El Fuerte General Discussion Thread

s. MK is a good poke, but it’s so risky. Even tho it’s great for beating out focus happy players, the range is short that it makes me hesitant to use it, which allows easy punishment.

I wish it was like Guile’s or R. Mika’s, which you can either do a jump kick that moved forward or backward. That could really up Fuerte’s feinting and poke game.

we need a bit of light-heartedness. So here’s a “flowchart” I made a while back

I still think gordita is a shenanigan / potential frame trap.

I think far mp is best for whiffing/poking.

Far mk I can’t put my finger on where to use it.

Close HK to Tostada Press is actually good. Think about it.

Close HK is a hit confirm and a half. You cancel to run you have all day to land tostada or you can just run. Great. That makes a slow normal safer.

A bit of theory fighter: blocked shower kick -> blocked close HK xx back run stop -> blocked shower kick-> close fierce.

Oh shit shenanigans time.

I’M AT WORK SOMEONE TRY THIS RIGHT NOW

Ok i need some answers to these questions cause it’s pissing me off.

  1. What do I do when adon keeps pressuring me with jaguar kicks (the flipping one). Does he have advantage?
  2. What do I do about Sagat’s knee thingy, it pretty much has th same effect on me like adon’s jaguar kicks.
  3. What are some good things to do agianst chun-li. I raped one but there was another who just prdicted EVERYTHING i did. Is there anything that is effective on them as a fuerte player?
  4. Does anyone else have a hard time with doing rsf from the left side?

Adon. Didn’t Kai hit gamerbee out of it with a well placed cr mp?

Sagat knee: block one hit he safe enjoy your guess. Blocked two hits punish him. If he is going for it and you know it, run back tostada or tortilla.

Chun. Don’t let her floaty jump throw you off. Use more run stops. Your airthrow is better and she can’t catch you anyway.

I can’t Rsf >_>

If someone is predicting your fuerte, it doesn’t matter which char they are using, it will give them a huge advantage. My guess is that player’s skill was simply a step ahead of yours. Try your hand at some new tricks to keep them guessing. What were you doing that was getting stuffed so much?

I play on a stick, rsf is much easier on a stick imo~ Either way, all you can do is practice. Many players have difficulty performing things on one side or another when they first pick something up. Just put some time into it and you’ll find it easier either way.

One thing in particular that the chun player did that threw me off was when even though i predicted a jump and went for the airthrow i eat a neutral j.hk. wtf…

And for adon, cr.mp or cr.mk? I’ve never seen cr.mp used for anything lol.

So sagat’s knee leads to a mixup huh. Can a backdash stop us from getting hit?

And s-laughter, I play on stick and been practicing rsf for a long time, just hard for me on left side. and yes the chun player may have been a better player but although i tried MANY gimmicks he saw them all. Chun’s large backdash was killing me, so was that neutral j.hk. Also, she’s just so skinny so when i try to cross her or something i miss, it’s fucked.

Guac throw? or regular air throw? Chun has one of the best nutral jump hk’s in the game… I think I’d either ex-guac her, or run back and get her on the way down with a splash or tortilla throw. Practice changing your run directions, that has helped me get a lot of tortilla throws against ppl who jump when fuerte runs up on them.

For rsp - practice practice practice… What are you getting when you rsf on the left side? Are you getting crouching hp or far hp? Are you getting 1 rep, and just can’t keep it going? What you are getting can show where your execution is messing it up for you.

I would just like to say, I like advice but there are times when you are tlaking like if I’m a complete scrub. I’m not, I may not be as good compared to the rest but I do know my stuff so when you say stuff like practice changing run directions…I do that all the time lol…

As for chun I like the idea of a guac throw, for some reason it did not occur to me because I kept attempting the air throw thinking it was my timing (which it still might be lol). And I did ty the surprise tortilla but again, the backdashes were killing me.

when on the right I can get 3 100% now, and do 4 about 70%, 5 about 30%

On the left side, I do two and a crouching hp (I like that you mention this as an example, thank you). I just find it ackward to do qcs consistently on that side on the stick but in match I’m running like crazy. I think I psych myself out at times because I focus on how it feels doing that motion. Anyways, any input on that you can give me would be nice.

No matter who asks me why their computer isn’t turning on… my first question is “is it plugged in?” You gotta start at the basics and work your way up.

The reason I had a crouching hp come out while trying to rsf was that I was getting ahead of myself, and starting the run motion early… gotta make sure the hp comes out first. It might be the same problem you’re having, is that when you’re on the left, your hand does a different motion… and so you do it early… where you’re df motion is more comfortable on the right, and so it is better timed.

Sry if I spoke down to you. I don’t claim any glory at this game. I just love fuerte. Sounded like a problem I could help with. No offense intended.

alright thanks. And that early input of qc when on the left has gotta be the case I’ll work on it.

Tested cl. mk on CH and nothing linked, not even a jab.

Also, I got my stick fixed today (shoutouts to Stevercakes) but I played like garbage. I can averagely RSF 4 times after a month and a half with no stick which is pretty good. Bad thing is my cr.mk loop skills have been deteriorating.

I don’t think any GOOD Hawk’s do whiff dive > command grab. Dive has too much recovery, you get punished really easily.

OH SHIT! OWEN HART IS BACK FROM THE DEAD STAY HERE MY BRO NEEDS AN AUTOGRAPH!!!

Seriously now, I must be slow on reaction to it as I kept getting caught by that. I’ll keep that in mind.

Ok here are more questions. And hopefully blueblazer sticks around to help.

  1. Can tostada cross thawk’s ghetto srk? And does he have advantage or disadvantage after his horizontal dash attack thing? When does a thawk usually input a command grab and do I just jump it?

  2. On thawk’s wakeup, do i treat it like cammy’s cannon spike and simply wait for him to get on the ground rather than charging a focus attack? I find that he always magaes to get behind me so my focus misses or I waste the opportunity.

  3. Does tostada also cross honda’s butt stomp? And is s.mp better than s.hk to beat headbutt?

  4. Is there a slightly different timing to rsf on fatasses and ryu/ken?

Bison blocks my far hk, he’s in the corner I buffer ultra and do it anyway. Lol.

  1. yes.
  2. no, not really. he has less recovery, so he may commandgrab you right off.
  3. no, it doesnt. no, st.hk is better.
  4. not really.

Just be a bit careful on the reeling animation that shotos like Ryu & Ken have. If you RSF them without focus, their animation might push them away far enough to make the second hit whiff. But if your RSF timing is exactly on point, it shouldn’t matter if they reel or not from what I know, and timing is the same for all in that case.

EDIT: st.hk is VERY consistent in punishing headbutts. Also remember that Honda’s butt stomp can be focused, so bait it and punish.

Yeah f+mk to cl hk is a bad bad idea.

Oh well.

Can you guys please elabortate a bit more on the thawk questions as well, thanks. It’s just that I’m confused when I try to splash, their ghetto srk ALWAYS ends up coming out and either hitting me or the move happened and my tostada missed. I’m also confused by thawk’s horizontal dash attack thing because they either get a command grab after or cr. lps on me. Is it just that it’s a decent move that leads to a mix-up or does it have disadvantage on block, because if that is the case i don’t know why I’m not able to grab it.

Also new questions

  1. What are some good options when I land a cross up elbow and they jumped so their reset. I am always thrown off because I had the intention of elbow to st.hp to slide and instead I reset. I usually always lose at the reset so I was wondering what are some nice followups to it.

  2. So to get this straight, Honda’s butt stomp is not to be tried to cross with a tostade but rather to be baited into a focus attack to rsf or simply ex guac leg throw it? Can i just bait it and instead of focus walk up to rsf or will his buffering of another butt stomp come out before I can nail s. hp?

  3. Seeing as ryu and ken “seem” to have a different timing to me, and now that I know it is not of difference but rather of accuracy, is it better to practice rsf on ryu and ken which should inevitably lead to better timing overall on rsf on all chars?

I know I ask many questions and I thank you guys for being patient and always answering, I just wanna say everytime you guys answer I apply it immediately to my style and mu knowledge and have great results from it so thanks.

And S-laughter, you were right on my timing of rsf from the left, I do input run early now I got it down so thanks.

It seems that way to practice RSF. I will tell you, though, that it’s extremely tough to do it on Hakan.
