EAT CHAIN! -The Ghost Rider Combo/Strategy Thread

Thread title should be “Feel the torment of a billion billion extinguished souls!” :rofl:

Anyway, here are the sample combos that Max did in the Ghost Rider Assist Me episode:

(corner only)
j.:s:,:h:,:h:,:dp:+:l:, j.:m:, j.:m:, j.:s:,:m:,:s:, j.:m:, j.:m:, j.:s:,:qcf:+:l:,:qcf:+:atk::atk:

(4 bars)

Day 1 messing around with GR. Nothing fancy, so please ignore this if the guide or others find more damaging combos.

Standard Day 1 BNB (~620K damage):
(j.:s:), :h:, :h:, :f::d::df::l:, (dash) :h:, :h:, :s:, sj.:m:, ( j.:m: ), j.:s:, land, :f::d::df::atk::atk:, :s: followup

Standard Day 1 BNB w/ Dante Jam Session Assist (~670K damage):
(j.:s:), :h:, :h:, :f::d::df::l:, (dash) :h:, :h:, :s:, sj.:m:, ( j.:m: ), j.:s:, land, :a1:, :b::h:, :d::db::b::m:, :f::d::df::atk::atk:, :s: followup

A dash is required after Chain of Rebuttal ( :f::d::df::l:) if you are not near a corner. Some characters may be floaty or have very small hitboxes, so the second j.:m: might whiff.

If I don’t want to spend any meter at the end of my combos, I usually call an assist and OTG/meaty a Heartless Spire ( :b::h:). Not sure if this is the optimal or even correct thing to do, but the recovery on Heartless Spire is very quick and even if they forward roll a meaty one you should be safe.

I haven’t really found an optimal use for X-Factor yet.

Hope this gives people some ideas!

:h:,:h: :dp::l: :h::h: :qcb: :l: :qcf::l: :qcf: :atk::atk: Is a pretty basic bnb.

If you catch yourself doing an:h:in the midst of a counter hyper, don’t count yourself out. Unless the chain is right in front of the opponent, you can cancel the startup into Hellfire to save your boney ass. Same goes for cr.:m:too.

I was over a friends house for a release party, before that I went to GS to buy the guide and put the remainder on KoFXIII. Couldnt get the book because it was street dated (WTF!?!?!). Went over my friends house and someone eventually brought the book out. I dont know if you guys read it, but all of GH’s jumping normal attacks (L,M,H ) are overheads and is RIDICULOUS pluses on block. J.:l: is +12, J.:m: is +16 and J.:h: is +19. Also I was thinking about J.:s:. If you pair that up with a low hitting assist, its unblockable.

I’ve found that solo combos for Ghost do more damage and have better meter gain if you do the bike super.

H, H xx dp+L, [dash] H, H, S ^ j.M, j.S, land Bike super > S follow up at the end. It does more meter than the one that ends with

I’m not getting the same damage values as you for your other combos. I’m not doing the jump S to start it though. I think it’s better to not include jump attacks in the beginning of a combo if you are checking it for damage and meter gain. Your call bro.

Does anyone have any ideas for a max damage combo that would end in a move that sends the opponent full screen? The reason is I like Ghost Rider as a battery for Dorm and I dont feel he gets alot damage wise out of finishing combos with any of his supers. I’d rather just send them away from me at the end of a combo to keep them away and build more meter through blockstrings and harassment.

Perform the combo listed above you, but end it with QCB+:m: instead of :h: (assuming you’re using Hidden Missiles, of course).

lol nah I like beam for ghost rider personally. QCB + M sounds like a good combo ender for what I want though.

Can someone with the guide post the frame (dis)advantage on block for his st. B, cr. B, the 2nd hit of H,H, Launcher, Spire, and qcf+A/dp+A?

Ghost rider is amazing! totally my style, finally!

M C R: your second combo is my regular BNB. i use firebrand and hoop Assist. i was able to come up with over 750~ by adding another loop and a finisher of qcb+M , into OTG~ super.

pretty interesting…finally UMVC3 is way active in here so i will be able to share and have fun reading/ watching people sharings as well

Hey guys. Just made a quick and dirty DAY ONE BnB/BnB Variant video. I would greatly appreciate it if you guys checked it out. Comments and suggestions greatly appreciated. Hopefully this is helpful or inspiring to someone out there. I know for sure these are not the maximum damage potential - these are just things I have been able to do thus far. I am sure someone smarter then me will find some really sick stuff in the future.

Well I found out something with Rocket Raccoon. Nearish the corner (seems to work from about 1/4 to 3/4 a screen from the edge.

It isn’t exactly the most complicated find ever so I’m probably not the first to find it, but I have got up to 550k meterless (can add a hyper) so far with it and it’s super easy to do.

I’m going to experiment with 2 assist combos thanks to the post before mine with the awesome Dorm assists, seeing as also use him on my team.

works, the damage isn’t that impressive but the meter gain seems pretty high.

i have a solo lvl1 xfc, lvl1 super that does 1,050,700

H,H xx qcb+L, back+H xx XFACTOR, j.B, j.S, H,H, DP+B, dash, H,H,S, sj.B, sj.S, land, hellfire L xx qcf+L+B THEN MASH UNTIL THEY’RE DEAD!
