any follow ups to counterhit c.MK against an aerial opponent? It looks like they are in juggle state but I don’t know what to do next.
Turn on the input data and see if the hk input is repeated. If you do it correctly (say you plink with mk) you should see:
:mk::hk:
:hk:
I’ve just decided to give Dudley a shot a few days ago and am having a very hard time with linking his f.MK into s.HK to begin rushdown…Any tips on the timing? f.MK was cancellable in SF3 but apparently isn’t anymore.
I have a whole listing of combinations i’m working on. Any particular ones you’d recommend as BNB/Beginner to help me get started?
Thanks
BNB is
s hk xx ex mgb > short ducking upper/cr hk/ ultra.
to set that up:
cr lp> s hk
cr lk > cr lp > s hk
f+hk>s hk
the one you mentioned was good. It’s not too difficult. If you want, try f.mk ~ cr.lp first and them you can move onto s.hk after you get a feel for the timing on cr.lp since it’s a little more lenient. The f.mk takes a lot more time to hit than s.hk so it’s a little more staggered than standard links. you have to just wait for the f.mk to come out which can feel like forever when you’re in their face.
f. MK recovers a lot faster than you’d think. Personally, I can link s. HK after it more frequently than cr. LP or st. LP.
yeah i meant, it comes out slow and recovers fast relative to other pokes.
most BnBs feel about the same rhythm linking normal to normal and you can press them with a similar cadence.
another good BnB is cr.lp x2 ~ s.hk xx whatever. Good fast hit confirm to start combos.
you can substitute cr.lk and f.hk for the first cr.lp for high low mixups.
those, i feel are the most basic and standard BnBs for Dudley.
[stuff], s. HK xx JU is pretty hard to buffer for me consistently. I can do the s. HK xx JU raw fine, but if I do hits before the s. HK I seem to mess up on the s. HK and get a f. HK or get not JU (screwed up on inputs on the cancel).
I know JU isn’t frequently used after a s. HK outside of punishing, even then EX MGB is used more than JU for a punish.
I’m curious on your guys opinion of it.
I apologize if this has been asked already. I can’t seem to hit ducking upper after an EX MGB for the life of me. Tips?
You’re doing the duck too late.
I actually had problems with missing Ducking Upper for a while, you actually have more time to land it than you think.
First obvious thing to note is you should use LK Duck, though it does work with MK (might be character specific) just stick with LK. Don’t rush, don’t try doing it as soon as Dudley finishes bitch slapping your opponent since double tapping or negative edge will end up making the Duck be too slow more often then not. Just relax and take your time.
As for f.MK, it does seem to have (roughly) the same timing to link after a c.LP. Hate how f.MK recovers deceptively fast and f.HK recovers deceptively slow
Huh, all this time I’ve been using HK duck haha. Thanks for the advice, off to the training room I go.
Not really a question, but rather a statement.
I took 5th at a Columbia Ranbat today. I’m kind of hype cause it’s only my second tournament. The guy who knocked me out was [get this] a Dudley player who took 3rd. Kombokaze is his name.
Okay… Question here since it hasn’t been answered in the matchup thread yet:
What is a good way of dealing with Abel’s U2? I get caught in it every single time.
Jump over him or if you can hit him early, do a target chain to stop it.
If he’s kinda close to you, jump or Thunderbolt over him. If he’s really far away, jump backwards. I don’t think breathless hits full screen. If you’re in the middle you can try to thunderbolt him. Otherwise you’re kinda screwed I think.
Do you think it would be easier to open with the overhead instead of f.mk?
overhead is for mixups and f.mk is better for pressure and punishment. If you can eventually hit both, they will both be beneficial in their own ways for each situation.
you can link s.rh from:
meaty/late f.fp
cr.lk
s.lp
cr.lp
s.mp
cr.mp
cr.fp
f.mk
f.rh
s.lk, s.mk target
other than counterhits, i believe this is the full list.
I think I’m gonna start with…
f + MK, cr.LP, s.HK xx EX MGB, MK Ducking Blow, cr.HK, Ultra <—Unsure if the end of this will work outside the corner
That seem like a good beginner? To make it easier I can always drop the f+MK or change it to a cr.LK or something.
I want to focus on executing the links as precisely as possible to get a base for rushdown. I’m still “thinking” alot rather then doing things from muscle memory. IE…I still suck.
