Easiest Character To Use?

Yeah, just to clarify: I’m looking for the easiest character to use. He can be the shittiest and have all losing matchups, I just want a character I can get into immediately without having to grind training mode. Anyway, thanks for the input. I’m sticking with Yang and working on a pocket Alex.

I’m not saying Q is easier but I think everyone “gets” what you you do with Q. You kara throw, Punch into Super, Taunt, build meter, etc. It’s actually doing that well that’s hard. Whereas Alex isn’t as straightforward. Does that make sense? Am I insane?

i don’t think you’re insane lol but powerbomb also puts you far away from the character, not just EX flash chop.
i don’t know everything there is to know about alex but i’ve been using him for like 10 yrs now and have seen a lot of Genki and KSK play for example. they do stuff like jump in lp into shit and that was something i didn’t think was useful until trying it myself. it comes out super fast and has good range.
you have to get creative in the sense that you are limited with alex and figuring out how to use him best with the little he has. that part is hard. i know some people get offended if you say their main is “easy” but i think alex is one of the funnest characters to use and i love his character design as well as his simplicity. he is the culmination of BADASS! and i wish he was in more sf games.

I think Elena is really easy. There’s nothing complex about her gameplan or execution. She has useable tools for every situation. Her back roundhouse deals really well with people who like to empty jump throw, and deals reasonably well with a lot of divekick stuff.

She’s also a good gateway into better characters. Can directly transfer into Chun after starting with Elena. Or anyone who emphasizes the ground game really.

Only downside of Elena is she has some gimmicks that can sidetrack you from learning how to play solid when you’re first starting out.

Against Dudley on wakeup people will wakeup low parry then go to neutral, or wakeup low parry/block then jump out.

I feel like people think this is what you can do every time but it factors out the dudley thinking at all. Also I feel like chun and elena have such fast pokes/walkspeed that its like playing invisible footsies online. Can’t really learn much by it imo.

otherwise i think shotos, chun, elena, yang are pretty straightforward. aside from character specific juggles i always thought dudley was fairly accessible. i dont think it makes much of a difference in 3s though. ive seen beginners learn pretty fast with yun, q, etc. imo in 3s how technical you want to be is largely reliant on playstyle you choose. maybe yun, urien and makoto offer a pretty high ceiling, but otherwise i think the player can decide how simple or advanced they prefer to be with any character

easy to “win with” at high level is basically just the tier list. not really a question a beginner needs to be concerned with, nor would the answer help them. the fact that chun and ken are easy to use and top tier is more or less coincidence

Saying whatever character ‘…is just doing x, y, z…’ is retarded. Q isn’t ‘just doing…’ anything. Difficulty is not a character thing.

there isn’t an easiest character to use in any sense except technical requirements for good damage.
the rest is not up to you really, your opponent is going to determine that.

edit: As far as technical though I would probably tell someone to use ryu, ken, chun, alex (i would not say yang due to too many weird normals, a dash that will get you in trouble, divekick that will get you in trouble, etc.) it mostly comes down to ease of inputs and how standard their normals/specials are. the less fighting to learn your character the more learning fighting vs other people. i would bet there is a correlation between low tier and technical players and time spent practicing alone/researching the game vs top tier players and time spent out playing vs others.
