I did this by accident online but tested it out today with James Chen and Shirts and it seems like it might be a legit thing.
The trick is basically teleport into the corner, then dp. Simple right?
The ‘trick’ comes from a weird ‘bug’ in the original ST engine which is the concept that Nohoho explained as Near Corner and Far Corner. Here is the link where he breaks it down: http://curryallergy.blogspot.com/2008/04/super-turbo-trickery-near-corner-vs-far.html
If you are 1p Akuma and you teleport into the Left Corner or his Near Corner then you will NEVER cross the opponent up. If you are 1p Akuma and teleport into the Right Corner or his Far Corner then you will cross the opponent up so that Akuma himself is in the corner.
The ‘trick’ is that you have to do the DP command backwards which is easier said than done. So I tested 2 characters: Ryu and Dhalsim.
With Ryu in the corner it seems that he can just hold Away and the game will ‘auto block’ the DP even though Ryu faces the wrong direction. Tried the same thing with Dhalsim and Dhalsim got hit. Dhalsim had to switch up his block.
I haven’t really explored it much beyond that - we tried some dumb raging demon setups but it’s a weird command and we ended up going the wrong direction like 90% of the time.
It’s not game breaking or anything, just something else to add to the list of annoying things that he has.
