Unfortunately, the death penalty takes forever. People could bring a child into the world today…and that kid will likely have started his college years by the time they actually execute this little shitball.
cool. let the bum sit in a cell for the entire time. He can watch American TV the whole time. I suggest some G.I. Joe, sprinkled with reality TV. Let him chew on some prison sausage for lunch and dinner. maybe catch a few news articles of his fellow terrorist getting wrecked by airstrikes, raids, random llamas, etc. make sure the rest of his life sucks as much as possible since the people he killed won’t get to have one.
…And make sure he gets weekly visits from the booty warrior. Let him get to know a true ASS-sassin all up close and personal.

Isolation might be a worst sentence than being put into general population. They don’t let you even have a blanket in isolation. 4 bare walls and a hard as rock bare “bed” to sleep. You take your meals and go to the bathroom in that same small square cell, you don’t even have shower access in isolation.
You notice in prison they almost never put child molesters in isolation, they get put in GP and then another inmate shanks the bastard in the shower.
With the appeals process it became cheaper to send someone to life in prison over the death sentence.
I say but the guy into general population and let the other inmates take “care” of him.
Some people just want to see someone who wronged them die. Even though they may know that making them suffer for their actions would be a better punishment, death just gives a sense of finality that most victims can live with.

I get that, and in most cases, I’d be fine with that. However, this guy is going to be held up like a martyr for the cause in extremist Islam circles if they pull the plug on his life.

I can’t say for certain how I’d react if I was one of the bereaved here, but I’d like to think I’d be able to say that the punishment is more torturous for him than death is, and is a safer course overall.
But again, I can’t say that I’d say that for sure, and I hope I’m never in the position where I have to choose what to say in that position.

for what it’s worth, death penalty for him is a waste of time and resources. Just put him in prison, and let people move on. Better than having to hear about him fighting against the death penalty for years, and causing people more trouble in the future.

its not about mercy, but more about letting justice be guided by rule of law and not blood thirst and vengeance.
Be it capital punishment or life in prison, neither of those two things are going to stop someone from committing premeditated murder. Those type of people will do it anyways because they’re both fucked in the head and think they can get away with it as well.
