Dumb thing I asked as a dumb kid

What about Subway? Got something against sammiches too?

The salads at Wendy’s are healthier than the hot subs at subway. Just saying.

Theyre only good for the chicken bacon ranch w/o the ranch and the meatball sub with olives peppers and cheese!

Its never going to get healthier than making it yourself. Unless you have a vegan friend whos into that kinda weird shit. Vegans are idiots btw.

drop some in boiling water, chop up some veg, add some potato and a bit of meat on the bone, you got yourself a stew

You gotta admit thats pretty fucking gross tho. Considering pigs walk around in their own shit. Not even that tho, pigs feet are like…10% meat. Lol. if that. Most of that stuff is literally fatty tissue and im not even exaggerating. Traditionally you add vinegar to the water to cut some of the fat in the pigs feet. The stuff white people didnt want to eat and the slaves had a field day with.

I’m all for keeping tradition alive tho. I wont be eating anything that has direct contact with shit tho.

Still chitterlings and uterus have to be Z tier.

I wasn’t talkin bout you bro. I meant the nation at large. Course we down on some fine cuisine

Sometimes a guy want to eat something warm and tasty when he’s out, but doesn’t want to plop down more than a fiver or tenner on a meal, this is where fast food comes in.

Yes we could wait until we go home to eat, or we could plop down more and have something better, but sometimes it’s just not convenient or even possible to go home and cook something and you can’t really justify the extra cash it would cost to go somewhere nicer.

I’ll tell you why it seems condescending, it’s because when you say “are people uninformed or do they just not care?” that screams out that you think these people are lower than you (aka being “self-righteous”). Both being unformed and not caring are negative interpretations.

And seriously, the question that comes to mind reading your post, it makes me wonder what you eat that you think is so much better? If you are educated on food then you should know having too much of ANYTHING is unhealthy due to w/e toxins involved in that type of food adding up, even if you are a strict vegetarian. Having a balanced healthy meal is extremely hard in much of the world, and considering your profile says you are from USA, I highly doubt your diet is as good as you think, because it’s extremely hard in America and you are likely eating more similar to what you get out of fast food than you think.

To answer your question, it’s pretty common for people to be able to freely eat whatever they want when they are young, since you don’t typically have to worry about health problems when you are young no matter what you eat. You can live off candy and ice cream and be fine lol. And most people don’t have rich enough families to be able to afford eating truly healthy balanced meals, nor do they have the time it takes to prepare 3+ full healthy meals a day.

After being young, there becomes a point in many peoples life where they decide they need to start paying attention to their diet for health reasons. At this point you have to realize, everyone is different. Everyone has different metabolisms, everyone has different tastes, everyone has different genes and potential problems running in their family. Your exact diet I can almost guarantee will not work for most people, and likely not work for me.

Heres my deal - When we’re talking genes, the main problems that run in my family are heartburn problems & colon problems (pretty common for italian families, and I’m half italian). So I have to base around that in my meals.

When I decided to start eating more health conscious, the heartburn problems are fairly easy. That can be controlled by limiting acidic foods. But to make sure your colon is healthy is a bit harder to do. So I need to put fiber as a priority for obvious reasons. That can be done with cereals, “stereotypical healthy foods” meaning veggies/fruit/etc, lighter meats such as fish or chicken, wheat pastas, high fiber breads, etc. Drinking water mainly, no more sodas or sugary drinks, etc.

But that brings me to the second problem I have to adjust for due to my genes: I’ve always had a very fast metabolism. I can eat complete crap all day every day and barely gain weight. Always been skinny my whole life. Hell, I’ve had times in my life where I was always out partying with friends and pretty much lived off of eating out (including fast food, pizza, chinese, etc) for months at a time and still not gained weight while all my friends who ate the same exact thing (or less) gained weight. I’m 30 years old and still skinny as hell.

So guess what happened when I started eating healthy? I actually started LOSING weight! That’s the LAST thing I need. For most people lower calories is good… but NOT for me! So this makes a much tougher problem. You know how hard it is to eat all healthy foods, no sugary drinks, and make sure you clear at least 2500+ calories and 25+ grams of fiber every day? Have some cereal that’s decent in fiber and fruit for breakfast? 200-250 calories. Have a sandwich and something small on the side for lunch? 500 calories if your lucky. Have a big ass plate of whole wheat pasta with chicken and some veggies on the side? Maybe 750 or so. Grats, 3 meals of healthy foods and your at 1500 calories.

I HAVE to somewhat indulge to be able to have enough calories to maintain a healthy weight. Hell, if I took that same diet, had 2 bowls of cereal instead of 1, had something like a turkey sandwich with bacon and a side of chips, and threw 4-5 meatballs with dinner, had an extra snack of something high in calories like cookies, and then threw in a dessert, I would STILL barely make enough calories.

So why do I eat fast food sometimes? For the same reason I eat out in general. It’s the only way I’m able to make a decent amount of calories without having to spend all day stuffing my face. Pretty much anywhere you go out to eat it’s an easy 1000 calories for a quick meal that you don’t have to stuff your face for, and if you add a dessert an extra 500 calories. You know how much that helps? It would honestly make my life EASIER if I didnt have to eat fast food to make calories, but you gotta work with what you have.

My current diet consists of 1 “healthy” meal (make sure i get some veggies/vitamins/etc, and at least 5 or so grams of fiber), 1 meal of “whatever the hell I want that is high in calories to make sure I can have enough calories no matter how healthy it is”, and as long as I make sure I have some cereal during the day that covers another 10 grams of fiber, and usually another small meal or snacks during the day of something that’s not too bad for you. As long as I do that I get enough calories while getting enough fiber. And as I do this, if I take the time to look at the overall nutrition (fat content, cholesterol, etc) it ends up being fairly healthy - even if I go out and eat mcdonalds because yeah it’s fatty and unhealthy but I’m still well under the threshhold of what you can allow yourself to eat daily - the only thing I’ve found that really messes up the nutrition is having eggs so I avoid eggs except on rare occasions since so high in cholesterol. But you know what? Even doing all that, I still find myself needing to drink sugary drinks or something like soda or sugary snacks to be able to make calories by the end of the day. That’s the main vice of my diet right now - too much sugars. But that’s my only choice atm without either not having enough fiber or losing weight to a more unhealthy level.

TBH, the nutrition of fast food is the least of your worries as long as long as you are somewhat conscious about the limits you should have. Whether I throw some meatballs in the meal to make calories or I decide to have a double cheeseburger from mcdonalds, it doesnt really make a difference since the primary issue is trans fats which you get in both. Just gotta make sure you limit it. The bigger worry is making sure you go to a place that is going to prepare it correctly. That should be your main concern, and in this sense fast food is no different from anywhere else. Make sure theres not a bunch of assholes behind the counter, and if they are always messing things up or serving you cold food thats a sign of problems.

This came out longer than expected, just wrote a damn book on nutrition lol.

Yeh to westerners

I’m African born, wasn’t till just over 10 years ago when I got to go back home I discovered how enjoyable local cuisine could be. There was some stuff I absolutely hated like goat heart, but one thing I love is grilled insects. Fry them up with some onions, light salt and pepper. Yummy

Fun factoid:

Chicken processing plants (where they grind up WHOLE chickens and reform them into patties) have to pluck the feathers off.
The ONLY reason they do this is because, if they leave the feathers on, people can taste that something’s a little off…

Oh, and they’re STILL working on the process to just straight-up grind 100% chicken, feathers and all.

This factoid brought to you by my dad, who helps design chicken processing plants.
Have fun eating!

Man, these days you can’t fucking anything without some advocate group or holier-than-thou asshole coming to lecture you on how something’s bad. “Don’t eat meat, the animals aren’t treated well” “Don’t eat vegetables, they’re being farmed by people who are getting paid 2 cents a day and then their products are sold for 300% the profit at a local super market” “Don’t eat fast food, it’s full of semen and shit and it’s generally bad for you” “Don’t eat cereal/white bread/brown pasta/any wheat product, it’s full of carbs” Goddamn, if I could sent a telepathtic message to all of these kinds of people’s heads, it would be loudly and proudly: I DON’T CARE. It’s like fuck, why don’t we just start eating some spaceage vitamin pills or soylent green or whatever for food that’s 100% natural, that way everyone should be happy. In fact that would save time preparing supper/going to a restaurant and eating that’s better spent at doing work/leisure, just gulp your daily pacman power pill and you’re set. Shit would solve obesity too because it wouldn’t taste much like anything, and I for one eat all kinds of shit because they just taste so damn good. Dat grease, fat and butter, man, dat grease, fat and butter.

One thing about the meat industry and it’s opposition I want to ask is this: The animals are being bred and raised just to be killed and eaten, what goddamn differance does it make how they are treated? Sure, I’m very much an animal person and up for the ethical well treatment of animals and it’s awful how they are being crammed into small cages and shit with open, blistering wounds without treatment, no trolling, but still, what does it matter when their expiration date and beyond is set in stone? I’d like to call these animals more tools than than living organisms, they’re used to a purpose and when they’re used up, they’re thrown away and you get new ones to replace them, rinse and repeat. And hundreds of years of industrialization of the farm industry is going to guarantee that these tools will keep coming.

Let me just end this tanget with saying that I’m fat, and I’ve never been thin or “normal weight” I blame the modern society that introduced me to fatty foods like hamburgers and shit at a very young age with advertising, plus my parents for not beating me hard enough to resist that stuff and eat healthy. I was a VERY picky eater as a kid, but not that I’m barely grown up, I try eat a little better and less of everything, and while I have lost some weight, I’m still very much made from blubber. But fast food? Hell no man, I don’t any of that shit any more, that’s just nasty. Now you could say that a little excersice would help, and you’d be right, but that’s a whole different story. The point is that people are stupid and with being constantly exposed to shit in their daily lives, they don’t know better really any better outside from these lecturing advocates.

White girls got ass now…McDonalds. </Drake>

I’ll stop eating fast food the day they make a vegetable that tastes like an In n Out double double.

Have you guys heard about meat glue?

This is the same fucktard who believes that man-made artifacts such as video games do not stem from natural human needs for competition, then, oblivious to the irony of it, his beta ass tried and failed to argue with BEWD, goody, myself, and others about the point, and when he lost and got his ass totally and completely handed to him, switched up to attempted threats and e-thuggin’ i.e. unintentional comic gold.

Flammy’s mental aptitude is of a caliber with Taco Bell beef.

Actually, Taco Bell beef is better for you than reading anything he seizures out on his keyboard.

But the main difference between them, is that eating Taco Bell is, y’know, a personal choice, on your part.

Show of hands, of people who chose to have FlamingRetard in the thread?

Anyone?

Anyone?

Flammy is the quintessential example of personal choice gone wrong.

The person in question being his mother.

Bad call, lady - BAD call.

You’re not wasting your time man, GET MOTIVATED! God knows I have to.

Good question…

I generally skip breakfast entirely, there’s no time, I have some kind of white bread sandwich with peanut butter involved somehow then the easy part: Mom makes dinner. I live at home (I’m only 19). It’s nothing special but it’s never like… fried. Or full of salt or sugar. I admit that later at night depending on my mood I might either go for some ice cream or a fruit or both or neither. Or a cookie. Or 3. You get the idea. Something small.

This isn’t gonna go over well.

Aaaaaaand you just lost the right to criticize what anyone eats.

What. Does you mom. Cook for dinner?

Also, I wish my mom was still alive to cook me dinner. I cook mine by myself, but it’s still hard due to the schedule I keep and my wife and I often wimp out and go fast food. Well, not fast food, but Mexican style tacos and what not. I rarely do fast food. That’s become something I refer to as “recreational eating.” My idea of fast food is Boston Market.

As far as drinks go, I only have about two sodas a month now. I only drink water, coffee, beer, wine or liquor or tea in that order. Tea has become more popular with me as of late, but back in the day I’d guzzle green tea.

But yeah, you need to learn to cook cause once you go bye bye you’re gonna be shit outta luck. Especially if you end up on a fixed income or a really stringent budget. Shit gets real, man.

I am the undisputed KING of making something with nothing.

For anyone trying to seriously lose weight or maintain. THIS is your chief failing. Skipping breakfast is usually what makes people gorge on food be it for lunch, dinner, and the eventual Late night snack.

FUCK man. ICE CREAM late night snack?? That’s worst then grabbin’ a murder burger from McD.

You’re better off planing your breakfast if you don’t have the time. People that complain about not being able to work out or Eat correctly? Bullshit. Again, it’s willpower. It’s an investment in yourself. Do it. MAKE time for yourself. Stop staying up late.

Easy breakfast:
Buy tortillas. Shit’s cheap.

Tortillas. slice of cheese. 2 eggs (EVERYONE KNOWS HOW TO MAKE EGGS), cup of frozen peas and corn (Shit is CHEAP). throw some turkey slices or left over chicken from last night.

I do this on a gridle or whatever the hell it’s called. Less than ten minutes. Everyone can stomach peas n corn. throw in a touch a butter.

Boom easy ass breakfast.
