I have a stick that I have just dual modded with a Cthulhu + 360 Fightpad connected to an Imp with RJ-45. I’ve got everything connected, however, my PS3 will not recognize the stick at all. On my PC, when I connect, sometimes it will recognize the Cthulhu, other times no. I have absolutely no issues with it recognizing the Fightpad when I hold down the guide button on the stick as I plug it in to select the 360 pad. What’s weird is when the Cthulhu works, it works. It’s only when I plug it in that I have issues, but it’s still only my PC that will recognize it. PS3 never does.
Take a multimeter to continuity test all of your solder points.
The other week on my last stick, my stick would not recognize because I had one stray fray wire on the D+ solder point touching the D- on my xbox 360 pad. Took me about 30 minutes of continuity testing everything before I found that D+ and D- where connected, and then another 30 to find the mis-soldered point. Something similar might be happening to your stick.
Also did not mention if the 360 pad works.
Ah yes, the 360 pad through the Imp works fine. Just tested it on my 360. Everything on it worked perfectly.
Another tidbit of info: When the stick is plugged into my PC in Cthulhu mode, the ring of light on the 360 pad flashes then lights up 1 quadrant and stays that way. On the PS3 it flashes all 4, then lights up 1, then flashes all 4 again, lights up another (usually alternates between the lower-left and upper-fight quadrants), and back again.
You might also want to post a diagram of how you wired everything.
I agree with rtdzign…check the solder points on the D+ s & D- s on the imp
Also check whether you connect the guide button properly to the imp…because on PS3 mode, the rings should just blink and then not light up at all
Actually one thing I noticed upon looking at this diagram:
Everything on mine is wired the same as far as inputs go (though in my case I’m going to a 360 fightpad), except that my ground and VCC from the Imp are going to the 360 pad.
VCC on the Imp should also be going to VCC on V of cthulhu board as well as xbox. Also disconnect the VCC from the xbox 360 pad to the VCC point on the screw on terminal.
I believe that when the diodes are in place the VCC line on V and on the terminal screw point are not in continuity.
Ah, this could be it, I have it connected to VCC on the screw terminal. I’ll give this a shot when I get home.
to clarify the diodes only allow the voltage to only flow one way. you can have voltage go from imp to cthulhu on V then have voltage from screw terminal go to 360 pcb but cannot power on cthulhu from vcc screw terminal.
Haha, yep, that’s how I have my Cthulhu connected to the Imp. But if that’s the case, why would my PC be recognizing the Cthulhu at all(instead of the intermittent times it does so currently)?
There might be a small enough voltage flowing through everything else like the signal lines for buttons. Not sure.
Alright, got it figured out! There was a VERY SMALL strand of solder connecting C & D on the Cthulhu, which was throwing the whole thing off. Got rid of it and things are now working perfectly! Thanks for your assistance, rtdzign!
Usually the case. Multimeter is definitely needed to trouble shoot this mod.
