Man monks seem mad weak before lvl 30 in pvp. I’ve been beat by people 6 lvls lower than me.

Levels don’t mean a lot in this game it seems. Everyone even the lower levels seem to get a huge damage boost. Watching a level 20 spitfire take half your hp in one combo is disheartening.
But monks got some nasty hit stun on their combos. I’m worried of getting hit by one punch. Wait till priest patch, you only become more beastly.
Monks of any level have the issue that they don’t get much super armor. Ducking dash is your best pal before 30, you can use the Y axis better than a lot of classes so keep moving. Ducking Bodyblow is my #1 PvP attack. And for the most part you should win any fight you land a hit in if your opponent doesn’t have hit recovery gear.
As for the level thing, the mechanics of how they boost/tank you in PvP makes level nearly meaningless. It’s all about skill, technique, and experience.
Ended up making a fighter, try to spec mostly in Grapple and see if that works well enough. I’m sure it’s complete shit for PvP or something.
Grappler is pretty good in pvp actually. Rather straightforward class but if you can rush in there people get f-ed up very quickly. You get super armor on your throws and beat the crap out of anyone abusing super armor (exorcist).
Ugh I must have beaten first spine like 10 times on king and I still don’t have the tentacle from the boss. Anyone else having a hard time getting this item?
Nice, did not know this thanks. Guess I will go with a Grappler then before I make a more complex character later on when I know more.
So DFO decided to make some more stupid, funny lag. This time…

That’s hilarious, especially how he actually rammed you after you grabbed him. It’s even worse in dragonoid if your a fighter and have to kill either the boss stuck in his electricity or a small super armor dragon mid-charge. Sort of wished I recorded it.:xeye:
Though at least it wasn’t a pvp match. I hate losing to time-outs to that shit seriously.
speaking of time overs, i almost ran the whole clock in one match
basic witch strat was magic missile to broomstick float or IAD
rinse and repeat with an occasional black manteau. amazingly, it won me a match

lolz
I would’ve laughed my ass off if Shauta had killed you at the end
^Lol, YJDK … Srsly, you think you have it bad as a Monk try being a Crusader. This quote pretty much describes a Crusader pre-Priest patch:
The Life of a Crusader
[details=Spoiler]In my opinion, crusader’s got a bit of dilemma.
I’ve played kDnF for few years, and I know there are mainly 3 types of crusaders (buff, battle, dual).
First one (buff) invests most of sp in buff skills, with miniscule amount of sp spent on battle skills.
pros: people like you. want you. LOVE you. Everybody wants to party w/ you.
cons: you don’t get into much of combat. You constantly have to check if the buff is running out or not. AND…It gets boring. It will drive you to half-sleep after few hrs of play. Oh, I forgot to mention that some people will nag at you all the time if you are not giving buffs on time
conclusion: Easy to level up, people love you. Still boring.
Second, battle crusader might be able to solo dungeons, but it will prevent you from investing sps to buffs and heals.
Pros: Now you’ll be able to solo dungeons. Plus, you get to really have fun with controlling the character.
Cons: Some people will kick you out after the first run, simply because you don’t have buffs. In other words, you’ll not be much of a help in a party.
You’ll need tons of gold. TONS. If not, you’ll be extremely slow and miserable in higher stages.
Conclusion: You are not a buff pet anymore, you are actually fighting and having fun.
Sad thing is that, unless you got crazy gears, people will see you as filthy, worthless creature.
Dual crusaders are kinda new to the scene, and they invest sp on the most effective and important skills. Since I never had played a crusader myself, I can’t give you more detailed info. on this one.
Hope this helped a bit.[/details]
Basically, if you’re gonna be a Crusader in DFO you got two choices: spend your sp on buffs and play babysitter for parties or spend your points on utility skills and be worthless, lol. The only way to have a build that can MAYBE compete in battle or in pvp is if you happen to be rich and are able to acquire an awesome weapon and a set of equally awesome gear. And when I mean awesome gear I mean AWESOME GEAR, because when you roll with plate armor unless you’ve dropped A LOT of cash on a really good set your basically just a huge punching bag. Oh man, don’t get me started on plate armor … it’s kinda like a cruel joke. Sure it gives you god-like defense but it hampers your atk spd and mobility sooo much. If your wearing a full set of plate and your using anything with less than “Fast” atk spd then your going to have a great deal of trouble taking even the smallest of mobs. Nearing Lvl30 and all I got in terms of battle skills are “Blades of Pure White” + cancel. I’m sitting on 400+ sp (which is ridiculous) because i’m too reluctant to spend anything on buffs, can somebody pls confirm if the priest patch resets your sp? Also, if the patch does release and it DOES reset, will everybody get a reset or only the priests? I ask cause, atm I wouldn’t mind trying out a build focused on buffs only if I get another chance to reallocate my sp again for the new skills the patch adds (Spear of Victory, Judgement of Justice, and Hammer of Contrition seem to be some of the new ones for the Crusader.)
Btw, not saying the Crusader is COMPLETELY worthless, he CAN fight I guess but please don’t complain about being a Monk and not having any battle skills. Heck I personally love playing classes focused on party support but next time you have a Crusader in your party and you’ve almost cleared a room, do him a favor and leave him the scraps, lol, let him get his licks in before you go advance to the next room and proceed to slam/combo/beat the shyt outta everything.
Oh here’s a great guide for Crusader builds. It’s post-Priest Patch but I still think it does a great job describing each skill and which you should spend the core of your sp.

SCRUB DA GROUND
ROUND N ROUND WE GO
Thanks dude. I haven’t logged on it today but ill check tomorrow. I’m actually level 17 now and halfway to level 18. Fatigue bar was hella low so ill be on the grind tomorrow most likely. Also I actually gave the pot away already, sorry about that.
I’d like to also ask, is Berserker >> Asura? After much research into this i think ill go berserk, since berserkers are almost godlike at lvl 35+.
Is it just me or do other people hear different things when the Priest talks?
Heal: Ba-gel
Smasher: Swagga!
Does anyone else think he sounds like Charlie from SF Alpha?
Yea I hear weird stuff from them since my brother is an exorcist. Though I think he actually has a deeper voice than charlie.
Though I hope once my brother gets the weapon throw the exorcist would say SOOONNIICCC HURRRIICAAANEEE!!! (I know it’s Guile but still).
edit: @k4mo I just made an asura and they are decent. Only level 21 but the only hard part is that I don’t have anything that hits real hard at this level. I love the ice wave though and I somehow make people mad salty if I keep poking them with neutral wave (though honestly I get the same response on my nen master from asshats like mechanics no less, for running and poking them).
I honestly have fought 2 berserkers greater than level 35 on my nen and they do shit loads of damage if they hit you with frenzy up. Gore cross has a nice hit box and that delayed blood pillar explosion does a lot of damage and works in combos and as an anti-rushdown technique (Seriously even though you uppercut them in the sky if they start it up it still is coming out even if they are not in the circle anymore, which I learned the hard way).
The main thing I’ve always wanted to know is wtf a mage says during Phase Shift. Always sounds like “methamphetamine!”.
Add me up, I’m just learning the game - Lv 8 Gunner.
