Dragon's Dogma (From the director of DMC3)

Some more videos from oxm popped up. I’m really liking how nighttime actually is like nighttime, and that it seems dangerous around the time. I also like that you can run into shit unprepared that you probably cannot handle at the moment, something I think Oblivion and Skyrim did wrong with their level scaling. It made exploring kind of meaningless with leveled loot and encounters. Running into places with unique stuff and monsters that are out of your league at the time in Morrowind or New Vegas is part of the fun.

About pawns

Classes and skills. Check out that flare arrow, it reminds me of needing a sunlight maggot or skull lantern in the tomb of giants in Dark Souls.

Will it be the new skyrim?!?!

This game is looking sick.

Did anyone buy it?

Comes out may but these vids are really making it look more like a day one buy for me. Capcom seems like its rather quite on the marketing of this game and it comes out May. The OXM guy seems to hyping it more than Capcom is (even though there was a live stream not a lot of people even watched that it seems according to other forums).

I doubt it will beat Skyrim in numbers because that game had a lot of hype and marketing surrounding it. DD also comes out around Diablo 3 I think, so it might be some tough competition for it. Luckily for me, I’ll finally be out of college to stay at home and be a full time bum.

Oh, I kept reading “March” instead of “May”.
I thought the game was already out, lol.

You guys downloaded the Demo already?..I did, uhmm…mixed feelings about this game.

I liked it, combat seems fun. I just wish they gave you a normal quest to go through so you could play around a bit more. The fight with the griffon was cool.

The letterboxing is odd though

I need to download the demo, but this whole Dark Souls comparison is getting under my skin. You leave my Dark Souls alone. Nothing is DeS or DaS, so stop comparing them. Jerks.

Yeah Dark Souls is quite a bit different from Dragon’s Dogma.

I can’t wait to teach my beautiful Irish Strider flare arrow. Yes she’s a gorgeous irish strider with a short but buff black guy as a pawn.

All I wish is that the Griffon had more health. Then again, maybe they made it easier in the demo.

The pawn system seems cool. Its effectively Pokemon or Monster Rancher, but with a flat chested brown girl. Or maybe that’s just going to be in my game…

My biggest problem with this game is that it’s going to cut into my Diablo 3 playtime.

get diablo 3 now
get dragon’s dogma when it drops to $50

Problem solved. Nowadays I don’t see much reason to pay full price for a single player RPG, if you really gotta play it before it drops in price you can always rent it.

I’m still pretty salty that they are releasing this instead of Monster Hunter Tri-G for 3DS. I just hope they are stalling the NA release date to include online play.

I’ll probably pick this up anyways. I can’t escape from the Monster Hunter/Phantasy Star Online gameplay to save my life.

Yes that’s exactly why. A lot of people are complaining about this when many many previews have stated that there’s hard shit everywhere. If you make a demo for an open world game and you don’t have a small section of the world open, but only a boss fight instead, it needs to be beatable by anyone so all types of players can get a feel for the difficulty.

I was actually impressed by the demo, it feels like Darksouls but more freedom when it comes to mobility.

Had to quote for emphasis.
The demo was just to reach a wide audience, imagine they make it hard and half the potential consumers don’t end up buying it.

Your characters are leveled up to 20 already, that’s why the demo feels so easy. It’s more about showing the combat mechanics of the game which I absolutely love.

I liked it but it seems too easy. If thats what it like leveled up, its gonna be a short game. Any word on how many hours it is?

Is the Griffin part Archer only?
