Resurrection spells should be a deterrent, not an answer. Big cities are a problem, but I counter that with higher prices. Think New York and LA with their high costs of living. The party would have to spend a pretty signification amount to keep ressing people. Not to mention that pesky level loss. They’re also very high level spells and there’s usually not a lot of NPCs that are capable of casting them. Those that are would also have to be willing to do so. These are not console RPGs where the costs of things are fixed and quickly become trivial. The world changes and you have to change with it. Allowing players to treat death as something trivial usually means that they’re being rewarded far to much.
Should have stayed in his lane or made a switch hitter. With the house rules I have that is a very viable option given all the feat taxes I eliminated.
Well 5 brought back some more classic spell effects and went back to a more 3.5 like char building system. It’s less broken on first glance then 3.5, so it’s definetly worth a look.
My friends and me went on to Pathfinder lately though. I can only recommend that you guys take a look at it. A well done and more streamlined skill system, less broken builds (I got to play with power builders from uberchargers to freakin initiative monster Wizards in D&D3.5) and still a lot of freedom in how to actually craft your build. Take a look at http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG and check it out.
Man all this newer psionic stuff is pretty awesome. I never really cared to much for the psychic warrior powers that DSP made up because they made a LOT of overlapping powers that went against the spirit of psionics imo(since they are all supposed to scale with your manifester lvl).
But this new 3rd level power is the best thing I have seen in a while. It’s not quite as op as any summon or astral construct but it is super versatile. They need to bring back the old version of persitant power so I don’t have to mix pathfinder with dnd.
The aegis and Soulknive stuff is also baller as fuck.
We have a group that plays once a week for about 3 hrs and I feel like I’m the only one paying attention to detail. Everyone else is on their phones or talking about dumb shut.
We’re in a similar position. Weekly 3-5-hour sessions for the last 18 months, with me, my girlfriend, the DM, his girlfriend, and another ladyfriend of ours. Our DM complains a bit that he’s “constantly dropping hints” on the story, that are going straight over our heads. He’s used to playing with more experienced players than us, so it’s weird for him.
Meanwhile we’re sorta casual and inexperienced. It’s all good fun though, there have been some truly lol-worthy moments, like the point where we didn’t loot the big final boss of an island because the only one who actually thought of shit like that (me) got knocked out, and the rest panicked and ran into the closest forest. This was also after my character (the only evil character in an otherwise good party) persuaded the party into assassinating said final boss in the middle of the street, in broad daylight, because my character considered selling out the party to the final boss but decided the boss was a cunt and wanted him dead.
This is one of the many reasons I cant stand these online nerds.
So the rest of that archetype references the chosen weapon which is course the weapon they chose at 1st level. These fucks need it to be an actual class feature called Chosen Weapon in order for it to register in their heads what it is. Like all of a sudden english is confusing to them. But they will then argue that they can use a ranged weapon as a chosen weapon since that class feature doesn’t exist.
