Christianity and Islam are both incredibly misogynistic. Let’s not argue about this.
The difference is, many of the prominent countries that practice Christianity have realized that misogyny isn’t a civilized way to behave, whereas many of the prominent countries that practice Islam have not. This is not an issue of religious canon, so much as an issue of social power structures.
We all know what the Bible says, but our society has evolved to the point where most of us realize that some of the shit the Bible tells us to do is, quite frankly, deranged. It only took us the entirety of the Dark Ages (and then some) to figure it out, and we’re still not quite over it. There are many other countries in the world–some of which conspicuously follow That Other Abrahamic Religion–that haven’t gotten the message.
I just love the shit that pops up in the “Recently Active Threads” at the top of the page. First I see this, then next I refresh and see “Woman kills man by squeezing balls in fight”. LOL
