Durham Gamefrog Results!

There was lag on the HDTV’s for SFIV. Abel resets felt more difficult than what I was accustomed to.

Did you miss any inputs while playing?

Did you miss anything in grandfinals?

As a tournament provider that to me is not good service and for that at lucky’s I will return your monye. I do regret the exsperience you had.

As tournament organizers it is our job to service the community to the best of our ability and you should go where you enjoy the service.

But until more than the exspected few step forward and have serious complaints about input disruption the tvs will stay in working format.

A bit in sf4 but not in HDR. Not a big deal 4 me just putting my 2 cents in about lag.

I had no problems with the tv’s at all.

negative ghost rider that parttern is full. HDTV now days have lag/postprocessing in vga. i have a sony 40kdlxbr4 thought the same. Though about getting HDfury glad i didnt cuz it would have been $200 pesos down the drain. Check this thread out ppls start @ post #2237 http://www.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=174085&page=90

OK, thank you for responding sir.:china:

As I said before, I had a lot of fun at this tournament.

@Lag: I play 99% online. From my experience, this does not SLOW the game down, just adds a few frames of input delay depending on who I’m playing and where. But to my point, I was unable to notice any lag on the SFIV setups. I missed my combos because I hadn’t become accustomed to no input delay offline and obviously I don’t have perfect execution. But I don’t believe lag hurt my game at all.

Now my credibility isn’t as good as most other people’s and normally I wouldn’t stick my neck out here but, Ed was a good host and I kind of owe it to him to leave some honest feedback. In all honesty, the only thing that was bad about this tourny was my performance.

Yo ed you were & are a good host. I dont think ppl are implying that u werent @ all.

I understand and I appeciate that very much P$mone$ Y. Been donig this for quite sometime and I seem to never get tiered of it. Fighting games are too good.

Lock-in on Feb 12, 2010, thread up tommorow.

gs count me in i should have went to last one but not missing this one! I’m hungry!

Just gonna toss in 2 cents here real quick on lag. I think it’s important to remember that in some games, lag can effect some characters greater than others. For example, Tekken6. If there is lag, a Kuma/Roger players will know right away. For example, Kuma launches with [df+2,1] juggles with [f+1], db+1,2, then bound finisher. Online, or with lag, the db+1,2 for bound will whiff more often than not. You have to hit f+1 immediately after recovering from the launcher. It’s not a just frame or anything, but there isn’t much leniency with timing. It’s one of Kuma’s staples, and pretty much his only option after df+2,1 launch. So Kuma players will find out rather fast if there is considerable lag. With Roger, one of the staple combos is hopkick, df+4,f+4,3,2, then bound finisher. Due to lag, after you hit df+4, opponent is pretty much grazing the ground. So again, thanks to lag, when you follow with f+4,3,2… opponent is teching.

But some characters have juggles that work like a charm even with lag, such as Nina and Law. So these players may have a more difficult time realizing there is some lag.

Just giving examples, or making a point on why some people noticed lag, while others say it was fine. Obviously somebody playing Honda is going to take longer to realize there is lag than say somebody who is playing Gen. Even then, the Honda player may not even notice it. Dan, being another example. Even with lag, Dan’s close standing strong to far standing strong link is very easy. Where as Gen, who has links that are very strict, can find them hard to do even without lag. So even though it’s the same game, the lag isn’t comparing apples to apples for all the players/characters involved.

But at the end of the day, that’s the name of the game. And it’s up to player to adjust if they wish to compete I guess. Seeing as everything is pretty much consoles, and everybody is using different TV’s, you are going to come across these issues pretty often.

Jive Out!

Double post.

I agree 100% we are all playing on different tvs and it is on the player to adjust. I played a roger in the T6 tournament and ask if he was hitting everything ok and even gave him a ride home and ask after the tournament did he hit everything he wanted in tournament and he said" the tvs are fine ed, your feng was the thing making me lag" hah! Good stuff brother.

Did anybody record any Tekken footage at all?

No, and it was so hot!!! I need to get a digital camera soon to start getting all these good matches at Gamefrog up on youtube.

Actually Phil does have some Tekken footage he’s trying to post up soon.

Ha!!! I need that and I know what that one is!!! LOL!!!

I destroyed all the footage of Feng and you yelling at me.

It’s really not a big deal, but if you feel you need to do this, then just let me in free at the next one.
