Have fun with your Fake D&D

Quick question: does this seem like a good backstory for a character?

[details=Spoiler]
Willheart Ironsmith was an energetic and amiable lad well liked by kin and townsfolk alike. Often at the center of a good laugh or game, Willheart grew up with strong morals and a keen sense of justice.

One day, some travelling adventurers were causing an uproar in the otherwise peaceful town. Not one to stand idly by, Willheart confronted them and demand they correct themselves at once. The adventurers, being both stronger and greater in number, gave Willheart a good thrashing, but left him with his life.

Willheart’s mother was fearful for her son’s safety. She knew that he would try to take them on again, given the chance, and could very well die for it. At once she took his belongings and sent him with to her brother, who served as a temple magistrate in a far land. Willheart protested, but his mother’s command would not be disobeyed.

The trip was uneventful, save for a minor run in with the local law here and there. Though initially skeptical, the sheer opulance of the temple struck a chord within Willheart, and he began to think that such a turn of fate might not be so bad. The temple magistrate, Philheart, greeted him warmly and began to lead him (sternly at times) on the path of righteousness[/details]

What class and build you are going for?

It’s a good start imo. What are his current motivations? How did his time at the temple help form them?

Does Willheart eat ass? These are questions any good dm would like to see answered in your background.

I love that no one has caught it yet.

Spoiler

The backstory too.

Spoiler

You should play him as the Fresh bard of the Temple

Wasn’t Pathfinder made in part by ex-3.5 writers?

Also, he’s a dwarven war cleric. Very tanky while having good heals too. Since he’s teamed with a warlock and a ranger, it has a kind of balance.

Please don’t feed into his stupidity.

Please die…

Also before I force you to commit seppuku what system are you playing? 5e?

Yeah, 5e. Went with the dwarf because i knew our murder hobo party was going get me in situations where i would need the extra CON

I think version 5? I could be wrong.

Yeah you guys are all probably playing 5e if you don’t even know. Fucking new booty.

I can’t really get into 5e, after how I saw they fucked over the rangers animal companion in shit it kinda threw me off. I find it funny that they seemingly did the pathfinder archetype route to try and discourage dipping but people still dip like crazy lol. From what I have seen everyone and their mother dip barbarian because it is so nasty.

lol, sounds like the noobs playing SF5 when you compare noobs playing D&D5

They’re working on that. Here’s their unofficial “revised ranger” write up: http://media.wizards.com/2016/dnd/downloads/UA_RevisedRanger.pdf
On the plus side, rangers are stronger and the animal companions scale better. On the downside, no more Pteranodon-riding halfling stupidity.

Yeah that is a huge improvement.

I am having the most fun ever in this D&D game. West Marches campaign.

One of our thieves is on a mission to steal from a mansion. This has erupted into at least two other missions. The local drug dealer is having guard problems. Also, the highborn Lady has just been revealed to be into narcotics.

Love it!
