Somebody let me know when the mp3 of the entire intro song drops, please.
Doesn’t need a jump or a duck, the rock paper scissors for high mid and low is already there…
Instead of high mid and low being the height of attacks, they are represented in speed.
jabs are high in speed and also high hitting, if you have an aggressive poker, you can counter his high attacks with a low attack.
low attacks are low in speed, but also putting you in a low profile, (input is usually back plus a button,) they go under high attacks the second you input them. Low attacks are great vs button mashers.
mid attacks are of course mid speed but are faster than low attacks, (input is usually foward and attack,) they stuff low attacks and get stuffed by high attacks.
Adding jumping doesn’t really help because the advanced use for jumping is usually crossups and instant overheads, but budokai uses a block button. It is noted that you can hit someone from behind which makes an attack unblockable, the with the few moves budokai 3 have that do jump, I’ve yet to hit with a move as a crossover, so I’m guessing budokai 3 has no crossover properties in the engine.
Ducking doesn’t really work since low attacks are slow as dog poop. You’d only hit someone who is in the middle of a high poke, which is what it does already…
I also take note that this version of high mid and low does come at the price of being casual player friendly, but remember that at high level street fighter play, jumping is not only rarely used, but when it is used, it’s often punished with a super combo.
it plays like bodukai
I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again. Budokai 4… err, Burst Limit is going to be epic. Way better than any Budokai Tenkaichi game, that’s for sure. Online play, updated fighting system, AMAZING graphics. The game looks damn good.
I’ll have it for you, homes.
EDIT:
How are Tenkaichi 2 and 3 so different? They use the same damn way of playing, the third game just improved things a bit. The series was never known for depth, mostly because it is so simple. Too many characters that don’t really play all too different, and a lot of them you really don’t want to play with after a few fights.
What I’m trying to understand is how Tenkaichi 3, by your logic, is a “REAL 3D fighting game,” but Tenkaichi 2 and the first are not.
Thank God they’re finally making a decent DBZ fighting game… Super DBZ was such a disappointment and the Tenkaichi games were fun for a while, but definitely not as awesome as the Budokai series. This better be a little better than Shin Budokai though, ugh, that game was crap compared to Budokai 3.
-_- No…
It seems like they are trying to make Burst Limit less fan service DBZ game and more fighting game material the way that dude was talking on the interview. The Drama Pieces is very interesting i like how it deters move spamming.
I still say they need to bring back Legends and put in on the Nintendo DS.
3 on 3 Format. Wi-Fi connection 6 Players madness. Unlimited stage movement=Best DS game ever.
Bandai doesn’t remake games as much as they could, so I doubt it’d ever happen. The closest we’ll get to Legends on the DS seems to be SSW2… (Yeah, I know. Not really close at all).
Might as well stick to that Jump! Ultimate Stars for that DS WiFi heat. May not be all DBZ, but it’s one of the best, if not THE best, DS game out.
I loved Jump Ultimate, cept when I had to play annoying ass Japanese players who just kick your ass and than taunt all day.
You know what I want? More expansion on the teleporting. I dislike the whole ALWAYS teleporting behind your opponent at close range. How about teleporting in the air above or far away in front or far away behind?
Hell yeah. I remember the first time I played, I was beat down because they were spamming and everything.
The taunts, though? I taunt all the time, so it didn’t bother me. >_>
When I was watching one of the leaked trailers, my brother said he saw Goku teleport backwards or something. No, it might have been in the GameSpot’s GDC video with Donny Clay. But yeah, either way, it needs to be in there. It’ll keep dodging from being so predictable.
here’s another fight featuring kid gohan and Cell:

ok…after how many dbz games…and all these enhancements and shit to the gameplay mechanics…HOW ARE THEY STILL FUCKING UP CELL’S VOICE!?
I’m so used to it now its like some kind of fucked up tradition
and besides dimps is making the now so it feels more appropriate
wow i gotta admit the music was cool :wgrin:
this game will be ridiculous if you can still combo cancel / teleport counter cancel / sidestep cancel
It’s funny because it’s true.
Budokai 3 started to become competitive in my area, than it just dissapeared. My question is, do you think that burst limit will go competitive? It seems like budokai 3 only came second to gamecube’s naruto 4 and with this next gen push, do you think that dimps can make a decent enough fighter for the scene? Oh well, what am I saying? Super dbz made that attempt, and it got looked over strong. Sigh, burst limit will at least be the best budokai…
I was kind of upset Super DBZ got looked over. Yeah, it’s not the best, but it was a change of pace from both Budokai and Tenkaichi. I enjoyed it, I dunno.
And yeah, I think Burst Limit has a better chance of going competitive. I hope it does, at least. I’m hoping online will show players that people are really into the game and get them to go out to places to match up face to face. I know, that’s asking a lot, but I’ve been waiting for a competitive DBZ game that isn’t Hyper Dimension on ZSNES or SNES9X for a while now.

Japanese commercial. Just for fun. I don’t get the Armored Trunks with the sword. Raditz throws Tien a senzu bean? That’s something new. What if stories made?
wow…that shit had so much hype behind it…
Looks like DBZ drunken money match bonanza is coming back with a nex-gen makeover!!! 5 drink minimum to play… Ah, to be young again!!!
