Dual mod PS3 TE > 360/PS3, few questions

Hi all,

I’ve decided to get a 360 to play SSFIV online since the connections are supposed to be better online and the network actually works lol

Anyway since I don’t want to buy another TE stick just for the 360, would appreciate it if you guys could answer a few questions:

1- What’s considered as the best way to dual mod a PS3 TE stick right now? There’s so much information about dual modding it’s really overwhelming to someone who’s very new to the modding scene and might end up doing something that’s considered as an old technique or not even required for my needs.

So far the method I found requires: 360 PCB, wires to solder the PCB, switch to change the mode from PS3/360. Is there any additional part that I have to get from a site like lizardlick to complete the mod?

2- Will a wired madcatz SF4 360 pad work fine as the 360 PCB for the dual mod?
3- Was there any reports of people getting any kind of input lag after doing this mod? Because obviously if this causes any kind of input lag I have no other option but to buy a new 360 TE stick.

Any help would be really appreciated.

There’s no ‘right’ way to do this mod - it’s down to what you want, and how you like to do it. I did my PS3 TE -> 360+PS3 with Toodles’ Imp v1.1 and a Mad Catz fightpad.

There’s plenty of threads dealing with how to do that partiuclar mod, so please check one of those out!

2: I suggest using the Mad Catz fightpad, as it doesn’t require any extra modification with resistors, and is thinner and generally less bulky than the normal Mad Catz pad, while still being Common Ground (the holy grail of PCB design).

3: I’ve not felt any input lag, or any difference between using my PS3 TE on the 360 and the full original 360 TE that I have (yes, I have two - I wanted one for modding, so bought the PS3 one as it was cheaper than buying another 360 one!)

Thanks a lot for replying, I’ve found this thread:

The whole solder/desolder process is making me think about just getting a new 360 stick and be done with it since I have very little soldering experience, I live outside of the states so importing a stick would cost me around $190-200, while getting the parts/equipment for the dual mod might cost around $70-90 (360 fightpad + hot glue gun, solder…etc), gotta decide what I’m gonna do soon, I’m hoping to play AE on a 360.

If someone sold assembled .110" hook up wires, then it would be possible to do a solderless PS3 TE Mod with two buttons (Guide & Turbo, most likely) hidden in the chord compartment.

dude, i’m kind of late but i think i found our solution:

EDIT: nevermind, I’m a newb.

That mod is only for 360 TE. To dual mod a ps3 TE he’ll need to solder a 360 PCB plus either a switch or imp for auto detection.

FML, wish I could go back in time and get a xbox 360 because that’s what everyone plays on! (at least in HOU)
