Dragon Ball XENOVERSE revolutionizes Dragon Ball fighting games + there is DBO Character Creation

You can do it but it’s implemented in a rather dangerous way. You have to use the scouter but as we all know, you can’t fight or anything.

Impossible to be doing that kinda thing mid-combo, it’s making it really hard to properly identify when to go in.

On the other hand, Solar Flare is fucking BALLER.

The z-soul “I am neither Kami nor Piccolo” isn’t so bad to beat under most situations. The regen rate on items are small unless stacked(namekian passive, regen capsule, majin rest move).

Once players learn more about the combo system, the regen rate won’t be able to help him or her come back. In addition, this should force the opposing player to use their stamina or else they will be infinite combo’d by any character.

One issue I feel the game should address is “Boost Dashing”. As of right now, there is no real way how to pursue players who run around the screen. A few moves can stop to an extent such as Full Energy Ki Blast Volley, but it only does so much.

I think a few pages back there were issues about how charging ki works in the game. I believe the design choice to make ki a move and either charge slow, or fast and be risky is to reduce the effect of turtling/defensive and spamming with ki blast moves. I always thought it was silly in the DBZ games before, for a player to run back charge to max and then wants to fight. The defending player not only would get up getting hit with a nasty combo, but a powerful ultimate attack is following afterwards to finish them off. Not cool.

Players that want to focus their playstyle with using ultimate attacks like older games would now either have to combo more and turtle less. Or when they do start a combo, they let go of damage(follow up super) and momentum to charge ki. How fast you want your ki charged adds the risk factor of the momentum lost(Energy Charge, FP Charge, Max Charge).

On another note, the game gives the player two ways how to gain ki at a decent rate; either through attacking or receiving damage.

The Ki charges shouldn’t be completely neglected either, because it gives the player other interesting playstyles. Such as being a zoning character and harassing the opponent with ki blast volleys and beam/blast attacks until given the opportunity to combo again, push them out and gain energy again.

In theory, a player that knows how to charge at the right time should only reset the game back to neutral, not lose too much momentum that they’re defending or receiving damage.

there are some interesting z-soul combos with energy charge that essentially makes energy charge seem like a safer FP charge and more.

Yo, if anybody wants to send me any Goku Yardrat outfit pieces through Timespace Delivery I’ll be hella grateful. I’ve been grinding for two hours and I haven’t even got one piece of it yet. My Steam ID is Froztey and my account name is Frozteh. SOMEONE COME THROUGH WITH THE GOODS.

people will use boost as a way to stall for time and regen their health, though. and like you said, it’s a very hard thing to prevent. i have played matches where my opponent would have died 2-3 times over had it not been for the fact that there are zero answers to runaway. maybe we’ll figure out some more stuff in the future, but i’m afraid like most dbz games the pvp aspects shouldn’t be taken too seriously

I’ve found my favourite Z-Soul, one that adds a fun dynamic to matches. “If only I could reach my perfect form…!” the Z-Soul throws a +5 increase into everything but it becomes -5 when you get to critical health, and that adds such a cool twist to matches for me and makes games a lot more tense. The Kami/Piccolo Z-Soul is cool but it has major downfalls A) Throws still open up the auto-guard abuse B ) People begin to rely on it and forget about Just Guard C) Having that fucking alert about the Z-Soul popping up under your name every time you charge your ki/gain stamina is the most annoying thing in the game.

The only reason I ever wanted it was because it was an all stats up but now I’ve stumbled across a better one.

Is this going to be localized, or will I have to learn a new language and play on asian servers?

The game’s out outside of Japan already.

The servers aren’t though.
Kappa.

Holy crap, I thought this was the DFO thread

They should rename this to Server Error The Game. Christ…

Other than that, my biggest complaint is the very real chance of not receiving a loot drop after a mission, not matter how good you did. That is some serious horseshit. “oh, you just spent 5+ mins beating a super tough mission? well good for you, you get nothing! try again, loser.”

Or when you clear with an S-Z rank and the game is like “here, have a regen capsule.” Fuck you, xenoverse, gimmie what I earned! They should have broken rewards up into tiers based on your rank, instead of this RNG crap. It didnt work in destiny, and it’s not gonna work in xenoverse.

PQ 16.

I have to beat Freezer’s henchmen, go get Krillin, wait for Freezer to kill Krillin, Goku shows up and goes MAYBE SSJ, wait for Vegeta to show up, let Goku/Freezer/Vegeta exhaust all of their dialogue, kill Freeza and then MAYBE Vegeta will go SSJ and betray you and if you beat him MAYBE you will get a Super Vegeta drop.

Have any of you actually gotten all of this shit to happen? First of all, it’s a bitch trying to coax Freezer into accidentally killing Krillin since he is obviously programmed to ignore him. The majority of the mission time is wasted by hiding behind Krillin and trying to get him to eat some Death Balls. If you manage that then you have to contend with 3 layers of RNG.

I tried grinding for super saiyan but eventually gave up and just waited until I could buy it.

Speaking of grinding, I’ve probably replayed the ginyu force entrance exam mission 50 times, with an A-Z rank, and I still dont have the friggin’ black ginyu force chestpiece!

Did it today, actually. Took a few tries, but got the drop the first time Vegeta went SSJ.

Shit like that is gonna make people send a lot of strongly worded emails to Dimps

I finally beat that one Bardock mission (you know, THAT mission).
Went ahead and got the Super Vanishing Ball Ultimate.
Then I just forced myself to Bardock’s side with no care for my own health and unleashed the thing over and over until victory.
I was screwed over the first time because Bardock got instantly murdered while I was fighting Frieza in spite of having about half of his health left.
So, as a note to potential future time patrollers: Don’t neglect your beam strength stat.

Nigga stop applying logic to DBZ.
I’m getting this today, what platform should it get it on?

Not Steam.
You have to put Steam in offline mode just to get into the game at all.
Of course, that means no multiplayer aspects,
which is kind of a big deal in a wannabe MMO.
On the porting side of things, you can only use FXAA, which looks rather bad.

Yeah grinding for skills are not becoming more of a hassle for me now than something I enjoyed. I’m finding it more difficult to continue playing. I already beat the game. Now it’s all about gathering items and skills. I’m halfway completed with gathering all the skills in the PQ up to 4stars. I just want to make different character builds now until I’m tired of playing custom characters.

After that I will take a look at standard characters since they have a bit more depth than custom characters.

That’s what I heard as well but I’m calling BS. In PQ15, Frieza has super armor even against SSJG Goku. My level 64 Female Saiyan has 75 points in Basic Attack and Frieza still has super armor. I’m starting to go with my original theory that they have a mechanic that grants them super armor when they have a certain amount of stamina. The only time I’ve been able to combo Frieza in PQ15 or Cell in PQ23 (after he revives) is after they’ve vanished a few attacks. Would also explain why they sometimes gain super armor mid-combo.

I honestly thought the same but it doesn’t actually give you the same items each time. There’s also the fact that DBs become harder to get after you get the first three or so. Also, can’t say for sure, but I feel like the TP appears more frequently if I do PQ2 by myself with my CaC (haven’t tried picking just a regular character).

Something I noticed while farming DBs today. If I play by myself, I can beat each of the starting 3 characters in PQ2 with the 5 hits from LLLLH. However, if I put two other characters on my team, I I have to add an extra H input for a sixth hit to finish them off. It’s almost like using a full team lowers my damage. It reminds me of the system used in Skullgirls. When I picked just 1 partner, I still killed them in 5 hits but it’s definitely possible that my damage was nerfed even on a 2 person team but it was still enough to kill them in 5 hits.
