Dudley's Overview and Analysis of his Moveset and its Attributes

Can someone help me make an OS off of a cr.lk to catch backdashes? I’m having problems.

I just started playing Dudley seriously a few days ago, and I’m having a lot of fun with him (much more than I did with Guy), but to be honest? I don’t think it’s too far off other than I would have assumed B tier. Once he gets in close and gets that first hit off, he can do a lot of damage and has many good things going on, but he’s got some major problems against turtles or characters that are good at zoning that also have dominating footsies (looking at you Chun Li). His wakeup reversal is also really awful outside of the EX version and his “easy to combo” Corkscrew seems to be near the lower end of the damage spectrum like most of the newer and easy to use Ultras, while Rolling Thunder is situationally stellar, but mediocre more often than not. I mentioned this elsewhere, but with the exception of Deejay and Vega (this is certainly due to their inability to actually use Ultras in a combo), notice any correlation of who sits in B+ tier or higher and the SF4 engine?

Cannot wait for Kokujin to come play Dudley (hopefully, please God), and then BAM!, instant god tier in all tier lists. You’ll see.

That’ll only happen if J plays Makoto

yawn so, i just added Dudley’s Normals and Target combos into frame data charts.

It’s a little ghetto, but now if you want to look at frame data, you don’t have to go offsite. I’m going to have to work on the Specials frame data a little more, because all the active frames from MGB make the formatting wonky.

Comments appreciated.

c.lk, c.mk os with c.lk, s.mk target combo? timing is exactly the same. just hold d for the whole target combo. it’ll do the target combo if c.lk connects, c.mk sweep if c.lk whiffs.

So its probably already known but i didnt see it in this post t so i wasn’t sure. It is known that the first hit doesnt armor break right? I dont really use dudley but i played against one and i actually focus absorbed 1 hit from Rolling Thunder and interrupted it clean. I took it to training mode Figured it would be useful for some people to know who are trying to learn dudley.

None of the hits armor break. Even says in the movelist. Still worth letting people know the risk though so good vid.

Is it possible to do that on reaction to dudley’s ultra?

Gotchya i missed that thanks.

Toyed around with it some more. Yes you indeed can do it on reaction, although you may eat a 2nd hit if you dont time it right but it will still interrupt the ultra. However if you hold focus too long it’ll just finish the ultra

EDIT: Also it depends on the character you’re using. For example i had an easier time getting it to work with Juri than with Ryu.

I haven’t tested this, but I will later I guess. But first wouldn’t cr.jab work better cause you can chain it if they don’t backdash. And also using regular sweep? Unless regular sweep is too slow. But in genera wouldn’t
cr.jab, sweep, cr.jab (done at correct rythym just work better overall, if they back dash the jab and you time it correctly you should be able to sweep them, I forget right now if cr.short is chainable to jab, but iif it is I suppose you can still do cr.short as well.

Plus if the sweep hits you can confirm free combo off it.

The rh sweep isn’t that great for backdash because you only get the small popup, which doesn’t let you combo. Didn’t GGM already mention the c.lk, s.mk ~ s.hp OS?

I actually just read that. To bad it doesn’t hit meaty enough for a combo, but still good. I wonder if there is anyway to do a OS with Ducking into lk follow up then you could at least attempt to do fadc combo afterwards or super.

i dunno if it this was posted… ducking goes under low tiger shots.

it’s actually projectile inv. It’ll go through juri low fireball too.

And through psycho crusher, hurricane kick and a few other things.

but it isn’t invulnerable to air-kunai

Because it’s not a projectile, it’s a physical attack, having a red hitbox, not a green hitbox projectiles have.

don’t make me go merriam-webster on your ass.

i was simply pointing out that Ducking through ibuki’s air-kunai does not work.
i never said it was a ssf4-defined projectile either.

Ducking isn’t only projectile immune.
don’t be so quick to troll. i was just adding info.

whoa!!! now i know… and knowing is half the battle!
