I feel ya, have been practicing the same combo the whole day.It does come out but not as consistently, guess practice is the only way.(:
You have to be fairly close to do it. When are you doing it? If it’s for punishing something then there are usually better options. Also learn how to do crouch short xx crouch jab xx standing roundhouse xx whatever you want since it’s like the combo you’re doing, it hits low helping your mix up, and you can meaty with it slightly better than crouch jab.
Noodleman-id like to play your dudley sometime and learn some stuff from you. Saw your match on cc and thought your dud was pretty solid regardless of marns funny bp comments.

Guys what’s the best move for an Air to Air attack? Or is it better to just avoid Air to Air and got for Dud’s Anti-Air move?
Also, this is pretty off topic, and very noobish, but what does it mean to ‘whiff’ a move?
j.fierce, neutral j.strong are both good air to airs.

Yeah straight up, not forward or back. Whiffing a move just means missing it. You can whiff a move intentionally to build meter or whiff a move by mistake by spacing it incorrectly.
I love using j.MK for air to air. Actually, I love this move for everything. It seems to do everything <3

And regarding whiffing, does that theoretically mean you could stand on the other side of the screen and whiff for ages (Say if the opponent wasn’t approaching you) just to build meter? Or isit better to do it in only some circumstances?
You can whiff special moves to build meter. (ex-shoryukens, raidas from ibuki, hadoukens, and basically any special move)
normals and command normals (overhead, kidney blow, etc) will not build meter.
attacking, defending, and taking dmg build your super meter.
obviously dmg builds ultra. lol.

How do you beat crouch teching?
It’s really frustrating sometimes cause I get in, he blocks all my strings, if I try to overhead he just jabs and combos me out of it.
If you realize they are crouch teching a lot, delay your inputs a small fraction of time to catch them with a counter hit. You have to determine if they are late teching or just mashing it out. This is really hard to do but it’s really one of the best high level skills and opens Dudley up for huge damage possibilities.
Both serve different purposes depending on what distance you’re at. Dudley’s fierce also beats several characters low attacks. Those plus f mp and cr mk are the go to’s.
Guys off topic again, but is there a thread on SRK explaining some terms? Like teching, really don’t know what that is…
Teching is breaking a throw so that you take no damage by doing :lk:+:lp:. Crouch teching is just what it says, teching while crouching. Only if they don’t throw you a cr.lk comes out instead of a throw so it’s safer and you can combo off of it if they get hit.
f.hp is riskier than s.hp because if it whiffs or gets focused you will get punished. However, f.hp is great on hit or block so it has uses. f.hp is also slower. Basically s.hp should be considered your best poke for footsies but f.hp is a good move to fish with.
To beat crouch tech do strings like cr.lp -> f.mk (combo on hit), cr.lp -> s.hp, cr.lp -> s.hk xx lk ducking (combo on counter-hit for s.hk), EX Jet Upper FADC (inefficient use of meter), etcetera.
Cr mk is crummy because its unsafe on block. Marn never uses it…so I don’t use it.

cr.mk is safe on block dependent on spacing. It’s only -6. Saying it’s unsafe on block is like saying Balrog’s cr.hk is unsafe on block. It’s not going to be punishable in footsies unless you do it on Chun with super or something. You’re trying to whiff punish. That’s what it’s good for. Landing a cr.mk on Ryu spacing with his own gets you a hard knockdown. The payoff is very nice since Dudley is all about getting that close range game anyway.
Marn does use it. And it’s not something you use when they’re within blocking range, it’s a counter poke to beat their lows/hitbox movers.
I read something on that move before that said it’s pretty bad. Guess i was misinformed.
I think dudleys best pokes are st hp and cr mp. Cr mp on CH gets you ex mgb. nice.
