Dual modding a PS3 TE for PS2

Uhhh yeah i am.

Yes, I didn’t look at the full size image of yours.
Laugh.

Yes, it correct.

Shit! i almost forgot you could use ps1 controllers for ps2. I already have one taken apart. I might not have to do soldering either because its the one with the ribbon cable.

i’ve always (and still do :P) use Sony brand Dual-Shock1 pcbs. they have the higher success rate with more converters/adapters as well as being common ground. i especially like the size of the A-series solderless pcbs

Yah i have the one with the white dock for a ribbon cable to go. Is that one common ground? because i dont like the idea of actually using the ribbon cable.

Good, because you cannot use any Sony PlayStation 2 Controllers.
Only the Sony PlayStation can do for Dual Mod.

Well you can use Sony PlayStation 2, but after a lot of work.
And not worth the time and money.

Yeah i know. But the one i have IS common ground right?

Obviously this isnt mine but i have the same circuit board.

All Sony PlayStation Controllers are Common Ground.

yeah, Google “spiffyshoes hack”

i don’t recommend the spiffyshoes hack. Solder it. Get a proper connection.

I don’t think it is cool either.

Solderless is dick.

to each his own right? i get proper connections every time. so, user error on your part?

I can’t have user error if I’ve never done that method lol. Its just that its much easier for something to come lose from a solderless job compared to even a bad solder joint. If you have a soldering iron, I think its well worth it to just spend the extra 5 minutes and solder. My first rule of wiring up a PCB is to make sure that I will have ZERO issues, a solderless method in theory, has so many things that could move one of my signals or my ground and give me more of a headache later.

I never done it either.
Solderless is just not cool to me.

I even remove the USB jack and Screw Terminal from Cthulhu.

as pictured, i can see issues with it. when i do the solderless hack, i hot glue the wires in place. i’ve not had any complaints to this day from anyone that i’ve sold to or modded their sticks with the solderless pcb. but again, to each his own =)

k
I’m confused though, would it even be possible to wire to contacts ? because i dont think there is anything on the r1/r2 to solder to. I could always use the cable holder but thats difficult as hell.

i know i want to solder, but to contacts instead of that ultratight ribbon spot. theres nothing to solder to for the back buttons :frowning:

good idea

i have my ps1 pcb ready to go. I’m not doing the dual mod anytime soon but i want to attach wires to it. Can someone provide me with a picture of the the place where the ribbon cable goes without the white holder? I want to see how tight it would be. Also, would 22 guage wire do? because not only is that all i have but i couldnt find anything smaller anywhere.
