El Fuerte Cusine: The Thread of Delicious Mexican Food!

If any of you travel to Mexico City, please do not hesitate to tell me, I’ll give you the tour … food, drinks, places, friendly SF4 matches, all !!!
Don’t worry about crime … That only happens in Cd. Juarez … : (
Anyway if you come please tell me

I found out about that last week from a guy who grew up there about all the murders that happen every year. Then there’s the drugs.

Thanks a lot for the recommendations, I was surprised myself to find out that we have Mexican Restaurants in UAE, here is the one I like the most: http://www.timeoutabudhabi.com/restaurants/reviews/4641-cantina-laredo
I doubt it is completely authentic, but it has all the common mexican dishes and they do taste really good  This one doesn’t have Horchata, but there is one in Dubai city that had it and it was addictive!

Yea I heard about the crimes, it concerns me slightly, but after checking with people who went there, they told me that only few areas are dangerous, and as long as I don’t do anything stupid (walk alone at night in a backalley lol) everything should be fine. I also heard that Southern Mexico is a lot safer, and there is a lot of culture there with many of the ruins focused in that region, not sure if this is true. But really thanks for the info buddy  and good luck making that horchata!!

Thank you sooo much, this is really nice of you! I think one day we should gather a bunch of Fuerte fans and go on a group trip to Mexico, that would be really cool!! I still have no clear plan on when i plan to visit, but I will try to either go later this year or next year. I was initially not very interested in Mexico City, since I thought it would be just like most big cities, but after seeing a documentary on it I completely changed my mind! There is plenty of culture, lots of exotic places, and some fantastic ruins. And of course, there is lucha libre XD and friendly people who carry the Fuerte spirit like yourself

Yess !! Like “ElFuerte Great Convention: SF4 masters united” serving mexican food dishes, cool drinks like Sangrias, Horchatas, Champurados, etc. Purchase & sale of accessories relating to ElFuerte as masks, keychains and lots more !!

Lucha Libre Shows and of course friendly SF4 matches and a tournament to see who’s the Ultimate ElFuerte player

That would be great !!!

Thanks amigo !!!

Next time order a glass of milk.

Milk is a clear counter-pick for Mexican food.

I can only imagine the hell we’d go through just to organize a group trip to Mexico. If we were to do this, maybe we should try at EVO. Of course, I wouldn’t be able to go.

I think we’d lose our minds with Fuerte mirror matches based on our personal experiences. Still, it’d be fun as hell.

You know, I got to wonder whether or not the other character communities are as close knit and eager as us.

I doubt it… I believe that there isn’t another community like ours just check the events made in Japan about ElFuerte, they gather and share about this great character, winning with ElFuerte is harder but more rewarding… can you imagine be just another Sagat, Ryu or Akuma? I don’t … don’t misunderstand me I like the roster and I occasionally play with another characters… but nothing like ElFuerte

By the way, here another mexican dish “Cochinita Pibil or Puerco Pibil” it’s just delicious:

Don’t forget the same event had chef El Fuerte cosplayers and a gang of them in El Fuerte masks. I think Dan might be the only other character with a fanbase like Fuerte’s.

Yea that event was really awesome, made me feel that Fuerte fans are special  I am proud to be a Fuerte fan!

That’s also where I got the idea for the sig thing. When I saw those cosplayers, I couldn’t help but think of it as a Japanese cholo gang.

Man i really want one of those masks.

I just tried the horchata I made last night, a Mexican variant with vanilla, cinnamon, and rice. At first it was watery, possibly because I put in too much crushed ice last night, but adding sugar made it better. I’ll be having some more today with my granny’s flan cake.

Can u Fedex some of it pleeeease T_T is it hard to make? maybe I should give it a shot once I get some free time

It’s more messy than difficult. To save you some trouble, I recommend getting a strainer that can fit in your pitcher do you don’t have the drink leaking out of the strainer’s holes while pouring it out to rid the rice sediment of the liquid you’ll be drinking. You may or may not want to put the crushed ice in there overnight. If you think it needs water, just put some ice in your glass so as to not screw up the whole batch.

Some recipes call for it to soak the rice in water overnight, but this one called for only an hour. In total, it might take you two hours to make if you’re not used to making food like me. I remember making fajita quesadillas with my dad supervising and that took a good two hours.

Also, vanilla, especially Mexican vanilla, is god tier for sweetest scents ever. I hearby declare costume 1, color 1 Fuerte, Vanilla Fuerte.

Damn! I feel like Al from FMA when he adds to his list of foods to eat when he gets his body back.

Tace bell =/= true mexican food…
just as Chinese Take-out =/= chinese food, or sushi @food courts =/= japanese food.
It’s merely the surface or a misleading imitation.

Mind you i never had taco bell before, but I have heard of those “stories” about taco bell, and just about every fast food restaurant.

Vanilla Fuerte FTW XD

That horchata sounds like something I can easily mess up, since my cooking skills are infamous among my friends

Once I get some time off, I think I will give it a shot! I suspect my family will go nuts the moment they see me go to the kitchen, but I will make sure to sneak in there and LOCK the door loool

@kumaoso: Also, what kind of rice would you recommend for the horchata? anything specific?

The recipe calls for white long grain rice. I don’t think there’s a particular brand I’d recommend.

Hey how about a “Chalupas” and “Pambazos”, you must try one of these… delicious !!
