up on the guy and they can block. Its happened to me a few times. Besides that i dunt really know.

Today I lost many matches but was so close in each one. Funny how I’m content with that. Anyways, I have a question. While you’re flying with aerial moves, how many ranges can you choose to reach? Is it just 3?
