Yeah, that’s pretty much what I thought it was.
The real answer is that nobody knows where the hell it came from, so they come up with stories (Or hear stories from somebody else).
I always drink when I play SF. It’s a social thing, when I hang with my friends we have beers so it’s only natural that we’d have beers with SF.
We always start good then by the end of the night and 12 beers later it’s a mess of yelling, taunting and sloppy gameplay… but great fun.

My bad…it was highschool, by a statue. Can’t find it on the net, but I saw some of the guys interviewed on msnbc. One of them had a letter from the early 70s in which the guy writing to him used “420” as proof they came up with the term. As that article says, though…it really doesn’t matter where it came from.
I play so sober that it’s easy to get drunk just watching me.
i had always heard “420” was the police code for a pot arrest or something like that.
im usually blazed up most times im playing, and during most things I do outside of work.
And I do notice i play better when im stoned. Lots of times I won’t play that good, cuase im so stressed out. So smoking helps me unwind a bit and concentrate on the game a little better.
and drinking is fun while playing. Although after 6 or so my game starts to hurt, but I start having more fun and not caring if i lose.
I’m not really a drinking fan, but playing sf4 with my buds when i’m wicked high is a whole new game and I am a brand new fighter… nuff said.
dealing with the players on XBL you need to smoke a little before you deal with the shenannigans.

i’m usally stoned when i play sf4 & the 420 story about the school, i read the article that was refered to as well, its always amused me to know that all of the 420 kids on xbox live dont even know that it was started by a bunch of geeky school kids or even what “420” is meant to represent :).
as for the 420 thing, I think EVERYBODY has heard some random things. It used to be the scanner code for Marijuana smoking in progress (although I also heard that was bogus). Considering it originated with potheads, I highly doubt any of the stories I have heard.
Anywho, drunk off my ass, I do great. I take more risks, true, but they actually pay off (random vertical Blanka balls somehow telepathically force my opponent to jump).
I woke up this morning and my Bison got assfucked due to my hangover though 
sooo close to ragequitting.
I make way more stupid mistakes even when I’m buzzing but not shitfaced. Horrible idea for me to play while drinking hehe

Drinking really helps me relax and execute everything a lot better. I think the most extreme example of this is when I play CvS2. I seriously get like 10x better at that game after a few beers.
I love it when I trash someone online and they reply with “You are lucky Im drunk right now” when both him and I know he wasnt drunk, he just sucks
