It’s far from a bad game, actually. BL’s arguably better engine-wise than nearly all of its predecessors, with some flaws that, unfortunately, alienated the forefront competitive community that had existed on my site and the bad online which prevented any potential of a serious online scene. The ki system wasn’t stellar, but was workable, and the characters all had a decent balance to them if you weren’t picking Saibamen any.
IW looks to be pretty much a super-mesh of every Budokai…including capsules, black-outs for DMs (BAD move…very bad move…), Aura Dash, and I’m guessing BL’s fatigue bar. Hopefully, the game plays more like Shin Budokai with BL-type Rush&Slam balance (SB’s Rush&Slam balance was terrible and led to an imbalance that gave a God Tier character and tons others who were completely unviable to even use with an utter lack of high priority, comboable Slam starters).
I’d rather have a game evolved from the Shin Budokai series. As far as I’m concerned, Shin Budokai 2 (Another Road) is the best DBZ game out. Followed by Shin Budokai then Budokai 3…
The biggest problems i had with this gen of DbZ games is that there weren’t enough attack buttons, just like a physical attack button. And the normals were almost always the same, yuuk. That fighter for the snes was the shit though.
i want gameplay vids before i decide to buy it and they better have a useable version of uub in the game. i wanna play him and piccolo. tired of saiya-jins
Wow. This is some straight off the wall, jimmy walker, hundred pounds of mierda de toro.
Why and How did they pull this off??..the game looks and still plays like those crappy budo games except 2. Bcuz 2 wasn’t crap. BL disappointed me after a while.
This is awesome, yet another fighting game for my PS2 to get!
I’m not sure if it is using the P&K controls of B1-B3 or the R&S controls of SB-BL. Hopefully the R&S one. Seems hyper mode is back, but faster than in B3. Can’t wait to check it out.
Just because it’s the only recent DBZ fighter that has more traditional inputs for specials doesn’t mean it’s the only good DBZ fighter. There’s also Budokai 3, Shin Budokai, and Burst Limit.
From the videos shown, it looks more probable that P&K is back, which isn’t bad, given R&S’s priority flaws that create imbalances. Hyper Mode is definitely back, with Aura Spark-esque qualities also (No dizzy state after full ki drain, basically making it a somewhat risky, but good pressure tool and when combined with Heavy Smash and B3-style Ultimate execution, allows for Ultimates to be still comboable).
Also, another thing to add, the AI will be using cancel combos at the higher difficulties much like in BL.
