Any tips on beating Blanka with Dudley I have not had much success he seems untouchable with a good player I am not unskilled with Dudley, is this possible or better to go with another character although I would really like to be as dominate as possible with Dudley.
You can punish ALL HIS BALLS his MGU, but be sure it’s not a reversal, because that way it doesn’t hit fully.Just go in training and record blanka doing blanka balls, and see the timing required for full hits.I think rolling thunder also punishes his balls.
Also, very important, Fierce beats blanka balls clean, and has 6 active frames, alot, so bassicaly you can make him run into it.
You fierce will trade his his crouching fierce, in your advantage.
Blanka should not be able to touch you. Blocked balls = any Machine Gun Blow. Learn the timing for EX MGB full hits and launch > ducking straight > Ultra 2 to punish any ball for 480 dmg.
Focus absorb all of his slow long range pokes on reaction. cr.Fierce, cr.RH and the Slide.
Cross Counter his cross up rainbow balls.
st.Fierce keeps him out all day. Anti air his jump ins with cr.Fierce or st.MK.
cr.lp, cr.mp, cr.hp target combo is a good wakeup option against his electricity.
Ultra 1 can be cross countered.
j.HK beats his electricity if spaces correctly.
I feel that Rolling Thunder should be used in this fight. Any blocked ball = free ultra. You just need to time it like the MGB, slightly after Reversal timing. If done correctly, the first hit of Rolling Thunder will whiff, Blanka lands, then the rest of it connects, leading to full ultra.
Corkscrew Cross can also be used if you can react to balls and jumps well. Just make the Blanka player run into U2 =)
480 damage? I doubt it, seeing as ducking straight > U2 doesnt link even half the hits from the ultra. Im not saying it doesn’t do 480 damage, as I’ve never tested it for damage, but I cant see it doing 480 damage, no way.
The best thing to do is be patient- sooner or later the Blanka will get annoyed with eating MGBs on punished blanka balls, so will do his rainbow balls, and like Logan says, best thing to do is cross counter them, however, be warned, the blanka will eventually become wise to this and just have the rainbow ball land at your feet and follow up your CC with a nice little grab into the blanka mind games.
Remember- once you score a knockdown, press the advantage with your overhead/crouching lk xx cr.mk target combo into JU(s) or whatever. He isn’t super tricky, but he isn’t easy either. It’s a true 5-5.
After using the info on this thread I’m doing much better against blanka players. Too bad that the balls are punishable on block(for blanka i mean). heck, blanka ball is probably punishable on hit as well ( i know it is with dhalsim for sure).
If the blanka never saw the matchup and is throwing out the blanka balls, after being punished by MGB, he’s gonna start looking to something else. What has been working for me is closing the distance with various ducking, and then just slowly zoning him with s hp and AA. when he gets crazy with his specials, punish accordingly.
Focus absorb->forward dash->comboing the rainbow balls seems to work better for me. You’re not so open to land and sweep/land and throw, and it does more damage anyway.
I’ve done a little testing on rolling thunder vs blanka balls and it feels like there’re two timings to successfully pull it off. One is on reversal, and the other is slightly after reversal but not immediately after, if you get what I mean. If you pull it off in the window between those two timings, Blanka will land and be able to block in the space between the first hook and the second.
Being that this is a thread specifically for Blanka, how exactly do you pressure those creatures that call themselfs human being that mash electricity? I mean dudley’s low attacks suck.They move you into electriciy, and you can’t walk back, because you’ll be in block animation, and while you backdash, he recovers and sweep.Im even scared to punish his blanka balls with machine gun blow, because he’ll just spam electricity and beat everything i do, AGAIN and again.Maybe i punish it with cr.mk.So what? it’s 70 damage, electricity is more than that, scurbs don’t give no shit.I literally just stay there 2 characters away starting while crouching blocking at him, scared to press anything.Then, random gimmick and he wins.
Sweep spam and electricity, they got me beaten.Remember, this about about thw rost scrub’s mentality, so things like they wouln’t throw move X after you punished it doesn’t apply.They’ll still throw everything, even if punished.
Yeah that’s what frustrates me.He jumps with his hk, i heard you can beat it with st.mk, but no luck, and then when up close, boom electricity spam.Why not, it’s +10 on block.
