You might want to try mixing up your block strings (check the thread on block strings) and not ending them with ducking each time. If you end a few with LP MGB instead. The next time you end your string with a duck they might not be expecting it and react incorrectly.

The other way to look at it is that you have conditioned your friend to grab after ducking, so that means you are free to mix him up with a few things for free as long as they are throw invulnerable. SSB is an option. Neutral jump RH is also an option. If you have U2 stocked, then I would just LP Jet upper into U2. With no U2, then I’d do LP JU into LP MGB or HP JU.

For Ken, if you are looking to catch a buffered RH and they are hitting you with sweeps, try positioning yourself optimally to counter hit, and focus or jump in instead. If they are looking for your RH and go to sweep, you get in for free.


Honda’s even AE since he lost his 400 damage per combo and we can now punish his headbutts and NJ/HP and Jump in MP withotu fear.

Guile still beats Dudley in AE its just he wont have a full super from hitting you with c.MK and sonic booms the whole match.

Because his lk scissors push him out of range of your cr.lp, and also put him in the range he needs to be to AA you with st.hk if you decide to jump.

I’ve been playing dudley for a little while, and I feel I need to be able to convert damage more effectively. My previous main has no useful plinkable combos so I’ve never bothered learning. Is there a list of combos for duds that are plinkable? Is plinking especially helpful for dudley players?

Oh yes, very important to plink with Dudley. Any button you’re trying to plink is plinkable in a combo as long as it’s not a lp or lk. Just read up on how to plink and apply it to any combo you want.

Can anyone help me with finding counter-hit combos for Dudley? I cannot locate it in the forums. Maybe I’m an idiot. f.hp links with c.lp/s.lp, right? What other useful counter-hits does he have?

What can I use to substitute for his falling h.k, cl.hk, machine gun combo instead?

It only knocks down if the opponent is airborne.
Hitting someone grounded means it’ll hit like any other aerial.

Looking for some inspiration. I can do all the links now but I’m not the most creative, looking for some help with mixups (other than usual oh, cr lk, throw) and more tricks like f.mkx2 throw.

Air control, controlling s.Fierce range, punishes, resets, option selects, and adapting to crouch tech/grabs.

s.HK is your friend it will get you needed respect in match ups.

Make a habit of it
start off doing it early, then hen you get better, do it late for trades (no invincibility)

c.HP is best NORMAL for anti airs when you master it, 200 stun,

Jet upper or duck upper are best anti jumps period tho

Very hard to utilize duck upper as an anti air unless YOU KNOW you’re opponent is going to jump. Otherwise, it’s very hard despite the fact that it has upper-body invisibility. c.HP is bad against characters with deep box jump ins like Blanka, Zangief, Chun Li, etc. You’ll lose the battle with c.HP a lot of the times, st.MK is the way to go.

c.HP is very good against jump-ins like Ryu, Ken, you know… jumps in that don’t have vertical jump in attacks like Blanka for instant.

Duck Upper isnt hard, just react to them BEFORE THEY REACH MID AIR then its free. Its best for nuetral jumpers.

Like rog 's headbutt you shoul AA with jet upper everytime.

Alright, quick question about Dudley’s thunderbolt. I’m testing Boxer’s meaty jab O/S sweep, and I do ex.thunderbolt and it doesn’t get hit by the meaty, activates the O/S and hits him on the way down. I know the attack doesn’t have any invincibility in the air, and that the ex version tracks so i can’t cross up, but I was 100% positive it had no startup invincibility. Anyone have any information as to if the hitbox is just really weird on startup, or something like that?

100% agree.

Thunderbolt has 9 frames of invincibility on start-up. He also leaves the ground on frame 9 I believe. Think of a worse buttsplash.
