Edmonton Thread - 2012

yeah I think what jimmy means is some of the rooms at gmac require you to use a login (to gmac) before you are able to use their net

hehehehehe. i wont be going to WNF at OK no more cause i dont feel like sleeping late and waking up for early ass classes. ill be an online warrior though

If you aren’t willing to go to school on no sleep, you’re missing out on learning the one life lesson it truly offers: doing shit you hate while dead fucking tired.

you can’t call it wnf or valle will come after you.true story. Also, isn’t this post 3 months too late?

School is a little different tho cause it sets you up to do the things you want to do in life. Unless your getting an Art degree then it’s just setting you up to work at starbucks.

Become a psych major, flip burgers for life!

Or major in philosophy and … do nothing with it

It’s like you have a major in anything.

Mugen take me now!

Stay classy Japan

Yooooooo, I want this so hard. MUGEN, TAKE ME NOW!!!

What MvC3 should have looked like.
But just like SF4, pretty graphics = sales.

Neo Geo Battle Coliseum 2, let’s go!

To be fair, MK9 is just as guilty for excessive T&A. :stuck_out_tongue:

Defending Japan… What a weeaboo.
That’s why you don’t use good ol’ Americans in KOF, like me.
ANDY, RAIDEN, CLARK.

So gotta make a new AV with those sprites.

Yeah lots of fighting games have serious T&A going on, but I’ll never understand why it’s only japan that does the water balloon with helium titty thing.

Anyone going to OK tonight?

yes it is 3 months too late. i miss u guys already.

however if there are game nights on tuesdays and thursdays i may be able to go

We are back with more KOF13.

come join us if you’re bored!

Hi Everyone,

I’ve read a few of the posts here and just wanted to pass on my thoughts.

BTW for those of you who don’t know me I’m Tim, the Owner of OverKlocked.

I have no wishes to cause any drama, or plead our case or anything I’d just like to lay out the information as we’ve come to see it since we’ve been doing specific nights for different games.

First OverKlocked was created with the intention of growing the community in all different areas. People can play at home, but I myself am a fan of social gaming, meeting new people, learning new things improving and growing the community around that base. We’ve tried to create a place where gamers can feel comfortable and welcome and do our best to provide a fun atmosphere.

The reason we are increasing our Prices (We have pushed this Back to February due to the abrupt change) is because we have to in order to justify sustaining Fight Night as an event. Our original concept and hope for Fight Night was that people would come in on fight night, and meet people, have a good time and come back other times during the week to hang out. This was the reason we were able to justify setting the price to $5.00 . Instead we have seen that about 95% of the faces we see on Fight Night we only see Fight Night, which forced us to re-evaluate the business model.

Our Regular rates for non-members are $4.00 / hour, and members can go to as cheap as $2.50 which is why our other gaming Nights, SC2/League are $10.00 from 6pm-10pm 4 hours at our cheapest rate.

For fight night, because people requested in the past we decided to stay open an extra hour, so it’s from 7pm-1am which is 6hours and at $5.00 that is less than a dollar an hour, which is much lower than any other pricing model we offer. By Increasing it to $10.00 it’s still a better deal than we are offering anyone else.

As to the stream, I think it’s awesome to get players on the internet and I’m 100% for it. It’s exactly what we’re about and I absolutely do not care 1 iota about possible internet bandwidth costs. No concern to me at all.

What I hope everyone can understand is we at OverKlocked want to keep providing an environment to grow/support and sustain the community. But in order to do that we have to keep our doors open, and in order to do that I have to break even as a business.

I have also been trying to brainstorm some ideas with steve as to how people could potentially “win” a free pass to Fight Night, as sort of a prize to the mini tournaments that seem to be happening each week.

Anyways I hope you can all see it a little from our perspective.

If anyone has any questions/thoughts/concerns feel free to talk to me anytime when I’m in the shop. I’m normally the guy who forgot to shave wearing the nerdy t-shirt playing League of Legends.

All the best,

Tim Cooper
