Dragon Ball Z Battle of Z looks to be the most revolutionary fighting game since DBZ Legends!

Super DBZ isn’t really tournament friendly, since a lot of the stuff that makes the game balanced is only available when you spend time unlocking skills for your character.

 @ 1:14 I can’t remember the last time I saw someone get blind-sided so hard…

You’d have a better chance with Jump All-Stars.

Good fighting game? It doesn’t even have local multiplayer, so good luck with that.

I’m a huge DBZ fan, but I never cared about the games, especially the fighting ones. Maybe, I’m wrong for wanting them to play more like traditional fighters.

J-Stars Victory seems more fun than this one here.

As I said elsewhere, after seeing both games…both of them look mediocre as all hell.

SDBZ

No, he’s right for saying he’s wrong for wanting them to play like more traditional fighters.

SDBZ is not worth it.

SDBZ is a mediocre fighting game and a subpar DBZ game.

OMG BATTLE OF Z COMES OUT ON MY BDAY! MONG!

Super DBZ is an okay fighting game, but it’s held back by issues like:

  • The only universal way to get around a blocking opponent is to throw them.
  • The Skill Tree makes the game’s entry barrier a lot higher than it should be.
  • The Skill Tree also means that no character can have access to 100% of their move set at one time.
  • Needing Action gauge to do normally free things like dash is a bit much.
  • The flying system is kinda meh. Honestly though, Tenkaichi’s the only game that pulls off flying correctly, and even then it’s not a good fighter.

I’ve had the chance to play Battle of Z. Game is some ass.

I played gundam extreme vs and I think its ass too

ninja edit: though I’ve heard you have to learn how to play it tho

Yeah. It feels awkward when you first play it. I was in Japan for TGS and I played VS at an arcade. The controls felt really weird and off at first but after playing for a little bit, I adjusted. Game is pretty fun once you do. Also played Zenkai Royale. That game shits all over BoZ. Not sure why they didn’t just port it with more characters.

Battle of Z is GvG without any real depth.

Is this the arcade game that’s out in Japan? I never got a chance to play that while there but I heard it was good. On the other hand though all this looks like is a four player Tenkaichi with nothing really new added. Eh I’ll probably pass until they make a real DBZ game.

No this is a completely different game the closest thing to zenkai battle royal coming to ps3 is J-stars Victory

I owned DBZ Legends import on PS1 using a device method that plays sports (think it was called Gold Finger or something).
Tobal 2 was the other import I had on PS1.

The best fighting games don’t have to be the deepest. Fun > depth (as proven by the SSB series, which is tiers below Street Fighter series depth. simple, yet enough room for skill and fun. )

And even in a simpler mechanics design, depth can still exist in a battle system like this. And it definitely takes more skill to defeat a team than it is to defeat a single opponent. 4 vs 4 is going to be a blast online. Plus with this gameplay design, a Battle of Z series could have an easier time implementing more playable favorites. Considering Battle of Z is the first of its kind these days with new engine, it already is building up a more
impressive roster than most DBZ fighting series that start out. I’d say a sequel could possibly rival or surpass Tenkaichi 3’s roster.

And the online players 4 vs 4 team aspect is going to deliver a flavor of entertainment and party play that 1vs1/tag team fighting games can’t match.

An 8 player team fighting game. Please support this official release

Anarchy Reigns does Team Battles and such on a much better level. And with much greater variety.

So it’s niche is that it’s a Team Fighter in DBZ? Well that’s not much better than the last niches it had where other games outranked it.
