Efficient cross up attacks of a short jump

efficient cross up attacks off a short jump.

Haven’t seen a thread about this, so decided to do one.

Now, some of the short jump cross-up attacks are good tools for a mixup game…

the three most obvious ones are:

kyo : tall opponent is down, which can lead to cross up short jump crouching fierce.

chun’s short jump cross up into lightning kicks.

blanka short jump cross up with forward into electricity.

Sagat and Ken have tricky timing on their short jump cross up.

for Sagat, upon the opponent waking up, he has to hit (and he can confirm this ) his opponent very late with the short jump light kick cross up, which can then proceed to tiger knee, uppercut, or super. Im not sure if he is in frame advantge or not if his opponent blocks this attack however…dunno if somebody can test this out.

as for ken, his short jump forward crossup into super or uppercut only works on tall opponents from what I have observed, and the timing is strict, but u can also hit/confirm (since its a jump-in), and I do believe that the attack grants frame advantage, although somebody should test it out.

im gonna experiment this with more characters next.

I don’t see why any of those attacks would leave you at a frame disadvantage. If cammy can hit high with a jumping short and still have time to smoke a spliff and combo, why shouldn’t the others be able to also?

At any rate, hibiki has a really nice one too. Short jump, roundhouse…

gonna try to see if rolento can short jump cross up forward into trip wire super…becomes more deadly, since the opponent has to block low right after if he blocked the prior attack.

Sagat can combo off of low jump crossover lk with down lk or standing lp. It’s a really tight link though.

I must be missing something here. Do short jump attacks have extra recovery?

from what I have observed countless times, especially with high priority attacks like blanka’s short jump roundhous, with really good timing the character can add crouching light kicks.

Although I don’t have a frame data booklet, I can only answer that bad timing on the attack gives extra recovery, which makes the opponent at a disadvantage.

s.lp x2 (blocked) low jump over late mk (crosses up) tripwire

low jump mk with Geese is probably one of the best cross-ups.

Short jumps have extra recovery, but it can be cancelled with special/super moves.

And it can also link into normals, like the example I gave earlier.

Geese mk cross over low jump can combo with s.lk x2, c.mk xx lvl.3 super.

The mk cross over low jump is quite confusing to block.

Is the same thing, if you crossover with an attack it’s still a cross over. If you go to the other side it’s a crossup. So what are you talking about.

I like the old terminology better shrug. “Crossover” just conjures up images of really bad comic books.

Mai on tall characters with short jump cross up light kick (unless she can add normal attacks with good timing, I see this useful only for trying to land one of her supers)

Yamazaki short jump cross up with roundhouse into whatever.

I’ve seen Nuki do a regular jumping mk crossup into cr.lk
Both hits were blocked and he went into lj.mk, lp.DP right after. 'twas pretty good.
