How’s it going in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area?
One of the windows was blown out in my sister’s room (luckily no one was actually in the room so we were fine and the window itself wasn’t broken or even cracked in the slightest). Other than that I was doing fine, with my chips and soda, playing Skullgirls on XBL. Power didn’t even go out!
Apparently the power must be out at work or something so I’m stuck at home again 
This is the craziest fucking gallery I’ve ever seen. Not that I haven’t seen disaster photos that are worse - It’s that I recognize some of these places… HOLY FUCK.

Power’s still out in my city. So many downed trees and power lines, it’s gonna be a minute before they clean up around here. Better check on Jersey City since so many roads are closed…

The human response to destruction is a major component to my interest in storms. Next month I’ll finish my Red Cross certification to provide emergency mental health services to people in disaster areas, so I was looking for some ways I might be able to immerse myself into a disaster before hand.

The Red Cross actually has mental health disaster response teams. Research shows that people who receive immediate counseling after a traumatic event tend to have a lower likelihood of developing severe issues like PTSD, especially in children. It’s volunteer work, but they do pay for your travel and lodging.
For me it’s a way to help those in need and get some experience working with traumatic stress and anxiety disorders, which is what I’m interested in.

Yea, some places got totally wrecked (mostly zone A) and some places nothing happened (zone C).
