Has anyone on SRK checked out this show yet? When I watched the 1st episode, I really hated Kenny Powers. But for that same reason, I knew I had to watch it. If a show makes me truly hate a character, I know i’m going to enjoy it. Kind of how you can’t believe some of the stuff Larry David does on Curb your Enthusiasm.
Anyway, the 1st season is only 6 episodes and it just ended not too long ago. I love the cast. And I love the way the shows conclude. They’re always very melancholic, but Kenny’s personality ruins any emotional moment in a good way.
Steve Janowski is a ridiculous character! Definitely a favorite.
It’s so sad how many “Kenny Powers” I know IRL (minus the major league experience). Buncha blowhards who only talk about their child support payments, highschool and taking their jet skis on the lake. Finally a show to make fun of these fuckers.
Perfectly cast, even down to that coke whore on the bar…and so many quotables!
VSlash and I have been riding this train ever since it left the station, RECOGNIZE BITCHES
The first episode or two are tougher to get through, but I’m surprised at how quickly the show hits its stride in only six episodes. Was that really the season finale? Sucks, they had momentum going too.
Although if it’s canceled at this point and only goes the six episodes, we can all be like elitist indie television snobs, and bust out lines at parties like “Oh you didn’t see Eastbound & Down? There were only six episodes, it was the greatest show ever.”
And the fact that it died early would forever enhance our memory of it (aka The Kurt Cobain Effect). Just like Arrested Development.
(Just kidding, Arrested Development was legitimately the greatest show ever.)
“Listen here you beautiful bitch. I am about to fuck you up with some truth.”
Last episode had way too many quotables.
EDIT:
Haha, holy shit, 106 K’s in only 66.3 innings? Over 14 K/9, that’s some craziness.
