Dudley Changes in Arcade Release(updated1stpost)

It actually doesn’t hurt it very much. Not going to say it doesn’t hurt at all, but it just hurts it for DP combos. I land cr. LK, cr.LP, s.RH xx EX MGB, or LK Duck upper all the time at the arcade.

the link combo portion is still fine, it is just that canceled DP now whiffs. I still don’t know if this is now character specific or not, but the forward moving canceled specials feel no different to me after the last few weeks of playing there.

You don’t know how you would fight Balrog on wakeup? Really?

Weren’t they going to fix his hitbox in AE? I think I remember them saying they were going to fix hitboxes, maybe they fixed Balrog’s? Does anyone know?

c.lk, c.lp s.rh still works consistently. i’ve had s.rh whiff, but i wasn’t point blank when i landed c.lk.

i wonder if the extra push back from c.lk will cause rog wake up ex rush punch to need extra frames to hit you, giving you time to do c.lk s.mk target combo to now stuff the dash instead of trading with it.

ex duck makes you not need to guess as much vs elf. ex duck gets you out of all of elf’s run air moves. not sure about slide, but i doubt it.

I don’t think pushback works unless the move actually hits.

Yeah, sadly, no chance that ex duck saves you from Elf Slide. It is just upper body invulnerability. There are exactly zero Elf players in my scene, so I haven’t been able to test it against him. But, seeing it get me out of Ibuki’s vortex the other day gives me a lot of hope for it as a wakeup option.

If you’re quick with reactions you could beat the Elf mix-up by buffering duck motion while blocking and waiting for anything other than slide to come out to press 2K. Also, LOL at Eventhubs comments. That entire sight is imploding due to Evil Ryu and Oni being revealed.

You can be at point blank range on Balrog’s wake up after a techable knockdown, and land meaty cr.LK, cr.LP…st.HK will whiff. Happens regularly. It is his wake up animation. His sprite expands and pushes you out, before contracting again causing you to go out of range for the hit confirm into st.HK.

I swear I am going to start just doing cr.LK > st.HK on wake up and prey I can hit confirm that.

what the fuck are you talking about? with more push back on cr.lk you can’t make balrog guess more unless you’re going for throws, OH, and if the cr.lk doesn’t have much pushback then you can go for 50/50 on meterless rog. fighting rog on wakeup is the easiest thing TO do while fighting balrog… so idk how I wouldn’t know how to fight balrog on wakeup. If you probably understood what I wrote, you would have understood that ig cr.lk gives more pushback, then it’s hard to cr.lp xx st.hk for the combo. more push back means harder to land the combo is what I’m basically saying…

I normally just do c.lk, c.lp, c.mp confirm on balrog since the s.hk likes to be a bitch and whiff

or c.lk, s.mk tc hitconfirm into dp etc

There’s lots of stuff you can do off a c.lk, link it to c.lp to mp or do the tc to a jet upper or anything of that nature. Or hell, be bold and just go for the damn link to s.hk.

Edit: Humbag had the right idea.

oh, don’t mash ex duck on wake up (like actual mashing), ex duck upper will come out and you’ll whiff it right behind them, giving them a free punish.

Oh, does EX duck get through deep cross-ups? If it does I take back everything I said about it. It would be amazing.

Just popping in to say that I don’t think Oni Akuma or Evil Ryu will be particularly difficult match ups for Dudley. Obviously no one knew how to use them well at the arcade, but they don’t feel all that different from the normal Akuma/Gouken match ups.

And F.MK->F.MP really seems to be a good frame trap. Was constantly catching people with it.

F+MK > F+MK is already a godlike frame trap for crouch techers

You just don’t know how many times I’ve been doing this on Balrog. Easy counter hit and stun afterward.

Which Target Combo are you talking about?
The brilliant Gentleman’s Encyclopedia doesn’t help me out on this one.

c.lk s.mk is the target combo he was talking about.

tried out c.lk c.mp tc vs rog’s wake up ex dash, it’s so amazing thank you!

wait, is that target combo fast enough to hit Rog out of EX rush punches on wakeup?
