I think Dudley should stop throwing roses and throw cups of hot tea into the air to land on the opponent. :o
I’d like to see what would happen if thunderbolt became a reverse DP motion…
no changes to the move itself but just the input… thoughts?
Thuderbolt is just all around bad. It needs to be way faster on startup to even begin to be useful. It’s hard to even chip with it nowadays because if the player moves just a bit you’re left with ultra whiffing amounts of negative frames.
Thunderbolt needs to hit overhead first and foremost.
Next, maybe it should be sped up. If you look at the frame data on it, it can punish most projectiles in the game but you have to execute it nearly the same time you see them throwing it out in some cases.
Short Swing Blow needs to do a lot of hit stun on counterhit instead of a +1 juggle hit launch. What good is a launch you can only follow up with 1 hit of HP/EX JU in the corner only if it was a LK SSB?
Only time thunderbolt becomes remotely relevant is if it is thrown out completely at random (or accident), or as a last ditch effort to chip away some life. Regardless it’s very, very risky and offers almost no reward.
But i mean it’s been discussed to death. The only purpose it serves is to just exist. Just another option to consider every once in a while.
I find the latter happening to me a lot more often than the first one.
The move just needs to be redone. The move is bad enough even if you assume it won’t whiff the last few hits and leave you completely open to punishment.
I’d be fine with it having invincibility frames on start up. Hit going up, hit coming down, but giving your opponent the opportunity to hit you out of a poorly executed thunderbolt. But if they get him on start up, tough shit.
Will it be too much to hope that his cr.RH becomes a good counter poke?
Aren’t they making c.rh faster start up or recovery? I mean, I think it’s a brilliant mix up move and poke already. I can tag quite a few people on wake up who expect my overhead instead… Sets em up for a nice Duck straight > Fierce DP or even U2. I love nailing that.
Yeah, i always thought his Cr. RH was fine. But I’m not complaining that they’re making it faster.
I’ve had a few newer Dudley players complain about it being punishable… but I mean. If it’s spaced correctly most people can’t punish.
Well it’s is so slow that anyone with dudley experience (vs or playing himself) can block that shit on reaction and punish like hell. I mean it’s no means terrible, but it could use couple of frames shaved off to make it even more useful, especially with Dudley having so poor c.mk and all.
It’s such an awkward looking move. If you throw it out sparingly, I don’t think anyone is going to expect it and punish accordingly enough for you to think it’s a bad idea.
Still, AE is coming in December (2 months) and for arcade owners to turn a profit, we’ll probably see the patch 4-6 months after Arcades get it. We shouldn’t get distracted by what Arcade players are getting, unless you actually do/will play the arcade version.
Agreed.
It is good to be up to date about the changes so you aren’t completely baffled (if and) when the patch comes. Also I’m so hyped about the dudley changes(as I guess most of us are :P), even if they ignored many of the issues that we thought were apparent(c.mk being horrible, SSB being shit, thunderbolt being shit)
edit: I’m just saying that why do you have to be distracted to be hyped?
I mean, even if you disregard all the changes, it’s still not going to be difficult to pick them up once the patch is released. His changes aren’t exactly drastic. It’s what, an additional EX move and some faster startup/recovery?
Honestly, I would rather have a faster cr. mk then to be able to cr. RH x2 everyone.
Knockdown RH air to air is a very nice buff and will take slight adjusting to.
I mainly meant that it’s good to know stuff even if in advance and couldn’t see any harm by hyping and studying all AE knowledge already.
hey guys i just thought of something.
I was watching a Chun Li tut by OHT and he combos Chun cs.hk into ex-sbk… and i thought… lolwut? I’m not that good at reading frame data to know this but is it possible to cancel st.hk into thunderolt? this sounds like it could do some damage especially if it works off of f.mk, cr.lp, cr.lp, s.hk xx TB. this could open up some 50/50 situations… but I’m not getting my hopes up…
here’s the tut by the way…
