I’m at the final boss. Got wiped twice now. Did better the second time, but I would really like to have a non-AI party for this.
No Anti-air that I know of…and I’m at lvl 18 with him.
Although I’ve been sometimes been able to grab enemies in the air.
I did recently purchased his “Eagle Dive” skill…best I can use against airborne enemies.
Got my first at level 7 (it was a lvl9 necklace). Threw it away immediately. I don’t need no epic gear to own up
Spoiler
Yeah right, I had that sumbitch equipped til mid 20s
I swear, it was shockingly easy for me, I didn’t die once.
The Red Dragon was way harder IMO.
I’m sure the final boss will be challenging on hard mode though.
Am I just stupid lucky or something? Get a shit ton of S ranks every time I go dungeon chaining, and I chain much shorter than most people.
Those of you who have played me have witnessed this, I get +10 S ranks at only 7 or 8 dungeons.
Dwarf is all about chain-grabbing fools-- toss 'em against a wall-jump up and catch them-throw them down into the crowd-blanka ball downward for massive damage. You don’t need an anti-air when you’re getting your Tizoc on. Power Bomb is a lovely skill, BTW. He can also cancel his Evade into his aerial moves, so you can Body Splash or Blanka Ball low to the ground to ensure maximum number of hits. Dwarf is a tank-- takes physical hits like a boss and even has a super armor skill and Q-like defense buffing (hold square while standing still).
Hulk up, and start tossing ninjas like a coke’d up luchador. Don’t forget you can throw bombs too–once you buy a Bomb Bag. Lv.2 Eagle Dive features bomb strafing too, lol.
Last note, Dwarf can pick up boulders in the Boss rooms and do his best Guts Man impersonation. Boulders can be chain-grabbed, too, lol.
I was gonna hop online, but me and my buddy decided to do a from scratch run… I’ll finally get online at some point… maybe…
Thanks for the tips, guess I’ve been playing him all wrong. I am starting to get the hang of the wall bounce grab though. Favorite thing right now for me is being able to grab those damn mages and toss them into a crowd on the other side of the room.
Is there a way to save the girls from the vampire or am I just getting confused. All three of them never died and I got a bonus for it but I recall the vamps biting them. Do I have to interrupt the bite or just keep them from being touched at all?
I’m curious about this one too…because at first I thought it was because I may have left behind a girl or 2 because when my first run I saved one girl, and my second run I saved 3.
Also…in the map with the Golem there’s a door that opens via a switch on the floor, but when I try to dash toward it closes quickly.
I tried to use NPC allies…but for some reason they don’t know WTF they are doing.
How do I keep that door open so I can go in?
Keep them alive when you kill the boss.
I keep them alive…yet I still get the saying that they all turned to vampires.
Beta you dummy, when I said they never died what do you think I meant?
Anyone on the PS3 wanna help King and I do final boss? We got close, but, the NPCs went herp derp on us and got themselves killed with a quickness.
The narrator is just talking about how the vampires were other kidnapped village women. You just happened to save three of them. As long as the vampire doesn’t drain them to zero, you’ll get the full bonus.
Fair enough…that shit is so confusing though.
Finally unlocked online. Did some runs where I fought the killer rabbit and cyclops. I’m still doing some runs if anyone wants to add me. PSN on my sig.
Your friends list is maxed out.
Just stand on the button until it raises all the way and says “IN” with an arrow on top.
Thanks…
I find it odd that I can’t pause the game while I’m in battle.
Online I can understand…but no pause during offline?

Just beat the game with my elf today, and I’m starting up with my dwarf. Am I playing this wrong or does The Mayor not have an AA to use? I’m so used to the elf flipping her little butt all over the place. Not expecting a 4 foot guy built like a boulder to be flipping like he’s Evan Bourne, but at least a strong uppercut would be nice, is there a skill I need or does he just not have it? Yeah, I skipped the tutorial for him, I may have missed something.
Got a lvl 39 Dwarf in Hard mode.
Dwarf’s anti-air strat is entirely different from other melee classes. You’ve got a couple of strong options, but what you will NOT be doing is going up in the air for extended combos. Dwarf is kind of the inverse of the Fighter in the air, all mobility and no combos.
So what do you do against flying enemies? First some relevant mechanics:
Jump attacks
Jump [left, right, or neutral]+square: These are your belly splashes. Hit boxes stay active til landing, brings flying trash mobs to ground, can hit multiple times, good horizontal mobility.
Jump [down or diagonal-down}+square: These are your spinning wheel attacks. Does what the belly splashes do, only vastly faster and with additional damage. Less mobility though.
Jump up+square: This is your air grab. If it connects, follow up with a throw. After grab: up+square is a horizontal throw, down+square smashes enemy into the ground, all others are diagonal down throws. On whiff you can cancel the grab into your normal air attacks.
Relevant ground attacks
Circle: This is your smash attack. It might not look it, but the hit box extends high into the air, especially if you upgrade it with skill points.
Various throws: after you’ve grabbed something on the ground, trying to peg a flying enemy with the follow up is a viable option
Strategy:
Against flying trash mobs, air-grab is your best friend. Jump into their vicinity, go for an air-grab. If it connects, think quickly about your most useful follow-up throw. If your grab whiffs, cancel it into belly flop or wheel and try to take some mobs with you on the way down. Once you’ve got an enemy or enemies grounded, work your ground combos to finish.
Against bosses, be certain first that you really can’t hit them with your ground combos. If you can’t, smash attack is your best option. In between smashes you can either work jump attacks for poor dps, look for something valid to throw, refresh pump-up, or use your bag to equip a different weapon and negate your unarmed cool-down.

I just killed the Red Dragon online with one other player and we never left the first room.
Was by no means the smartest way of doing it, but the treasure and gold rewards were especially good.
I wonder if was just chance or if the game gives bonuses on it. It is a treasure room after all.
had a foursome with me, but yeah. Killed off Red, stole his 40, and made a dragon burger before the next stage.

How much do you think that idiot at Kotaku’s article actually ended up helping this game? I was talking to someone at one of the Gamestops I tried and he made it seem like they weren’t getting many pre-orders until Kotaku blew it up.
I know this much: He mad bro. Probably somewhere screaming and kicking a wall Tong Po style making it rain dust and pieces of support beams.

Upon some more playing I'll retcon my opinion of evade. It's actually extremely versatile, along with my using it for a quick get away/deadly revolve attack on the way out, I also found that I could evade in four different directions, XD. That gets really useful for some of the hard hitters(like a certain fucking rabbit I met earlier today), so I'll likely take some points out of hp max so I can max evade. Fuck Ammy goes from Wonder Woman badass to a goddamn ninja with a BFA. Rest of my build stands though as well as my opinions on the bnb
