Eightarc Stick Problem

Posted this to the Eightarc thread but I’m not sure how much traffic that gets, so I thought I’d give it a shot over here. Hopefully I just need a quick fix.

I’m having a problem with the stick hitching and making an odd clicking noise when I do a partial motion down left. It does this every time I do a down left but it’s most pronounced if I do a partial motion (move it just enough not to hit the direction inputs). It doesn’t make the noise in any other direction. I made a video for reference**.**

It’s not too loud in that video so you have to turn the volume up a bit. Is this fixable or did I get a bad stick?

EDIT!!: I took out the stick, re-seated the spring and wiped a little of the grease off the washer cover. Looks like that solved the problem. Thread can be deleted if possible.

I have similar problem with the new Eigharc Fusion Ivory stick making weird squeaking noise at corners. My top left and bottom right corners make odd grinding noise when I push against them.

When I move my stick to the right, it squeaks when it springs back to neutral position.

My MADCATZ Chun-Li Limited Edition TE-S did not have any of these problems.

I’m not sure what is going on.

Is your execution off on the stick?

Can we get internal pics of the JLF inside?

For me, the sounds are mot that much to be concern if your game play isn’t effected.

I opened it up and I found the problem. The square restrictor plate insert is loose. Not sure if there’s any possible solution other than to buy a new gate. Damn I just voided my warranty lol.

I opened mine up and fiddled around as well. I completely dismantled my stick, re-seated the spring and wiped the grease off the washer cover per a thread somewhere that mentioned that Sanwa JLF popping noises were usually a result of too much grease on the washer. There’s no hitch anymore, but now I get a squeaking noise. I assume I took off too much grease so I’m going to buy some Shin Etsu. Been a bit of a pain for such a nice stick otherwise.

I ended up supergluing the square restictor insert to the restrictor. Hopefully this will stop the movement. I already ordered a spare one from Focus Attack.

Not an issue really. Also you going to open that stick up sooner or later because parts do wear out eventually, and Arcade parts are designed to be swappable.

If you going to re-lube, remember you need a Pea sized amount.

And you ruined it. There is absolutely no reason to super glue anything on a joystick.
Focus fire, you mean Focus Attack?

Yes, it’s Focus Attack.

Maybe ruined in a sense that I no longer can swap out the insert for a different gate style. Prior to the fix, when I move my stick to the corners, the restrictor gate would wedge (due to the loose insert) around if I grind it slightly. This was very annoying to me since I wanted a solid feel, not a wiggly corner
