IW is definitely better gameplay-wise and balance-wise than B3.
BL is better balance-wise, but the overall tweaks to the engine is ass. If anyone thinks SSFIV is too defensive…play BL. Game is absolutely designed around defense, lmfao…and not even for good reasons.
Yeah, I see what you mean. I admit I was looking at Gamefaqs to know what to do for the characters like Kid Goku. Still, its better than how unlocking stuff in B2 took forever.
I disagree strongly with IW. And if you think its more balanced…please play Goku with his safe ass 4P+K shenangians (also safe against teleport cancels and you can combo off it and set up guard breaks with it). I like what they did with people like Syn Shenron (previously Omega) and Yamcha being tops along with Pikkon (well they are about the same anyway) is interesting but other than that, no.
And yeah BL is too defensive and long ranged oriented.
Uh…at most, beating Omega Shenron with “Goku”. I say “Goku” because you have the Fusion Capsule by then for SSJ4 Gogeta. But you have to fuse manually which is a pain because you’re a sitting duck otherwise.
You have the Budokai1,2,3, the Tenkaichi series with its thousands of characters (kinda nullified by the fact they are pretty much the same, but still), hell even that old GT game and Ultimate Battle 22 had more characters. Yet Burst is released and they only go up to the Cell Saga with Broly as a bonus? Come on now, that’s some massive steps back.
B3’s main issue towards the end of its lifespan is that it became one-dimensional…pretty much anti-TC Ps were overcentralizing. IW removes that from existance, adds in some new things (although admittedly they were just rushed in), and pretty much makes everyone a lot less similar.
And the top tier really isn’t that bad to deal with. Goku’s elbow isn’t immune to CH ki blasts…same with Yamcha’s P chains (plus his damage is ass). Pikkon’s high priority strings are generally only high priority at the start. Syn is more or less what Hakan would be if oil lasted an entire round after getting it on…shitty at the start, but pretty damn good once transformed. It’s a lot more interesting than you give credit for.
Though what’s really interesting is SBAR. Pretty much the game got no competitive play before Ad-Hoc Party…now that it has, quite a lot of shit has changed and it’s actually getting more balanced since people are realizing shit that theoretically worked doesn’t exactly work that way.
dude, it is waaaaaay past due for you to get B3. its 1000x better than B2.
IW is just an alternate version of B3. not better or worse, just different.
IW still pisses me off in that the ginyu force still isn’t complete.
no jiece, burter or guldo.
wtf?
still can’t believe they weren’t put in.
mini-games were great though.
if anybody got questions on some SDBZ moves for some characters, ask away. i even know how to extend chichi’s bo staff ultimate attack…the one where she spins it like a helicopter’s blades over her head and lifts off the ground. took me 4ever to figure out how to mimic the cpu move.
Shit, the majority of DBZ’s voices have been messed up since it was dubbed in english. The only thing that makes them tolerable is Dragonball Abridged.
Don’t misunderstand; I never said IW is BAD or necessarily worse than B3. But its not the hands-down improvement that I originally believed it to be. I like IW…but I prefer B3 even more.
Yeah, it really sucks that in the English version adult men sound like adult men and non-humans sound like non-humans.
It’s not Goku. I can accept his dorky voice. It’s Vegeta (who sounds like he gargled with glass rather than royalty), Trunks and Goten (who sound like a couple fat chicks trying to sound like kids), and Buu (who sounds like fucking Elmo). And Kuririn sounds as if his va’s were chosen intentionally for sounding goofy and annoying. His voice would be a better fit for Oolong.
Dang…maybe I’m one of the few people who REALLY likes the english voices for DBZ over the Jap.
Glad to see this thread is getting more hype and hits guys. Sorry I can’t chime in much after talking about likes/dislikes (presentation wise), characters/story, and tournament stuff.
It’s okay to be annoyed by Vegeta, the rest…not really. DBZ isn’t like…well every other anime in history dubbed from JPN to English. Most of the VA’s are actually well done.
Yeah, DBZ, Dragonball, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop to name a few, were animes with dubs rivaling or better than the Japanese counterparts imo. DBZ’s voice acting was probably the reason I tolerated watching it for so long…they actually fit the characters.
Odd that I DO like the Abridged voices, though, which sound a lot like the actual va’s…strange. Probably easier to tolerate cuz it’s funny as the fuck.
