My d-pad had gotten stuck a little while ago while playing CvS2 on the Dreamcast and now no inputs can be registered except Down. I’d rather not spend $40 or more on another one of these if I could fix the one I already have, so is it something I just need to adjust in the pad, or is the d-pad itself totally shot and should be replaced? >_<
Moreso for the benefit of anyone who may have a better idea of a fix but if the pad is currently in a borked state would you be terribly upset about disassembling it and documenting the insides? This probably isn’t a big deal as if there’s a fix available you’re probably going to end up having to take it apart anyway. It might be something as simple as cleaning it or it might be something more complicated like cannibalizing components from another pad for repairs. In short: pictures!
I agree, try cleaning out your Ascii gamepad. Get some q-tips and some rubbing alcohol and clean out any dirt and grime, especially around the contacts.
Hey, I almost forgot I made this topic a while back…
So I was doing some cleaning today (yeah, house cleaning on Christmas day -_-), and since I had just found my toolkit I decided to fix this thing after putting it off for a while. Turns out it has the same problem as the MadCatz fightpads in that the rubber contacts will tear after excessive use. I had just replaced the rubber contact for my Xbox 360 SFxT fightpad by taking apart a SFIV fightpad I had lying around. It’ll probably work the same way if I just get another MadCatz pad and cannibalize that…or maybe I can find a cheap Dreamcast or Saturn controller and use parts from that instead.
I do want to say for others, your mileage will vary. Depending on the brand, model and make of the game pad its all hit or miss.
Sometimes similar game pads have parts fitting exactly, and others times there no compatible parts.
