Dudley Q&A: Let's learn... like Gentlemen!

You need to do any combination of three inputs of down and forward to get a dp. You can do df df twice to get dp from full crouch, which is really amazing since you can full crouch AA Dp.

@funkQue another way to do st. HK xx SRK is the input as if you are doing SRK FADC. so when your neutral hitting st.HK, input forward, downfoward, foward then punch. Thats the input motion of srk with a foward in which is a shortcut to FADC so you just have to press foward + FA to get FA and dash cancel at the same time. Thats how I like it

Can we use this for AE questions yet?

Not classy, you bandwagon jumper.

Makoto get’s a Lvl 2 FA dash loop and all of a sudden everyone starts riding his dick.

wait…

i dabbled with cody mak seth and thawk since release.

AE main is Mak then Dud (still hasnt played AE yet)

LOL get more hype for Makoto why don’t you? She still can’t be 3s Makoto since Karakusa is still ass even if Capcom decided to give her the 3s kara move.

i dont think he knows how kara grabs work

Of course I do, the problem is that Karakusa’s regular range is garbage. Having to kara to make a command grab decent is dumb. The extra frames make it easier to mash jab out of.

disasterous crash!

I just started playing SSF4 for about a year now, even though Ive been a SF faithful since Challengers Edition. Anyhow, I main Dudley and would not think twice about playing any other character until I am satisfied with my Dudley game play. Well here is the disastrous crash I am talking about. I went from **2700pp/6700bp **to 980pp/2500bp in about one week. I’ve lost to scrubbish players of all kinds and have not been able to pull off BnB’s. I spent countless hrs in training wondering what the hell happen??? has this happened to anyone? Has anyone bounced back from a horrible rut? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just keep playing and it will even out. If your timing is messed up it will come back and if it’s against scrubs you will learn anti-scrub tactics.

I often have these bp/pp swings as well, but hey, no bother losing temper over it. It can be frustrating but just keep telling yourself that BP/PP is useless distraction and it’s better to rather lose all of your BP and learn something than earn million and remain a scrub. It should always be about getting better rather than earning points. Get better and the points will follow

If you are having a serious losing streak you could consider taking a break for few days. I found that most times I was on a losing streak it was because my game was getting too autopilot like(same dumb habits, improper punishes etc.) , a small break helps break the dumb habits and you can “rebuild” your game plan better as ever.

You should go to training mode before games regularly to “warm up” and keep in mind that more you train those combos the less thinking you need to pull them off and the more you can concentrate on the actual match going on.

Also constantly analyze your gameplay, why did you lose that last round? Where did the opponent land his combos? where you could’ve done more damage? did you punish everything punishable? were you too aggressive or defensive? are you avoiding some combos or options because you are unsure you can pull that combo off?

Keep asking these questions and you should find the flaws in your game.

kara-karakusa is actually good for makoto because she has very fast dash and you gotta make your opponent block when this happens… when your opponent likes to mash backdash, you’re actually a an advantage as well at some point because you can OS backdash…which will then train your opponent to block, then you can go for your kara-karakusa mixups. With Makoto, you gotta train your opponent… just like Abel.

i will, i just added you to my friends list on PSN, you might run into a Ken or Sagat, that’ll be my bro. but i’ll be on dudley so i look forward to some decent sparring. thanks for advice!

Just go with the 3s tactics where backdash didn’t have 8frames of invincibility. Jump or pray for shoryu to connect.

yes! i have ignored the point system and ive noticed that ive actually gone up without even thinking about it. i do spend at least an hr in training before matches, and it does help alot. i forgot to ask, does the arcade fighting stick really helps out in terms of executing combos? i just ordered a Mad Catz TE cuz i read that it does help but i haven tried it since its been more than 1-2 business days late! anyhow i digress, so does it work better?

Better than what? A controller? It’s easier to plink at least. I played a little bit in Japan and got so used to the Japanese style arcade layout that getting the TE was great. It’s all about how the stick and buttons feel to you compared to the other alternatives.

i agree its about how it feels rather than it having some sort of special advantage. i always played in the arcade until SFII came out in super nintendo ha! what 20yrs ago? anyhow, i really appreciate all the help. i aim to improve my dudley and hopefully the Mad Catz arrived! thanks again fellas

1st i’d like to say your tutorial vid has help a shit load! so thank you for that. 2nd and this one is quite embarrassing, i dunno the lingo too much and ive heard about kara throws over and over, what exactly is it? and how can i use it to my advantage?
