El Fuerte General Discussion Thread

Yes and it really fucks up bipson. You can do any normal that you can cancel, run stop overhead and you’re on the other side.

Didn’t Skisonic use to play Fuerte?

I think he still does.

I think I had him mixed up with Buktooth who moved to Ibuki.

Skisonic definitely has a solid fuerte. but i feel he’s never commentating when theres a fuerte playing lol

he was commentating vs Peru’s match, but kinda biased in sanfords favor

I lost in my team tourney last night haha, but i had fun night though, last night was so chill . there was a 5v5 fuerte vs balrog exhibition. i beat chris hu’s balrog. and we all lost to javits. =(

if you guys were watching, we had 4 fuertes playing. Me, Manny, Dawgtanian, Spore.

it was on stream and it was pretty hype. whenever vids are up ill post them.

EDIT: 5v5 fuerte exhibition

In that 5 vs 5 video I noticed no one really crossed up Balrog after a knockdown. That video kept on the edge of my seat the whole time and continue to be great El Fuertes. Also do we have to wait 2 more weeks to find out what changes El Fuerte has in the arcade version?

Spab. I’m gonna be real with you. Watching that shit you pulled on javitz got me hard. I fucking love you. No homo.

Man, whenever I get a Honda or Blanka match-up, I realise how much I miss Ultra 1 and how cool it looks. Such a shame it’s just so impractical for most match-ups now. :frowning:

I use Spark against Blanka because it stops him from doing his corpse hop shenanigans. But ya, getting Honda with Giga Buster still feels sweet.

Punishing horizontal Blanka balls with Giga Buster is my personal favourite.

Punishing dps and bison ultra 2 with gigabuster is my favorite.

Balrog is still tough, just as I thought! What I hate the most about this matchup is when he lands U1, since not only you take a good chunk of damage, but you also get pushed in the corner instantly :frowning: I try to be as patient as possible when playing him, and tend to use jump-in crossups often since many of the other mixup tools that Fuerte has don’t work well with him. U2 definitely helps in improving this matchup from vanilla though.

A couple of quick questions:

  • Any idea when Fuerte Arcade changes will be announced?

  • I just got myself a new TV (Samsung LED), and can’t shake the feeling that the response time I get after inputting a command lags a bit. Its possible that I am just not used to the new screen, but anyone knows if there is any kind of setting on the TV that could potentially cause a bit of lag? The TV I had before had a smaller screen, and was a Sony Bravia, never had such problems with it.

Thanks guys!

^ High definition televisions have a few milliseconds of delay in comparison to SD televisions, as they are up-scaling and processing the image before displaying it. Different makes and models have different amounts of delay. In general, I think it’s around 2ms, which is just over a frame in game time.

So, yeah, there could definitely be a little delay. That’s why your hear players complain about TVs that were being used at tournaments if they lose. :stuck_out_tongue:

@Phrygian: Thanks for the quick response! The one I had before was also HD, could there be a notable difference even between different HD TV brands? And is there anyway to play around with the settings to adjust the delay?

I was just starting to get comfortable with RSF, but this delay is really messing it up now T_T

After failing miserably in two tournaments, I finally realized last night at the socal team tryouts that the television/monitor is what is making such a big difference.

I only play at home on a big screen setup, and I’ve become very consistent with things like RSF. I warmed up at home before the tournament and was connecting 5+ rsf reps nearly every time. I showed up to the tournament and went into training mode on the standard setup with low lag ASUS monitors and could not even connect off the first hit with any regularity at all, and when I did it just looked a bit strange.

A few months back, I thought I might just have been really off the first time I went to a tourny, because every time I got a crumple I would hit Fierce to early after dashing and nothing would come out. I had never done that before and chalked it up to being scrubby in my first tourny, but the same thing happened last night.

I finally realized that the inputs were occurring multiple frames faster than they do on my home setup. Something like attacking after dash recovery is built into visual muscle memory.

Just a heads up for people who play on big screen setups. It can mess with you if you plan to play competitively. I suggest getting a proper low lag setup if you want to be at your best.

tubes forever. sure it isn’t as pretty, but damn if the buttons i push don’t forget to do stuff when they’re supposed to. just don’t forget to set the system for the correct display or even that will have a bit of lag.

Report: Cody wakeup ultra one beats tortilla.

Also. Did I just combo shower kick to super?

Yeah, Cody’s wake up u2 beats tortilla as well, the sand kicking part.

And yes you did combo shower kick super

@sinix: Thanks a lot for the heads up, never knew TV lag could be so detrimental. I will have to seriousely think of investing in one of those ASUS monitors now. Meanwhile, any specific advice on the optimal TV settings to have the least possible lag?
