Dudley Q&A: Let's learn... like Gentlemen!

That’s what I was thinking. Because Dudley has all the tools he needs to get in. And he has really good normals. What option selects can be used against his high/low mix up? Speaking of OS. What are Dudley’s and how do you do them? I have no idea how to option select let alone how they work. I want to be a tournament level player so I really need to know these things.

He can’t be that bad. I’ve noticed that everyone in these character specific threads are always talking about how bad their character is vs trying to build up morale and talk positively about their character. Even the Akuma players do it. Why is that? Does no one have confidence in their character or their own abilities?

I’m just telling the truth. He’s bottom 10 but every character in the game is tournament viable (except Hakan lawl). He doesn’t have a solid way to get in unless it’s against people that don’t know how to zone properly with fireballs, or don’t know how to punish focus spam, or can’t anti air. His mixup game has high reward, but it can also be dealt with fairly easily, you have to guess just as much as your opponent does. He’d be a much stronger character if he had a strong ground game but he just doesn’t.

What? Or you could learn to vary up your timing and blockstrings to destroy them for that. Besides, if it’s a meaty they hit at the same time.

This is like saying “delayed throw tech breaks Rufus’s dive kick mixups.”

I’m not saying Dudley’s top tier or anything but his mixups are good and his biggest problems with them is catching backdashes but those can be blow up too.

That’s just it, dudley’s meaty mix up isnt good.
It’s damn easy to see if he’s doing a meaty over head and c.HK easily backdash/DP able.
He really only has meaty cshort. f.HP and frame traps with meaty f.MK (option select) outside of the corner.
its another story in AE tho, I’ll explain everything in the next AE video.

You dont even know.

And blowing up crouch teching is a whole other mix up.
why even bring that up.
come on now.

you dont even know

What is it that makes his ground game so bad? And if every character (except Hakan as most people say) is viable why is it that I see the same 10 or 12 characters in every tournament? Either every tournament player is a tier whore or the people playing the other 20 characters don’t make it out of pools. I’m just wondering though. Because I would love more than anything to see an EVO that has practically every character placing in top 32 with the tournament winner being a different character every year instead of the same set amount of characters.

I can’t wait to see it.

It takes more effort to win with a lower tier character than a higher tiered one. Justin has won tournaments with Makoto. Combofiend does well with Guy and Mak. My friend got 25th at Final Round with Cody (Underrated character lawl). Tatsu does good stuff with Vega. Hell, I’ve gotten Top 8 in Texas tournaments. Anyone can win except, Hakan. Maybe Thawk too.

is this your theme

Ah I see now. Well that makes enough sense. I find it more satisfying to win with a lower tier character. It’s funner and you get mad respect for it.

omg how’d u no

I’m ignorant when it comes to network stuff but I coulda sworn that the graphics had nothing to do with your connection? Isn’t it just syncing commands between the two players? Why would it have to send data of the level’s graphics if that data is already on both player’s discs?

I want to know, please tell me…please.

Quick question: can playing MK for a few hours in training mode completely fuck up your Dudley play; at least on the short term? 'Cause I managed to lose like 12 games in a row which is a first, even for me.

Also is it worth hoping that Dudley makes it into another Capcom fighting game a la Street Fighter X Tekken, or is that a pipe dream and I should just make the most of Super and AE (and 3SO when that comes out I guess)?

After a couple of hours playing mvc3 if I jump straight to ssf4 without going to training mode first I’m gonna try to pushblock stuff and dash with two buttons xD, I remember I did try to taunt with select too… but yeah, it will take me like 2~3 fights to get used to the game again, the timing in combos I never forget them…

Dudley could make it in sfxtekken sure, he is a street fighter character, but since it’s SF3 they might put the other ones that didn’t made into ssf4 and AE, not hyped for that game anyway…

I’m not really hyped for SFxT either.

TxSF is hype tho

I’ll reserve my hypeness once more details and footage are out.

Law and Fei are going to share the same character spot like Roger/Alex

not hyped about it unless Dudley is in the roster. If he isn’t, I’m not getting it; point blank.
