El Fuerte General Discussion Thread

He has complete control over his jump arc, changeable directions ever so slightly while in the air, his shortest being about 1/4 character length in front of him and his longest being just short of half screen.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong though, I know tortilla works this way.

It also might help to be more specific on what you’re whiffing on.

I’m good at that too, usually during Tortilla. I notice it and I go “damn that’s so predictable he’ll know and avoid it” like it’s another tortilla or something but then forget that he doesn’t know when I start charging it

Looks like everyone’s going to get mid-air frames on their backdashes. Tortilla is so fucked over AGAIN. On the bright side, back dash air grabs.

Q-Bomb is one of Fuerte’s best weapons, honestly. It allows him to control a good portion of the screen. There’s no reason not to use it other than finger placement. But that’s okay. You’ll get over it. Just charge his LK. You hardly use it. Ex version, however, is your best bet.

Really. Use Q-Bomb. It’s your Honda Headbutt. It’s your Bison Psycho Crusher/ Scissor Kick. It destroys focuses. It has great stun. Use it. Punish shotokons with Ex Q-Bomb.

Use it, use it, use it.

There’s still the crap startup. It does me no good against a good zoner.

That’s what I was thinking about, back dash air grabs fuck yeah. But once again, Fuerte gets a sneaky ass nerf. I fucking hate this game and I want to drop Fuerte for a better character but I like getting the messages of “best Fuerte evarrrr” etc.

low tier no fear, etc.

i’m too gay for fuerte to drop him (no homo)

ALSO JESUS CHRIST SPAB AND JAVITS LOOK THE SAME

I hope Tortilla gets some serious buffs to compensate for this mid-air backdash change. Next week is Fuerte’s turn, hopefully we hear more on the positive changes he got this time around.

About Qbomb, with slight tweaks I will be in full agreement with El_Cor. Let’s hope Capcom addresses its problems and fixes the startup time. It really can be a game changer if it works better, but as it is now it is not a consistent tool, so we rarely see even top Fuerte players use it much.

How am I supposed to tech throws if I’m constantly changing with LK?

Also, I’d say the ex version is a waste of meter.

That helps. It’s happened a few times so I can’t recall all of them, but it happened against a Cody who did his j.MK. I figured since he was going to land at mid distance I wouldn’t press a direction, but I landed short of him. Also one time against a Blanka who did his MK Up ball I think, he was slightly further than mid distance away from me when I did the ultra, I pressed forward and landed over him

As for changes, Vanilla-like Tortilla would be nice. I hope they make Q-Bomb cover more distance, charge time change to Zonk-like charge time, or give it more speed maybe? If not slightly less recovery at least. Right now I only use Q-Bomb when I have enough meter to FADC it.

it cant be a honda headbutt or scissor kick because it isnt safe on block. its -17 meaning almost anything can punish it.
its just a good chip tool and you can use it after u2. to trade with wake up dp’s. I would say its decent against rufus if hes jumping from mid screen,. but even then s.rh will knock him down.

I ran into the gootecks again. I lost to his T. Hawk though. Grapplers seem to be giving trouble lately. Oh well.

I can’t stand playing grapplers with the luchador. Every time he guesses right you get trolled for roughly half life.

Edit: and I still can’t seem to beat these online scrubs who go full retard when they see El Fuerte. I honestly seem to play better against people who are… better. *am sad

The best swordsman’s worst opponent is the worst swordsman for he does not know what he will do and neither will he.

Ok…this is honestly destroying my morale right now like a fucking nuke. I don’t know how the FUCK this happened but I seem to have forgotten how to do the RSF. I took a two week break from ssfiv cause i got sick of playing it everyday so i played something else. then i wnet back and couldn’t rsf for shit! Wtf? Like I use to go to training mode and average 5-6. In match, three. Now in TRAINING mode i average 3! And a lot of times I am screwing up! Like I don’t get it, has this happend to anyone else? And if this is common will I have to worry about this EVERY time i take a break? I really don’t want to be playing this game every single fucking day of my life. I love it, but I don’t want it to become a job.

Just mess with it a little bit whenever you play it. Eventually, your muscle memory should eventually be jogged. I was like this when I was on vacation in San Antonio this summer and didn’t play for a week. I played like crap at first, but I readjusted. Try treating your RSF and other practices like a workout regimen.

Just a thought, but would you guys like it if Quesadilla bomb did more damage the longer you held it ala Balrogs Final TAP?

On the developer’s side, I’m still wondering if the Q Bomb was a practical addition or mainly for the character itself, anyway.

In the end, Fuerte is a okizeme strong character and he depends on it more than footsies, combos, or fireball game. He’s similar to Viper due to depending a lot on his specials to do anything.

lol nah man, viper is safe with most of her mixups. she also has normals that can combo into good damage. she has more ambiguous setups then fuerte does. fuerte is really straight forward against high level players. doing riskier stuff vs them are more effective imo. Fuerte is a counter character all together. he’s an action for every situation. and you can play somewhat footsies with him. ive been messing with his normals, and there actually really not that bad, espescially when you know wen to use em

Possible buffs for Fuerte to make him a much stronger but still very fun and unique character:

  1. Reduce charge time for Q-bomb to 2 sec or 2.5 sec - gives q-bomb a more active role. Run stop qbomb against FA/armor happy opponents? Why not?
  2. Buff tortilla’s hitbox to vanilla hitbox but leave the damage as 132 - makes tortilla the annoying thing it was back again but less so due to nerfed damage
  3. Buff fajita buster by reducing its recovery frames so it’s safer now - I really like the use of fajita buster nowadays due to tortilla hitbox nerf
  4. make more of Fuerte’s normals cancellable to run special : far s.HP, target combo, close s.MK - makes for a far more active and offensive El Fuerte play
  5. Nerf ultra 2 to 450 damage and buff ultra 1 to 500 damage (ultra 2 remains the defensive tool of choice with kara-armor ultra 2 while ultra 1 is the offensive anti-jump ultra)

This makes Fuerte a much more varied character that’s not easy to play but always fun even in high level since this encourages more experiments with faster q-bombs, more balanced ultras, annoying mix-ups with tortilla/fajita busters, and most importantly sick offensive Fuerte play with run-stops from almost any normals.

Spread the word of the Taco Knee!

Arde, those would probably make Fuerte a much more solid character, but you forgot restoring the hitbox of s.HK. Two other buffs I’d like to see is either reducing the startup or recovery on some his normals and a better backdash (seriously, it’s frustrating when trying to escape grapplers). Oh, and that tortilla buff might as well be compensation if the backdash is being buffed for every character.
