Been that way since Third Strike. Only difference is that CC has slightly more uses in SF4.
Can anyone who has actually touched the Arcade Edition tell me if Capcom did anything to help Dudley from being out-footsied? The list of changes seemed to indicate that they did everything but ignore his most glaring weakness and the wait to play at CTF was 2 hours, so I didn’t have a chance.
i’d be able to tell you if I had more people to run tests for me.
can Dudley be grabbed out of EX Duck btw?
It’s confirmed Dudley can beat neutral jumpers with EX Duck Upper (juggles afterwards into anything if only 1 hit lands)
They buffed Dudley and Makoto’s answers to people with strong jump ins.
Now it may be a better option to anti air Gief with EX Duck Upper (would avoid neutral jump headbutt trades you’d get with jet upper)
Also you can OS with c.MP using a buffered EX Duck. You wont get that push back as much vs some character’s far pokes. (MOST LIKELY STILL DOESNT WORK AAINST RUFUS’S C.HP) But ya EX Duck deems to be great if you can hit confirm from c.MP good.
cr mp was already good without ex duck if you hit it its guaranteed duck upper already or if you have really good reactions just go straight into ex mgb on CH. But ya ex duck looks legit and im excited to play around with f+mp i wanna see how much faster it really is and if they made the hitbox on it better.
Some pokes hit at max range with c.MP xx MP MGB and MK Duck Upper would whiff.
Since EX Duck Travels farther than MK Duck…
Just pointing out possibilities
Outside of F+MP being a bit faster, more active frames on cr. MK, and stand RH being even on block, I don’t get the impression that they changed much in regards to his footsies. But that is what counterpoking with st RH into a buffered EX MGB is for anyway. It doesn’t make up for all of his footsie problems, but it helps a ton.
I call bullshit. Stand roundhouse doesn’t help you against any of the good pokes in the game like shoto crouch forward.
st. rounhouse is good like for counter poking. You can whiff punish Bison’s st. mk/hk, Dhalsims crouching fierce, Rufus’ cr. fierce, etc…
Dudley’s footsies still suck from what I’m hearing though. If he still doesn’t have the tools to get in reliably, then I don’t know…
Well they should have given dudley armor on ex ducking instead of upper body invincibility. Atm it just seems like f.mp got slightly better, f.mk is faster and new combos involving ex ducking. It just feels like they made him sliglthy better at what he’s already good at which doesn’t really feel like balancing…
Armour on EX Duck would of been so good imo… To be able to armour cancel out his Ultra would of been so cool.

Shoto cr.MK got nerfed, and you could cr.LK to stuff it or actually use Dudley’s walk speed to walk in and out and make Ryus whiff cr.MK and punish with your own cr.MK for a knockdown.
Shotos have never been a problem. It is charge characters with good mid range normals like Chun, Rog and Dictator. Chun being the best. However all of those characters have rubbish reversals that can be punished for huge damage if baited.
I think ThirtyFour made a point of saying if you play Dudley and you aren’t punishing for at least 300dmg without meter on every opportunity then you aren’t playing Dudley right. That’s gospel truth.
If you land 2 combos with Dudley and you don’t win the round, you done fucked up somewhere.
Stand roundhouse doesn’t help against a number of good pokes, but you would be surprised at just how many amazing pokes it can counterpoke into a free ex MGB. I honestly have not problem going up against Chun’s normals because of it nowadays.
Her st.MP beats it free though

Hiropon: Dudley?s ground [footsies?] game was pretty weak in Super, so if that hasn?t changed, he hasn?t changed either.
Itabashi: Yeah he was considered weak in Super.
Mago: His weakness was his difficulty in getting close, so if that hasn?t been adjusted, he?s still weak. So they said, ?How about we add EX Ducking?? but that didn?t really change much. So in the end he?s just whatevers.
Even if you’re playing Dudley “right”… Good players don’t make the sort of mistakes that allow you to gain 300+ damage combo’s, let alone 2 times in the same round. This is why winning with Dudley on a tournament level is an uphill battle. Dudley always had the tools to allow him to shit on players that make mistakes, but as soon as you sit next to a guy that knows wtf he’s doing, Dudley has to work hard.
This made me sad panda too… But then I realised that I’m never going to compete on a level where any of this matters. :clown: And even if you where to play on a professional level, Marn shows that it is very much possible to use Dudley with dignity.
All you need is 1 bar of meter to land a 290 dmg combo off a jab. If you catch them with one overhead it’s minimum 400+. You forget Dudley can pretty much combo into everything he has off of a sneeze.
The majority of Dudley’s fall down because in between those parts they don’t play lame enough. He’s such a fun and exciting character that I think it is very difficult to have the self control to play lame.
For me he is still a high mid tier character, and that is more than capable of winning tournaments.
