Those special finishes are such a good touch. Goku doesn’t have the Genki-Dama in his moveset, but we see him doing it in the scan. My guess is if Goku lands his Meteor Attack on Kid Boo, the attack might change into the Genki-Dama instead of that KMHMH. Likewise with Beerus and Black. It sounds like he’ll be able to Hakai him if landed. Would be funny if he Hakai’d Zamasu, too.
actually speaking of those special finishes… is it in the story mode or in vs battles as well? Im sure this probably isnt true, but imagine if this was that thing that arc said they were going to do to make the game more complicated for hardcore fighting game fans.(that is if that wasn the dragonball mechanic shiver ) since they never confirmed what that was… what if this is it…
So like people are saying now, imagine if say if goku does some move that auto triggers his spirit bomb and only if he is vsing buu… or we see freeza does his auto combo, but when you do it on krillin extra scene happens… Like what if it made it do extra damage if it was vs the character it was done in the anime. Or just like if gohan does father son kamehamheha vs cell, it does extra damage and he dissipates? Trunks does heat dome vs cell it does extra damage and he disapears? Or what if… TRUNKS CAN CUT FREEZA in half with his special slash if he finishes with it. Oh man that would be sweet as hell. And the screen cracks etc?
I think on one hand it would suck that you only get to see these things vs one character… but on the other hand, if they make it a weird kinda gimmick like then your move will do extra damage and might make it special, and it might actually give you a strange sorta meta in the game like counter character. The game is already sadly to basic in a way, so adding another element to the strategy of the game even if its a hella ghetto way like this might be neat. Sadly I dont think we have enough moves like this that it would be that realistic but since there isnt a “weight” system like GG right now of certain combos vs certain characters. If we had a idea of, certain moves do more damage to certain characters it might add some combo variety .
I guess besides that though a problem would be is, how to make EVERY character special at least vs one character to make it potentially “fair/even” in a sense that everyone gets at least one chance to have some sorta extra thing going for them in a fight.
I doubt the dramatic finishers will play a role in how matches get played out. They said they wanted to keep stuff like that to a minimum. Just think its more of a visual thing like knocking people into the buildings and blowing up Namke.
Ya its doubtful, but ya know i want more complicated stuff in the game. So even if its a ghetto way of doing it, if it adds some sort of meta to the game im for it. Make these scenes do extra damage or something I dunno. Says they can happen mid match or a finisher so~ Just something like hey this is normally your best combo but vs this character you get a specific combo so its better to go for this one because it does more damage. That makes games fun. Who wants to play SF5 where the same combos work vs like everyone and its so standardized its awful. Characters are all basically the same height and have the same hurt boxes even though visually they are completely different. That stuff is lame as hell. Flow wise I agree if there are to many breaks that could kill the flow. But lets say you only get it once then. Im sure they could work a way around it. Honestly I think the most unfair thing would be that not all characters actually have something special to recreate probably sooooooo… But you could also say inevitably fighting games balance wise are not fair and being different is what makes it fun. Having characters be potentially counter characters could be interesting IF it actually worked that way. I mean hey we already have characters like krillin, he looks hella good as it is… but maybe a random ass weakness he has is if someone picks freeza, freezas auto combo finisher on him does double the damage for some reason. thats something you can laugh about when you are fucked up stoned, drunk whatever with friends. And something competitively as long as its not extreme could still add something to it. Or freeza looks really good. So a “counter” or weakness for freeza is trunks shinning slash does double damage to him and if it kills him you get the scene. Adds something a little fun to the game I think. And this game NEEDS more complicated wacky stuff for characters to stick out.
Like can you imagine if for some reason who the fuck knows why… Yamcha ends up being top tier. hes hella broke. But he has one weakness, nappa who for some reason ends up being the worst character in the game, if yamcha gets hit by any suicide green dude, he takes qaudruple the damage or some shit. So in tournaments you might have some weird idea of oh fuck well if I lost the first match of the tourny to cheap ass yamcha maybe ill put nappa on my team
With Arcsys’s track record of almost always having a playable final boss it’s likely the playable final boss. My theory is 21 is using some Cell-derived biotech to rig herself to gain control when absorbed by Buu. This theory checks a lot of boxes so I’m feeling like it’s somewhat plausible. Firstly its only fitting that an android focused storyline have an android boss. It’s also very fitting to DBZ to have the final boss get a twist form change at the last moment. It would explain this yet unexplained bit from the trailer that resembles a Buu girl. It explains why they did a full page reveal for her without any gameplay details whatsoever, which would be strange if she was a story only character. If she isn’t capable of fighting its an odd choice to make her an android in the first place since they have a precedent of being inherently powerful but if she is a capable fighter story-wise it’s weird for her to not have in game fights. Unless they goofed this aura means she is a bio android like Cell since other android types like absorption(19/20) or eternal(17/18) don’t have them which might imply that she is capable of transformations like Cell and perhaps explaining an interest in absorbtion. Christopher Sabat was really excited about the story mode saying they are doing stuff that hasn’t really been done in DB games so far, citing how most games just rehash the stuff that already happened in Z over and over.
These dramatic cutscenes now make me wonder why Raditz was NOT included. They could have added as part of Piccolo’s finishers the dramatic sacrificial Makankōsappō finisher to kill Raditz (and Goku, if he is on Piccolo’s team) in the game as it was one of the most shocking developments in the series. Truly bizarre.
