Yeah sadly j.S Rider doesnt have much going for him… he’s fun and all but he’s practically a one trick pony =/

Well he’s got good/decent damage. He can’t really open people up though unless you use J.s :/. But i haven’t really seen people using 6H much and i personally think ghost rider is insanely good at punishing assist’s. ghost rider is anti-assist? he’s standing H rapes dooms assists also sentinels and others. Well that’s how i would play him, catch any if not most assist for damage.

Edit: also i think if they only made his QCB combo grab moves actual command grabs like super-skrulls then it would help him a lot. But leave the anti-air ones non-command grabs because that
’d be broken.

I like to catch assists and snap in the bleeders. Basically play a war of attrition until Ghost Rider gets bodied by something he doesn’t have the tools to stop.

Yeah that definitely seems the way to go with him right now. I was trying Tron, Ghost Rider, Doctor Doom. and Tron and Ghost rider have some weird synergy, not the best though.
What are ghost riders just hopeless matchups atm? I wish there was a get off me assist with invincibility like vanilla Trons or vanilla Haggar. Ultimate Haggar doesn’t really cover it with his assist, plus he’s better on point.
Could they change something like combo-grabs into actual commands grabs after Evo in the balance patch? Sounds pretty big to me but if they could then i say we petition or something lol…

I’d say the worst of the worst are probably… Hawkeye, Magneto, Taskmaster, Zero, Wesker, Dante, Trish, Viper, Joe, Ammy, Racoon, Deadpool and Cap. I don’t think he has a positive or even match up against any high/top tier though, he probably goes even with most mid tiers and he bullies other people that are in the low tier.

The worst match ups IMO are ones with characters who can play a strong runaway zoning game. Ghost Rider just doesn’t have any answers. He struggles against strong rush down also, but has some limited if not great options. I wouldn’t mind seeing his normals get something like Dorm’s where they can eat a few projectiles. The command grab option would greatly improve the character and give him actual legit mix up options.

Yeah definitely, make the srk.M move have greater pushback on block. fix the wonky j.h hitbox. plus the command grab thing and he becomes a much better character. it’d be cool if his standing S could eat fireballs like ryus or akumas or firebrands. would help alot when the opponent is in the corner and you’re midscreen and they throw a fireball and you punish for a air combo. But could they do all of that in one patch?

They could, but they won’t.

There better do something substantial then to ghost rider if not any of that. Atleast make him a B rate character.

Haha, always keep trying. Just know the limitations and work around them the best you can. You never know, maybe we will all find some great Ghost Rider tech in the coming months.

I just had a couple of ideas pop in my head that im gonna hit the lab with. I can feel that resets with out commands grabs are gonna be zilch other than basic stuff. I wish we could get a lot of people with experience finding good tech with low tier characters to jump on ghost rider. There’s almost no ghost rider Tournament footage.

For my bnb, I use:
st.H, H xx QCB L, Call Dorm (Dark Hole), Back H, st. H, H, DP M, st. H, H xx QCB L, Call Strange (Bolts), Back H, st. H (during first Bolt) xx QCB L, QCF L xx Maelstrom does 701k unmashed and 715k to 735k mashed.

First and foremost, I just want to say that I don’t actually play Ghost Rider, and came up with this team on request for a friend who wanted to find synergy between Chris and Ghost Rider. I happen to stumble upon some pretty neat tricks with this team and wanted to get the input of this forum to see if I could further improve these combo’s/strategies. The team is as follows (Ghost Rider, Chris Redfield, Sentinel).

Chris’s “grenade toss” assist will give Ghost Rider protection from the inside (Vergil Teleports, Mag Tridash, etc) and Sentinel’s “Charge” will further assist Ghost Rider on controlling spacing. Here a few concept combo’s that I came up with. Please let me know what you think. There are more on my page showing how Ghost Rider’s Chain of Rebuttal assist actually benefits the team as well in a lot of situations.

Wait, have you actually ever got anyone with those Penance Stare setups? they look easy to avoid.

In all honesty, I haven’t got anyone in those set ups because most of the time my Ghost Rider gets bodied. But these set ups can definitely catch a lot of people that are sleeping. It not something you can get away with all the time.

Yeah, I have tried them out against people outside of my normal play group with success. It’s really a works once kind of deal, but nice to have in your pocket for tourney play or when out of town people come to take your money.

The question is, how do they get out of it and are there any good ways to punish that so you can mix them up between penance snare and whatever that is. Is UP+BACK the way to get out of it? If so would air-throw be the way to go? Or just let them jump away to maintain optimal distance?

Yea UP+BACK is one of the ways you can get out of it. Also, some lvl 1 and lvl 3 supers that have a bunch of invincibility can blow threw penance stare. In terms of punishing UP+BACK I think you can go for an air throw or call an assist and dash under them for a mix up if your fast enough. But Ghost Rider isn’t really able to get anything out of an air throw unless it is in the corner.
